Spoilers for General Hospital on May 17, 2023: Robert does some digging; Dante reaches out to Mac; Portia seeks out Ava; Alexis makes an offer; and Esme ponders her options.
General Hospital Recap for May 17, 2023: Laura, Anna, & Ava Receive A Mysterious Invitation!
Mac and Felicia are having breakfast at the MetroCourt but Mac is distracted because he's worried about Robert. He sees Diane and calls her over to ask her what is going on with his brother. She thinks he is talking about their relationship but he says that he is talking about a case.
After she leaves Robert is talking to Felicia about his brother when he gets a call from the PCPD and has to leave. Felicia goes over to the table Diane is sitting at and asks if they can talk. Diane tells her that she's busy with work but Felicia insists. She tells Diane that Holly and Robert are both good friends of hers and have loved each other for a very long time. Diane thinks she knows where this is going but is surprised when Felicia tells her that she's not sure they belong together.
Anna is admiring the roses that Valentin sent her when Holly shows up and asks for help. She tells Anna that she needs a job and wants to get back into the spy business. Holly asks Anna to pull some strings in the WSB to help her out. Anna tells her that Frisco is no longer the director and the new one is not a friend. Holly tells her that she's desperate because she needs the money.
Anna makes them tea and Holly explains to her that she has to help Ethan. She tells her about his plan to make money and how worried she is that he'll be hurt or killed. Anna suggests that she ask Robert for help but Holly says she doesn't want him to jeopardize his standing as DA by getting involved in something illegal. They talk about her feelings for Robert and the situation with Diane and Anna asks if she is just going to bow out. After Holly leaves Anna gets a delivery from a messenger.
Robert is at the PCPD looking for a warrant he requested and getting annoyed when it's not there yet. Dante tries to calm him down and asks what is going on. Robert tells him that he is investigating the Savoy for enterprise corruption because of Selena Wu. Mac shows up after getting Dante's call and brings his brother into a room to talk privately. Robert tells him about seeing Wu and Holly talking and says he will not let Holly get involved with her. Mac tells him they already have an investigation into Wu going and Robert can't jeopardize it.
Ava meets Portia at the MetroCourt as she asked her to and they talk about Spencer and Trina. Portia asks for her help in keeping the apart but Ava tells her that she can't do that. Ava says that she understands where Portia is coming from but it won't work and will only push Trina further away from her. A messenger interrupts while they are talking to deliver an envelope to Ava. Portia thanks her for listening before leaving.
Laura thanks Alexis for coming over just as Esme comes out with Ace, about to leave. Laura questions where they are going and Esme makes it clear that she just wants out of there. Laura quizzes her about money and Esme tells her that she has a trust fund that she is going to try to get access to again.
She tells Laura and Alexis that she's not comfortable there because of Spencer and needs her independence. Alexis offers her a job at the Intruder as a receptionist. At first Esme bristles but eventually accepts it, eager to earn her independence. While they are talking Laura gets an envelope delivered by messenger. Laura gets a call from Anna asking if she got a delivery as well and tells her that it's an invitation to the reading of Victor's will.
Curtis is doing the books at the Savoy when he gets a text from the WSB agent telling him the job offer is still on the table Selina Wu arrives and as they are talking offers to change the results of his DNA test with Trina to whatever he wants. She says that he is a man who likes adventure and he shouldn't be saddled with a child. Curtis tells her that he doesn't want her help and to leave the test alone. After he leaves Robert comes in and asks Selina what she has going on with Holly. Selina tells him to ask Holly himself. Robert turns around and sees Holly standing behind him.
At GH, Trina is waiting to get tested and tells Spencer that she's been there for over an hour. He tries to push a lab tech to get her in quicker but Trina tells him she doesn't need him to fight her battles. He reminds her that they agreed to fight all of their battles together before they kiss. They talk about the situation with Esme and Spencer realizes that if he finds something else for Esme to concentrate on then he will have an easier time getting Ace from her.
Curtis arrives and is questioning the lab tech about the security of the lab and test results and she assures him that everything is secure. When Portia arrives she sees Trina, Curtis, and Spencer standing together. They all agree that they are there to support Trina in the best way they can.
