The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for May 19, 2023:

In today's episode of The Young and the Restless, Victor teaches Nick a painful lesson, Sharon receives a mysterious gift, and Tucker tries to make amends with Abby.






Sharon swoons over Aria as Adam walks in. Sally is there but watches from a little distance. Adam tells Sharon that he doesn't know how to be a parent to a girl. He's been thinking a lot about his mother and hoping that his daughter inherited both her and Sally's traits. He also hopes that the baby will not resemble him or his father. Sally steps in and tells him he'll be a wonderful father to their newborn girl. Sally and Sharon talk while Adam is across the room. Sally questions Sharon if the baby is aware of the conflict around her while noting how her condition has caused her a great deal of worry. Sharon has to attend to something else and asks Sally to watch Aria. Adam comes back and tells Sally that he dislikes the fact that she is uncomfortable around him. Sally swears she isn't. He notes that the baby is connecting them even more and it can't stop loving her. Adam understands that's not fair to her. They must find a way to get through this for the sake of the baby. She wonders whether he can do it while still respecting her boundaries. He is willing to put in the effort and reiterates his desire for a romantic connection with her. Sally leaves. While Sharon is there, Adam addresses the bottle of champagne which Sharon says she has no idea who sent it piquing Adam's curiosity.






Nick stumbles into Society where he sees Victor who invites him to join him. Nick begins to rant about Nate and Victoria. It's not good for either her or the firm. Nate, he believes, will turn on them. Victor informs him that Nate is not like the other guys in Victoria's life and that she is looking at him. He finds Nick's criticism of his sister humorous given his connection with Sally. He's confident that both relationships will cease shortly. Nick doesn't think his relationship will.






Victoria and Nate discuss their proposal in LA at her Newman office. They discuss scrutinizing every detail and how she always gets what she wants. When he receives a text message, his mood shifts. The text is from Elena who told him which storage facility to deliver her belongings to. Nate claims that this was unavoidable. He recounts how his relationship with Elena deteriorated when he retired as a doctor. Victoria wonders whether he will change his feelings towards her if it is discovered that he cheated on Elena with her. Nate declares his decision and kisses her. He tells her that he does not hold her accountable for what happened to Elena. Victoria and Nate check into the GCAC and immediately go to bed.










Devon compliments Abby on her efforts in decorating the jazz lounge. She inquires Ashley about how things are going at the Abbott residence. Her mother refuses to discuss so Tucker invites Abby to dance. They do. He understands she doesn't want him spending time with her son or mother, and he can't blame her. He informs her that he proposed to her mother. Devon expresses amazement that Tucker has moved in with Ashley. He's been surprising her in nice ways, she claims. Abby approaches and inquires as to if Tucker proposed to her. She reveals that it was all a ruse to fool Jack and Diane into thinking they were engaged. Tucker says that he hopes it was true. Their children are relieved that this isn't true. Tucker wishes he could propose to Ashley and blow her mind. They walk away. Ashley tells Tucker that she doesn't appreciate his informing Devon and Abby about his proposal.













Mariah and Tessa complete their dinner at the GCAC restaurant. Tessa wonders if they should go home but they agree to stay out. They decide to get a room. In a hot romantic setting, Tessa and Mariah turn up the heat and are happy they were able to do it spontaneously. They talk about how much affection their kid will get. She, like her mother, will develop into an extraordinary lady.










Chance visits the Abbott estate in search of Jack. Summer answers the door, and he informs her about Jack's mysterious call. He claims it has to do with DNA. She declares that her mom is definitely alive. Summer inquires as to what they may do to assist her mother. She is aware that Jack and Kyle want to use Phyllis to save Diane, but she is more concerned about her mother and requires assistance. He inquires about the ongoing conflict with Daniel. Chance believes they are attempting to find out how to deal with their mother framing Diane and murdering Stark. She must tell him everything if she wants him to assist her. She accuses him of questioning her.
