The Young and the Restless recap for May 16, 2023:
In today's episode of The Young and the Restless, Victor pushes Jack’s buttons, Kyle comes clean with Diane, and Summer reminisces with Billy.
Summer is sitting at the Jazz Loung when Billy comes in. She isn't too nice to him at first. He believes they should put their differences aside. He makes her remember how much her mother adored her. He can see her mother's positive qualities in her. He tells her that she is surrounded by people who care about her and want to assist her. She shouldn't alienate those folks, especially Kyle. Summer doesn't believe Kyle or anybody else understands what's going through her mind right now. When Billy leaves she phones her brother and leaves a rambling message about how they need to find their mother. She has some suggestions and would want him to contact her.
Daniel and Chelsea chat at Crimson Lights. He tells her is waiting for some bonds to explode. They discuss her problems with Connor. She shows him an Omegasphere planet she's been working on for youngsters and he wishes he had anything like that when he was a youngster. Daniel advises they return to work right away because he needs the distraction. Billy comes in. Chelsea tells Daniel that she understands he's gone through a lot, but she believes he has a lot to be proud of.
After he leaves, Billy gives her some cinnamon buns and they discuss the status of her project. She is concerned about Connor's withdrawal and whether it is her fault. They talk about how Summer and Daniel are doing, and she compliments Billy on being such a kind man. Billy compliments her on how she brightens the atmosphere and brings that enthusiasm to whatever she does. He encourages her to open up when she becomes emotional. Chelsea states that she is always aware of her emotions. She's been doing well lately, but she wonders if she deserves it or if she'll mess it up. She nearly wasn't here at all.
Victor sees Jack at Society and suspects something is amiss. He inquires about it, but Jack refuses to answer. Christine enters just as Jack is about to say something, and Victor leaves them to talk. Christine is skeptical when Jack reveals to her that Phyllis is alive. Jack tells her everything, including the fact that Phyllis murdered Stark and is frightened of being charged with murder. He wants the GCPD involved, but Christine insists he must first provide substantial evidence.
Kyle cautiously tells Diane that there is something possibly good about her case. He indicates that there is a chance the murder charges will be dropped and informs her that the murder was staged in order to frame her. Diane, enraged, claims she always suspected Phyllis was insane and nasty, but not pure evil. She is enraged and asks where the cops are amid all of this. Kyle claims that they must gather evidence. Jack had already approached Christine to discuss the situation. She can't believe Jack tried to conceal this information from her. She is ecstatic that she will be free again. Kyle claims that Daniel persuaded him not to inform Summer about this. His mother shouts about how callous Phyllis has been before coming to a halt and remembering what she did. She encourages him to disclose the truth to Summer. She doubts that a marriage can withstand such a secret.
Summer returns home. Kyle welcomes her and informs her that her mother is alive. He tells her everything Daniel said. She is astounded to learn that Jack and Michael are aware of this. Her spouse claims that Jack gave the information to Christine and informed his mother. He inquires as to how she is feeling. Summer admits she is terrified to hope that her mother is still alive.
Diane is found sitting in the garden by Jack. Kyle, she claims, told her about Phyllis, but it should have been him. She can't be furious with a man she adores. They hug, and he assures her that better is on. Phyllis is the one who got her into this situation and come hell or high water, will get her out of it.
Christine and Chance meet in the jazz lounge. She informs him that she has shocking news. Daniel walks in, listening to his sister's message. He notices Chance and Christine and promptly flees. Chance and Christine are unsure whether the tale Jack told her is true or a ruse.
