In today's recap of The Young and the Restless for March 23, 2023. Victor and Nikki host the party of the year to celebrate Genoa City’s bicentennial.
Tucker meets Ashley at the Abbott Mansion. He tells her that she looks extremely stunning. He asks her to go to the gala with him. At the top of the steps, behind her, Jack stops. Jack is stunned to learn that they are going to the gala together. Finally, she agrees to the date. For Mamie's sake, Jack issues a warning to her. Kyle and Summer arrive at the top of the steps and inquire as the couple leaves. When Diane shows up, Summer argues that they should just have fun and not worry about any potential conflicts. They tell the children that they would like to make their engagement public tonight. The children look at each other anxiously. Summer advises them to hold off for one additional day.
Abby runs into Amanda. Abby wants to talk but Amanda is reluctant. I'm sorry, Abby says. She claims that a talk has been long overdue. Abby notes that it wasn't meant to happen and that they never intended to hurt her. Abby doubts Amanda's claim that she doesn't give a damn. Abby questions her return. Abby begs for Devon and informs her of his valiant efforts to maintain his connection with Neil. She begs Amanda not to screw that up for him because of what they did to her. She is reassured by Amanda that she is a professional and would never make the situation personal. She admonishes Abby to leave this in the hands of adults and not to speak to her ever again.
Devon crosses paths with Nate. Nate wants to know how the arbitration went. Devon advises him not to be concerned, and Nate makes an effort to persuade him that all he wants is for him and Lily to get along once more. Devon thanks Nate but informs him there is nothing he can do to help after Nate mentions how much he enjoyed seeing the dynamics between the siblings when they worked together.
Devon is alone staring at a picture of Neil when Abby enters. She inquires as to how it went. He informs her that it didn't go well. He tells all that transpired. Abby tells him about her run-in with Amanda and then changes the subject to the gala but he doesn't feel like going anymore. She informs him that a surprise will be happening tonight, and he will want to be there.
In Society, Jill and Lily talk. Jill is shocked that Devon declined her offer. Why did she change her mind? Lily queries and she is curious about what she is keeping from them. Jill expresses how painful it was for her to witness the conflict between the siblings. Lily presses once again for an explanation of why she changed her mind; Jill replies that she received wise counsel and an alternative without naming anyone.
Sally is anxious about going on a date to the gala when Nick visits her in her room. She is in her second trimester and fears becoming a talking point at the gala. Her safety is guaranteed by Nick. They head for the bed when she says she feels better.
At Crimson Lights, Victoria is waiting for her order while recalling her talk with Nick about how Adam is intended to take over McCall once they obtain it. She truly strongly disagrees with the concept of Adam getting the company to run. Adam enters the room while exchanging pleasantries and lighthearted banter. She expresses her desire for him to not have McCall as his whole focus. He replies that he was about to tell her the same thing after she told him he wouldn't be in control. Adam forewarns her that it won't go well for her in the end.
She reminds him that Newman is under her supervision. She explains to him that his father was merely making a gesture and that his offer to Adam was not genuine. She assures him that she won't allow dad to give him the job. When he asks if she has ever considered that he is qualified to handle the job. He explains to her that she has a problem with being unaware of what is actually happening and what she is doing. After Nate shows up, Adam is excused. He shouldn't worry about her brother, she assures him, because nobody pays attention to him anyhow.

Nate and Victoria leave. Sharon appears at the counter. Adam asks her who she would be attending the gala with and she notes that she is going alone. He then recommends that they go together. She accepts his offer and they both agree.
The gala kicks off with Victor and Nikki on the red carpet thanking everyone for coming. They go inside, where Victor tells her how proud he is of her to pull this off. They look forward to an amazing evening. Victor and Nikki are greeted when Michael arrives. While speaking, they share beverages. Victor is warned that they simply came to celebrate and that they shouldn't talk business. The reporters welcome Ashley and Tucker as they arrive. When Victor approaches their table, they clink champagne glasses while Ashley grumbles about having to wear a mask. Speeches are made to the reporters as Abby and Devon make their entrance on the carpet. Everything is normal until Jill, Lily, and Daniel arrive. When asked to smile for a group photo by reporters, Devon quickly turns around and leaves. Devon offers Abby a drink while expressing his excitement to find out what the surprise will be. The siblings are now facing each other across the room a little later.
On the carpet, when Nick and Sally appear, Jill is surprisingly still there. Nick says what he has to say. Adam and Sharon appear behind them and each person smiles at the other.
While alone Jack puts Diane's ring on her finger so that they can make their announcement to the world at the big event. Meanwhile, Jeremy tells Phyllis that it's time. She inquires how she looks, he asks if she's ready and they head off.
