Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on May 15, 2023: Stephanie tries to comfort Alex, who's just been fired; Shawn is consumed with guilt over shooting Bo; Belle has a talk with Kayla; Chad, Steve, and Harris make a daring attempt to rescue Kate and Roman receives a welcome surprise.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap for May 15, 2023: Dimitri Reveals That He Has Another Hostage!
On board the ship Chad, Steve, and Harris have agreed to split up to search for Kate. She's dining with Dimitri and trying to figure out exactly what he wants. Dimitri concedes that he does want immunity but it goes beyond that to something more personal. Chad bursts through the door and Dimitri grabs Kate, using her as a shield as he aims his own gun at Chad.
Steve finds Kate's earing just as a guard finds him. Steve tries to reason his way out of it by telling the man that he's an ISA agent and that they know where he is but the guard is unconvinced. In the hallway, Harris is attacked by Mauricio but he manages to overpower him. He arrives just in time to shoot the guard that's about to shoot Steve. Steve tells Harris that he had the situation under control but eventually thanks him.
In Dimitri's cabin, Chad lays down his gun to try to reason with him but Dimitri says he is just going to kill them both. Harris and Steve burst in and in the commotion, Kate hurts him and manages to get away while Harris captures him. Kate and Chad share a touching reunion while Harris and Steve detain Dimitri.
Steve and Chad are taking Kate off the boat when she stops them, refusing to leave with her wedding rings. They go back to where Harris had left an unconscious Mauricio but he's gone. As they're trying to figure out how that happened, Mauricio shows up and pulls a gun on them. In Dimitri's cabin, he taunts Harris while they wait for the ISA. Harris tells him that he will spend the rest of his life in prison but Dimitri is unconcerned. He gleefully reveals to Harris that he has another hostage.
In the waiting room at the clinic, Roman tries to assuage Shawn's guilt over shooting his father. Shawn tells him that Victor blames him and that he's right. Roman wants to confront Victor but Shawn talks him out of it. After Shawn leaves to check on Bo, Steve comes into the waiting room. Roman asks if there's an update on Kate just before she comes in and runs into his arms.
In Salem, Kayla and Belle meet for dinner at the Pub. They talk about the search for Kate and Belle confides in her about Shawn's struggle with his guilt. Belle is unsure of how to help him and Kayla advises her to just give him time and make sure he knows that she's there when he needs her. After they say goodnight Belle tries to call Shawn in Greece. He's drinking in the lobby of the hotel and decides to ignore her call. Steve calls Kayla and updates her about Kate and promises her that he'll be home soon.
At the Bistro Alex tries to convince Maggie not to fire him but is unsuccessful. Stephanie feels bad for him and leaves to try to talk to Maggie herself on his behalf. When she comes back she breaks the news that not only is Maggie not hiring him back but she is also considering firing Stephanie as well. Alex feels guilty for jeopardizing her job as well but Stephanie assures him that it's not his fault.
Alex tells her about his therapy and apologizes again for what he did to her. He wonders if trying to work on himself is worth it but Stephanie encourages him to continue. She tells him that she sees the changes he has made and she likes the new Alex better than the old one. When she goes to the restroom Chad calls her phone.
Alex answers but tells Chad he only answered so she wouldn't miss his call. When Stephanie comes out he explains to her as he gives her the phone and leaves so they can talk. Stephanie tells Chad that they were in a business meeting and asks about the search for Kate. Chad happily tells her that they found Kate and that he is getting on the first plane home and can't wait to see her.
