Performer of the Week

Every moment of Summer waiting for news about her mother to hearing that she was dead to the immediate aftermath was both heartbreaking and riveting. Her denial that her mother could be dead and then collapsing in Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) arms and sobbing that it couldn’t be true when Chance (Connor Floyd) broke the news was exquisitely done by Summer’s portrayer, Allison Lanier. Many actors would go for the dramatic overacting in these sorts of scenes, but Lanier’s quiet performance was a perfect contrast to the anger and very vocal despair surrounding her as she came to terms with the brutal truth about her mother’s death. Her sadly breaking the news to Ashley (Eileen Davidson) as it finally sunk in was so realistic that it made me catch my breath. Summer’s grief found an outlet in her confrontation with Diane (Susan Walters). The accusations she threw at her were mostly rooted in her own guilt for not taking her mother’s side when she was alive and Summer’s regret was palpable. Allison manifested every strand of Summer’s grief exquisitely and while it was emotionally hard to witness at times, I found myself unable to look away. That is why we are naming Allison Lanier our Performer of the Week! Congratulations, Allison! We are on the edge of our seats to see what you bring us when the truth comes out!

Days of Our Lives

Shawn Brady lashed out at Megan Hathaway when Andrew transferred her to the Salem PD and she toyed with him. Steve came face-to-face with Bo who was pretending to be Shane Donovan. Stephanie told Tripp that Kayla is alive and he advised her to seek Marlena's help in remembering more from her call with her mother. EJ got an eyeful when he caught Stefan and Gabi in bed. Melinda and Stefan put on a good show for Nicole. Chloe snapped back at Rachel who pushed her buttons. Chanel gave Leo his next big piece. Sloan and Paulina had another ugly run-in. Abe spoke with Eric who was starting to doubt Sloan. Talia tried to play a matchmaker for her big sister. Harris and Hope went to Greece to get information.

General Hospital

Victor shot Anna. Liesl Obrecht was kidnapped at the Nurses Ball. Gladys set up Cody who threatened her. There were several wonderful performances at the big event. Trina and Spencer made things official. Josslyn lashed out at Spencer for his behavior towards Dex. Bad news spread through Port Charles. Brook Lynn and Blaze exposed Linc at the Nurses Ball and he was arrested. 

The Bold and the Beautiful

Ridge and Bill shared their story with everyone. Everyone was stunned. Finn made a quick decision to save Sheila's life. Hope fantasized about Thomas after a big argument with Liam. Liam walked in and found his wife in a questionable position with Thomas. Ridge returned to Forrester Creations and came face-to-face with his son for the first time since his return. Brooke and Ridge connected over dinner. 

The Young and the Restless

News of Phyllis's death was circulated through Genoa City. Summer lashed out at Diane blaming her for her mother's death. Phyllis was seen later meeting with Stark as they continue their plan. Chance asked Sharon out on a date. Elena had thoughts about reaching out to JT. Victoria declared that she was no longer interested in McCall. Devon and Lily agreed to work together. Abby made up her mind to move in with Devon after a talk with Chance. Michael got a disturbing message from Phyllis and shared the same with Christine.

Congrats to Susan Walters (Diane, Y&R), Michael Graziadei (Daniel, YR), Scott Clifton (Liam, B&B), and Charles Shaughnessy (Victor, GH) who were all outstanding in their scenes this week. Congrats on getting the honorary mentions.
