The Young and the Restless recap for May 17, 2023:
In today's episode of The Young and the Restless, Nick warns Victoria about Nate, Lauren learns the truth about Phyllis, and Ashley lashes out at Diane.

Kyle discovers Summer ready for work outdoors on the terrace. She praises him for giving her space the night before especially him revealing that her mother is alive. He feels as though he no longer knows her and is unsure what to do about it. She expresses regret and requests more time. Kyle informs her that Diane did nothing to Phyllis, so he doesn't see why she still requires time away. Summer claims there is no proof and that it will not happen overnight. She refuses to accompany him to work. She needs to do something first, and then she'll meet him there.

Ashley and Diane cross paths at the mansion. Diane assures her that they will soon become family. Ashley believes she has no concept of family and labels her as delusional if she believes she will not go to prison. Diane feels certain she will not go to prison, but she does not divulge the truth about Phyllis. Tucker comes and then takes Ashley for a stroll.

Victoria is in a nice mood at Society while with her mom who believes it has something to do with Nate. Victoria quickly changes the topic of conversation to Adam and the new company. Nikki requests that she leave him alone with it. Nikki claims that she is becoming more than her father on a regular basis. Victoria is forced to rush to the office. She walks away while her mother is shouting after her.

Nate and Audra meet in Chancellor Park. She offers him a cup of coffee. He is perplexed as to why she sent Elena to Los Angeles to locate him. She maintains she had no idea Nate had lied to Elena about who he is going with. Nate believes it should not have happened this way. They weren't a good match, according to Audra, but Elena will be just fine. She would never have supported his new vision for the future regardless. Nate interrogates her. She is aware of his activities and claims that Newman Media is insufficient for him. He wishes to co-manage Newman Enterprises with Victoria. Audra implies that Nate's moves toward Victoria were premeditated, but he points out that they were not. Audra feels envious because she desired a chance with Nate but won't fight with Victoria. Audra has ulterior motives, she wants to get to the top of Newman Media once Nate achieves his goals.
Summer approaches Chance in the GCAC lounge and inquires whether he has heard the rumors too. He is aware that Daniel saw Phyllis alive. At first, he assumed it was a ruse to persuade Diane to go free because it came from Jack. He also believes Diane did not intend to murder her mother and that there is more than they know and it has something to do with Stark. Summer inquires about her mother and what would happen to her, while Chance states that it all relies on the evidence.
Summer sees Daniel near the bar and confronts him about stabbing their mother in the back. Daniel informs her that he left her name out. He wants to find her and settle things legally before their mother is ruined. Her brother, she believes, has complicated matters. Christine and Diane now know the truth. Kyle walks in and hears her jump on Daniel. Kyle believes she's blaming him, but believes Phyllis didn't tell her she's alive because of Kyle's mother. Summer afterward takes off on Kyle, having something else that she has to do.
When Victoria returns to work, she notices Nate in her office. He leans in for a kiss, and they kiss. As things begin to heat up, there's a knock on the door, and it's Nick. He makes snide remarks, but Victoria isn't having it. Nick informs her that he met Elena last night and that she has left the condo. He believes that what his sister is doing is wrong. Nick sees a trend between his sister and the guys in her life, especially JT. Victoria is upset about it. She reassures her brother that she knows what she's doing.
