In today's recap of Days of Our Lives for April 6, 2023: Tripp makes his move with Wendy. EJ gets the ammunition he needs to take down Gabi and Stefan. Eric admits to Abe he's starting to have doubts about Sloan. Paulina and Sloan have another toxic run-in.
Wendy's surprised when Tripp admits his feelings for her but that turns to anger when he tells her that he talked about her to Paulina. He explains the bond he and his family have with Paulina and she understands. Tripp thinks he's made a mistake in telling Wendy and starts to leave but Wendy stops him. He asks about her and Johnny and she tells him that they're not exclusive. Tripp wonders if that means he has a chance. Wendy doesn't know what to say so Tripp kisses her and she kisses him back.
Johnny sees Li at the bistro and taunts him about Gabi and Stefan. Li tells him to back off and Johnny agrees, as long as Li agrees to stop trying to make him think there's something going on with Wendy and Tripp. Li admits he does that to be petty and to get back at Johnny for exposing his scheme with Rolf. Johnny pushes back at him and explains that he defends Stefan because of his love for his late grandfather and tells Li about the family man side of Stefano.
Li thinks that it's time for him and Johnny to bury the hatchet for Wendy's sake and tells Johnny that Wendy and Tripp are just friends. Johnny tells him that he and Wendy are taking things slowly but that he really cares for her. Li cautions him that Wendy is less experienced than he is and Johnny assures him that his feelings for her are real. Johnny leaves to go tell Wend about the date he has planned for them and Li wishes him luck.
Wendy tells Tripp she likes him but has feelings for Johnny too and isn't sure who she wants to be with. He suggests they go on a date the following night and if she decides that she wants to be with Johnny after that, he'll back off. They are still talking about their potential date when Johnny arrives to tell Wendy about the date he had planned for them. Tripp and Johnny are both surprised when she tells Johnny that she already has plans...with Tripp!
Sloan finishes the request for the restraining order against Paulina and tells Eric she has to go drop it off immediately. He tries to convince her to wait until the morning but she insists that it'll be quick and leaves. Eric can't stop thinking about the magazine and scissors he saw and starts to go through them, trying to see if anything's been cut out.
Paulina tells Abe about her panic attack and the threatening note that she thinks is from Sloan. He tells her that he's going to handle it and wants her to go home and rest. After he leaves she runs into Sloan in the square. Sloan accuses her of stalking her and they have words. Paulina tries to walk away and Sloan tells her about the restraining order. Paulina starts to have another panic attack but Sloan thinks she's faking and leaves. Once alone, Paulina follows Talia's previous instructions on how to calm herself down.
Abe arrives looking for Sloan and when Eric tells him that she's not there, Abe says she better not be leaving another threatening letter for his wife. Eric tells Abe that Sloan denies doing that and Abe can't believe Eric believes her. He can tell that Eric has doubts about Sloan and he reminds him of their bond and asks if he can really stay neutral in this situation.
Eric tells Abe that he's part of his family but he doesn't feel the same about Paulina and Chanel. He says that he bonded with Sloan over their parental losses and that he understands her need for vengeance. Abe asks him what Marlena thinks about his relationship with Sloan and Eric tells him that he won't be discussing it with her. Abe tells him that Chanel and Paulina are not the ones in the wrong and that the Eric he knew was a much better judge of character and would never be taken in by someone like Sloan.
Abe's gone by the time Sloan gets home. Eric tells her that Abe came by and she is angry. She says she may have to take out a restraining order on him too and takes out her phone. Eric asks her what she's doing and she tells him she's just following up with the judge's clerk and that it's time someone taught Paulina a lesson.
At home Abe anxiously awaits Paulina and is relieved when she comes in. She tells him about her run-in with Sloan and the restraining order. Abe tells her that he talked to Eric and thinks he's having doubts about her. They are both surprised when Paulina gets a text that says "Your husband can't save you."
Gabi's impressed by the romantic surprise Stefan planned for her. The couple is thrilled to have time to be alone and sit down to enjoy a romantic dinner. Gabi's less than thrilled when Stefan shares his antics with Melinda Trask to throw EJ and Nicole off the scent. He explains what happened and assures her that Melinda is on their side because of her own hatred of EJ. Gabi's still worried that something will go wrong but Stefan promises her everything will be fine.
EJ rages to Nicole about Stefan besting them and doesn't believe he is sleeping with Melinda. Nicole does believe it and tries to change the subject to her and EJ. She tells him that she feels that he's treating her more like a co-conspirator than his girlfriend and wants him to focus some time on just them and their relationship. He apologizes for neglecting her and promises to not talk about Gabi and Stefan for the rest of the night. He leaves to go down to the wine cellar for a bottle of vintage champagne for them to share.
Stefan puts on music and asks Gabi to dance with him but it's not long before they're tearing off each other's clothes and moving to the bed. As they're making love EJ arrives and sees them in bed. Without making his presence known, he takes pictures of them with his phone.
When EJ gets back upstairs he's eager to tell Nicole about what he just saw but she surprises him in a sexy nightie so he keeps quiet. He tells her to go upstairs and he'll be right behind her. After she leaves he pulls out his phone and sends a text. In the square, Li pulls out his phone and can't believe it when he sees the text from EJ, a picture of Gabi in bed with Stefan!
