In today's recap of The Young and the Restless for April 4, 2023. Nick and Sharon discuss their turbulent past, Daniel threatens Jeremy Stark, and Devon and Abby’s relationship takes an unexpected turn.
Summer sobs, unable to accept that her mother has actually passed away. Chance informs them of the EMT's report. Danny embraces his son. Chance explains to Sharon that since it serves as a reminder of Rey's passing, she must be struggling. Sharon states that Phyllis' family is what has her most concerned.
Diane claims that despite their long-standing animosity, she hoped Phyllis would live. As he approaches, Stark orders her to stop pretending. Stark and Jack clash. Jack urges him to leave, but he declines, claiming he won't until he discovers the precise circumstances surrounding his wife's death. Kyle opts to take Summer home. Diane hugs her son and apologizes profusely to Summer. Jack explains that they will meet back at house.
Stark lashes out at Chance. He wants information, arguing that the GCPD should be looking into the circumstances behind his wife's death. Starks departs to get some fresh air. Chance is approached by Daniel, who informs him that something doesn't feel right.
Chance approaches the EMT and asks some additional questions. He wants to know if anything from the terrible accident could be salvaged, especially the blood he took from Phyllis. Chance instructs an officer to get the blood examined. He wants things handled in secret. Even those at the GCPD are not to be told about it, according to him.
Sharon and Nick converse. She wonders if what happened to Phyllis was related to what transpired between them when Phyllis fell into a coma years earlier. She is not to blame herself, Nick counsels. He believes that Diane's conflict with Phyllis is to blame. He also declares that Stark will be in his sights if he ever learns the crash was not an accident.
Jack wants to stay to get all the information he can, despite Diane's opinion that he should return home to be with Kyle and Summer. He says Diane can go if she wants to be with them, but Diane points out that Summer wouldn't want to see her now, especially after her mother spent her final moments attacking her and Summer would have to live with that memory for the rest of her life.
Jack and Danny converse. Nick follows suit. When Stark approaches, he criticizes everyone for failing Phyllis. He assures Jack that he will not let him or Diane get away with what they have done, regardless of what transpires.
Sharon brings Daniel some water. She sits down to talk with him as he shares the details of the last discussion he had with his mother, which still baffles him. Stark confronts Diane and holds her accountable for the demise of his wife. Daniel approaches Stark and inquires as to how he managed to convince his mother to wed him. Daniel is advised by Stark to look in the mirror if he wants to find someone to hold responsible for the loss of his mother. The two males engage in a physical altercation. Chance reappears and advises them all to go home and get some rest after the eventful night as they await future updates.
Ashley is at home. The door is pulled and she assumes it's Jack. Summer and Kyle walk in and Ashley asks what's wrong. Summer tells her that her mom is dead. Ashley offers Summer some encouraging words for which Summer thanks her.
Over at Society, Victoria doesn't hold back when she asks Tucker what can she offer him that he won't turn down. Tucker agrees that everyone has their price and only some pay people could pay. He then asks Victoria what is it about his company that attracts her. He tells her that if he had to choose between her and Adam, he would choose her every time but wonders how does she plan on defeating her father. She comes to the conclusion that maybe it doesn't make any sense trying to acquire McCall.
Devon and Abby enjoy a nightcap as she wonders if she can really call his place home. She notes that she was pretty surprised when he asked her to move in. They talk about how people will react once they find out. Abby says maybe Chance was right about her feelings for Devon. Devon in return notes that he knows exactly how he feels as he tells Abby, "I love you". Abby notes that she wasn't expecting the L word. He points out all the reasons why he loves her. Abby worries about what people will think. He advises her not to be concerned about that. After their talk, he asks her once again to move in with him. Abby says she needs more time to think before she gives him a definitive answer. She tells him that she loves him too as they kiss.
