Performer of the Week
Even if most of her problems stemmed from her own actions, no one can say that Phyllis Summers hasn’t gone through it over the years. Whether you love her or love to hate her, you certainly love to watch her and just can’t look away and the lion’s share of the credit for that goes to her portrayer, Michelle Stafford. No matter what, Phyllis just can’t get out of her own way and her talents for scheming and holding a grudge, real or imagined, are practically unrivaled and in the world of daytime, that’s saying something! This week, even with so much action and drama going on at the gala celebration, Phyllis still managed to stand out, a beacon of sparkle, sass, and crazy all rolled into one. From plotting with her newest partner in crime to confronting her despised enemy both publicly and privately, and then breaking down, raw and exposed in front of everyone, Stafford didn’t miss a beat as the always entertaining Phyllis (Romalotti-Romalotti-Abbot-Newman-Newman-Abbot) Summers! Stafford as Phyllis somehow had us rooting for Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) of all people before somehow making us pivot to feeling so badly for her with her passionate, and seemingly drunken diatribe about all that she thinks that she’s lost because of Diane in front of the whole town. Watching her beg Danny (Michael Damian) to tell her that he knows that she’s changed was heartbreaking and we all let out a collective gasp when she collapsed. We know there’s a scheme involved here somewhere but we’re here for the ride and even lowkey rooting for Phyllis to come out on top all due to the amazingly talented actress who portrays her and that is why Michelle Stafford is our Performer of the Week! Congratulations, Michelle!
