Y&R Recap for April 18, 2023: Summer Gives Diane A Piece of Her Mind

In today's recap of The Young and the Restless for April 18, 2023: Nikki encounters someone from her past, Chance’s investigation takes a surprising turn, and Michael faces a moral dilemma.

In prison, Jack visits Diane. She is finding it difficult to accept the fact that she is behind bars. Diane believes that they should find someone else to represent her because Michael is not willing to do so, despite Jack's assurances that he will make every effort to convince him to do so. Jack vows to be there for her every step of the way.

Michael meets with Nikki. She is relieved he didn't choose to represent Diane. Nikki is concerned by Michael's witty tone. He tells her that Jack has asked him to represent Diane, but Nikki tells him not to because he works for Victor and reminds him of that. When Victor enters, he asks them what is going on. She tells him that Michael is considering taking up the case. When Jack arrives, Michael moves aside to talk with him. Jack informs him that he now has the key to Diane's future. Michael listens to Jack's plea as Diane's arraignment is about to begin. Jack is persistent despite Michael's resistance. 

Victor reminds Michael that he could get fired. Michael leaves and sees Jack on the outside of Society and tells him "We need to talk". Michael meets with Diane in prison. He tells her that he is taking her case. She now feels like she has a fighting chance. 

Allie and Noah surprise Summer with their return. They are stunned to learn that Phyllis was murdered and wonder if it is possible that someone other than Diane did it. But, Summer remains adamant that it was Diane. Noah invites his sister to go have lunch with him and she takes him up on the offer leaving Allie and Kyle to talk. Kyle shares his theory with Allie. 

Summer and Noah go to Crimson Lights where Sharon is happy to see her son has returned. Summer has to leave to go to the arraignment. Nikki checks in with Victoria via a phone call. As she hangs up, she is stunned to see Milton. 

Christine and Chance update each other on Diane's case. She advises him to leave the case open until they are absolutely sure that Diane is the guilty party. Christine struggles to understand how Phyllis could marry a man she barely knew. They come up with a plausible scenario where Stark could have framed Diane as a means of revenge. Chance gets a call with an update noting that Stark checked out of his room at the Grand Phoenix right after the distribution of Phyllis's assets into his accounts and now no one knows where he is. 

Michael arrives at the Abbott mansion with Kyle and Jack. They discuss getting an appeal since Diane was denied bail. Summer visits Diane and lays into her, telling her that she's stuck in prison and won't ever get to plan the wedding of her dreams or meet her grandchildren or even be in family photos.
