In today's recap of The Young and the Restless for March 9, 2023, Ashley and Billy share a difference of opinion, Chelsea takes on a new project, and Diane fantasizes about her wedding day.
At the coffee shop, Summer runs into Chelsea. They talk about a variety of things as they catch up. Chelsea leaves as Summer gets a call and Phyllis walks up on the patio, overhears her on the phone and sneaks away. Phyllis walks into the coffee shop while pretending to be on the phone and runs into Summer. She strives to be pleasant. Following some discussion, Phyllis offers to drop off a gift for Harrison, but only while Jack and Diane are present. Summer tells her they've gone on a trip, and her mom searches for information on where they could have gone. Summer accuses her of using Harrison to obtain information about Diane and departs.
Billy meets Ashley at Society. He confronts her about her contact with Tucker. He wonders what she is really up to because she has no real reason to interact with him. He warns her about Tucker once more. What about Diane and Jack, she asks? Why shouldn't Tucker be given the same opportunity to change? What about Billy's personal history? What makes him think he's any different? He can't pick and choose who gets to change. She warns him that she is not cynical like him, and he realizes she has feelings for Tucker once more. Billy inquires about Jack's reaction, and she states that Jack lacks credibility. She brings up the tension at home. Billy notes she can always leave.
She calls him a jerk for granting a pass to Jack but not to her. She reminds him of all the damage Diane has done to her. She despises his double standards, and Billy thinks she has a point. He tells her he is going through something, and she tells him she can't wait for him to make this new relationship public so she can criticize it. He apologizes and admits that it is none of his business what she does. She suggests that now that his love life is on track, he should consider getting a job. He informs her that Jack has offered him a job. She expresses her doubts and he says well, I've changed. "Oh, so you can relate to Tucker then?" she says. He admits that Tucker may be able to change and that he, Billy, may fail miserably, but he wants to give it his all. He then calls Jack and leaves a message to discuss the job offer.

Tucker makes his way to Devon's. Devon informs him that he is aware that the offer was made to Newman first, so the notion that this is all about Devon is false. Tucker explains that Newman desired to incur the debt. When Devon inquires as to what has changed, Tucker responds that a secret benefactor has arrived, and he is now selling the company to him for pennies on the dollar. Devon expresses skepticism about his sincerity. Tucker is distressed and offers to leave. Devon invites him to stay because he wants to take him up on his offer. He informs him that the company has both good and bad assets. Tucker admits that he's always wanted to do things, but he's a collector.
Devon and Tucker talk business. Tucker is impressed, says look at this, we are already working well together. Tucker assures him that he has always known they can find common ground. Devon inquires as to how he intends to accomplish this, and Tucker responds that he can work for him. Devon claims he is unable to do so. Devon notes that his father is willing to take a smaller role in the company just to build a relationship with him.
Diane is dressed in her robe and searching for Jack. She has no idea where he could be. She discovers his note, which states that he is off to find the best dinner and a bottle of wine. She sits on the couch, daydreaming about her wedding to Jack. The dream includes special moments with her son Kyle. There is also Tracy, Ashley and her sworn enemy Jeremy Stark.
Chelsea is brainstorming ideas at home when Billy walks in. She declines his coffee date offer. She tells him she was inspired downstairs at the coffee shop earlier. Billy is impressed when she shows him examples of her ideas. She is enthusiastic about making a difference in people's lives. He tells her she is the reason he accepted Jack's offer. She informs him that he said the same thing when he first started at Chancellor. He tells her he wasn't all that interested. That was more for Lily than it was for him.
Phyllis enters the Grand Phoenix and speaks with Kyle at the bar. He tells her that Summer simply needs time to work out their differences. He dismisses her and goes to work. Kyle forgets to bring his phone. Leaving it behind, Phyllis searches through it and discovers their location. Phyllis calls the Cabin and Diane answers the phone. Phyllis hangs up the phone and then sends a text to Stark to let him know that she located Jack and Diane.
