Performer of the Week: Days of Our Lives' Brandon Barash

Performer of the Week

Since coming back from presumed death, Days of Our Lives’ Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) has gone through some things. He was brainwashed under Li’s (Remington Hoffman) orders to think that he wasn’t in love with his soulmate, Gabi (Camila Banus) and that he was in love with his ex, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) all because Li wanted Gabi for himself. Then Stefan was kidnapped by Brady (Eric Martsolf) to be deprogrammed against his will to remove the false feelings that had been planted in his head because Brady is in love with Chloe and wants her back. On top of all of that, the deprogramming almost killed him and he had to be resuscitated by Brady. He was rescued by Rafe (Galen Gering) and told Chloe that the feelings that had been planted were gone and that he was no longer in love with her. They parted as friends, and he went to find the love of his life to tell her the good news and win her back only to find out that she was contractually bound to stay married to Li and live with him for 6 months. This poor guy can’t catch a break but his portrayer, Brandon Barash, plays him so perfectly that we can’t help but root for more ups and downs for Stefan. This week Barash ran the gamut from angry to pleading to defiant to gentle to apologetic and then finally devastated and he did it so seamlessly you almost forgot he was playing a role. His scream as he came to when Brady was giving him mouth to mouth was the perfect comedic injection into a tense scene, a skill Barash has displayed many times to our delight. Soap opera actors need to be able to go from one emotion to the next and back again, often in the same scene, many of them can do it but not all of them can do it every time. Brandon Barash is one of those who does and his display of acting talent this week has earned him our Performer of the Week honors. Congratulations Brandon!

Days of Our Lives

Salem was filled with lots of drama as usual. EJ DiMera was ready to let his brother Stefan get a taste of his own medicine. Maggie announced that she was the new CEO of Titan as Sonny said his heartfelt goodbyes. Stefan finally got his memories back and was in love with Gabi again after another deprogramming session with Dr. Rolf. Megan Hathaway returned and revealed herself to Kate, Kayla and Marlena who all came back to life. 

General Hospital

Port Charles was another place filled with drama. Kristina found a pregnancy test kit and assumed it was Sam's own but it turned out it was Molly's. Anna, Felicia and Laura worked together to get a confession out of Eileen. Dr. Obrecht slapped Elizabeth across the face when she learned that Liz helped hold Esme captive all those months. Nina was overjoyed when they found out that Liesl was a match for Willow and could save her life. Michael relayed the good news to Willow. Angry Heather lashed out at Laura and left a huge warning. 

The Bold and the Beautiful

Thomas finally got a second chance from his sister. She was even ready to bring him back into the fold at Forrester Creations and told Hope it was either he return or her line would be on pause. Sheila couldn't resist paying Deacon another visit, this time turning up the heat and giving in to the passion. Wyatt and Liam unleashed their anger on their father. Bill later revealed to Liam that if Sheila betrayed him, he would send her right back to prison. Carter was celebrated for his 10 years at FC.

The Young and the Restless

Jack asked Diane to marry him after they got away to the Abbott Cabin. Phyllis got drunk because of her problems with her children and was somewhat rescued by Jeremy Stark. Lily and Devon had a brawl at Society. Tucker met with Devon and made him a huge offer at Ashley's request. Nate told Victoria that he is in love with Elena and doesn't want to kiss again. Abby encouraged Devon to give Tucker's offer a chance. Adam had a sweet talk with Sally. Mariah returned to town and shared her good news with Sharon.

Honorary Mention

Congrats to Alley Mills (Heather, GH), Heather Mazur (Eileen, GH), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) who were all phenomenal in their scenes this week and as such receive the honorary mention for performer highlights this week.
