Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on May 31, 2023:Jada questions if Talia was a victim of emotional abuse. Eric reveals to Sloan he knows she lied to him. Between Eric and EJ, Anna asks Nicole which man she loves. Abe mistakes his nurse for Paulina.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap for May 31, 2023: Eric Finds Out Nicole Is Pregnant!
Colin comes to and sees a woman about to inject something into his IV bag. He thinks that it's Paulina but it is Nurse Whitley who vaguely resembles her. He apologizes and she berates him for what he did to Abe. As she is leaving Rafe comes in. In Abe's room, Paulina sits by his bedside and pleads with him to wake up. Chanel comes in and tries to reassure her mother that Abe will be ok but Paulina is distraught and goes to find Kayla. After she leaves Abe wakes up.
Chanel tells Abe why he's in the hospital and is concerned when Abe doesn't recognize her. She shows him pictures from his wedding to Paulina but Abe claims to have never seen that woman before. Rafe tells Colin that he is being released into police custody and will be booked and put in a holding cell at the police station. He lists the charges against him and Colin tells him that Talia is the one who should be charged with attempted murder for trying to kill him. Colin claims that all the crimes were committed by Talia but Rafe tells him that they know he put her up to all of it.
Rafe leaves to check on the paperwork and sees Paulina in the lobby. She tells him that there hasn't been any change with Abe and Rafe assures her that there soon will be. He tells her about what is going on with Colin and goes to take him to the station. After he leaves Chanel finds Paulina and tells her that Abe is awake. Nurse Whitley comes into Abe's room and he mistakes her for Paulina. She doesn't correct him and tells him that he is in danger from the man who attacked him but that she will protect him.
Rafe goes into Colin's room and finds Officer Henshaw in his boxers and handcuffed to the bed. Henshaw tells him that Colin overpowered him when he uncuffed him and stole his uniform. In the lobby, Colin, disguised as a cop, slips onto the elevator unnoticed. Chanel tells Paulina about Abe's memory loss but Paulina thinks it's just the drugs and wants to see him, Paulina and Chanel go to Abe's room and are surprised to find it empty! In the lobby, Nurse Whitley wheels Abe onto an elevator, promising to take care of him and keep him safe.
At the Salem PD Jada goes into the interrogation room her sister is being held in and gives her pain medication. Talia is happy to hear that Abe is expected to recover but Jada gets angry when she hears her sister expressing concern for Colin. Jada lays into her and tells her that she needs to worry about herself and not the man who got her into all of this.
Talia continues to defend Colin and it makes Jada question if he has been abusing her sister. Talia claims he wasn't abusive because he never hurt her physically. Jada reminds her that not all abuse is physical and it sounds to her like Colin was emotionally abusing her. Talia attempts to excuse Colin's actions because of everything he went through as a kid but Jada doesn't buy that as an excuse and yells at her sister to snap out of it. Jada makes it clear to her sister that she loves her and blames herself for not seeing what was going on earlier. Talia is surprised when Jada tells her that she's hired Belle to represent her. Jada promises that she will never turn her back on her.
Sloan is looking at the cheek swab in her hand before calling Nicole and making plans to meet in the park so she can give it to her. After she hangs up Eric comes in with breakfast and coffee for them. Sloan tells him that she is going to take her coffee to go because she has to get to the hospital. Eric asks her about her virus test and Sloan doesn't know what he is talking about until he reminds her about the story she and Nicole made up at the hospital.
Sloan lies and tells him that she called the hospital and it's no longer an issue because they were able to contain the virus. Eric calls her out on her lie and tells her that called Kayla about it because he was planning on visiting Abe and she told him that wasn't happening at the hospital. He demands to know what is really going on and Sloan admits to him that Nicole is pregnant and doesn't know who the father is so she swabbed his cheek for a paternity test. Eric is upset that she lied to him and asks her for the cheek swab and tells her that he will take care of it.
After Nicole hangs up with Sloan, Anna comes in and asks if she got EJ's sample. Nicole tells her what happened and then tells her that it's ok because Sloan got Eric's so she can use that to find out who the father is. Anna questions her more on who she wants it to be and Nicole tells her about EJ's marriage proposal and why she turned him down. She tells Anna that EJ declared his love and she cares deeply for him but is confused about what exactly her feelings are. Nicole asks Anna to not ask her any more questions while she tries to figure things out and gets through the paternity test. As Nicole is leaving to go meet Sloan, she opens the door and Eric is standing on the other side!
