The Young and the Restless recap for May 3, 2023:
In today's episode of The Young and the Restless: Jack shares shocking news with Diane, Devon and Lily take on a new endeavor, and Summer comes clean with Daniel.
Mariah and Sharon swoon as they see baby Aria at Crimson Lights. Mariah argues that she has to rest or she'll start sobbing, and Sharon wants to cuddle her. Sharon makes Mariah coffee and worries that she's straining herself too much between parenting and work. Mariah claims Tessa has her back and that she visits the office twice per week. She asks, "Who needs sleep?" Something else is going on, according to Sharon. Sharon presses Mariah to reveal that someone questioned if Aria was her first child when she initially refuses to say anything. Although she was already pregnant with Dom, she didn't want to admit that Aria was her first child. Sharon describes it as complex. Because of Cassie, she has had to do it before as well. Because she enjoys discussing Cassie, Mariah says she is welcome to do so. Mariah ponders if they would have been complementary or antagonistic. Sharon chuckles as she says "opposites" and the baby wakes up.

At Chancellor-Winters, Daniel offers Lily coffee and asks if he can vent to her. He reluctantly informs her about Summer's messiness and his concern that she may be clinging to the idea that their mother is still alive. He claims that Summer is really angry, which isn't helping her deal with the loss. Lily is aware that there is no correct way to grieve. The mind is a strong tool. Being bereaved is devastating. In our grief, we say and do things that we might later regret. He asks her indirectly if she regrets their "night together" but she doesn't. It was something they both needed and wanted. He regrets pressuring the matter, but she is happy he reached out. He doesn't want labels and doesn't believe they are in a position to start anything fresh. She concurs. He claims "it" was more than just nice! He leaves as Devon arrives. Devon inquires about conditions in the Omegasphere. He acknowledges sensing a vibe between them. By the end of May or the beginning of June, she notes, they should have a soft rollout platform. They like that he can once more drop by her office without notice. He hopes to officially inaugurate the Athletic Club lounge by hosting a celebration for their father there tonight. Lily adores the concept. They believe he can see them and is rooting for them. They believe he can see them and is rooting for them.
Summer recalls Phyllis telling her that she is the only person who can understand what she did while they were at Chancellor Park. When Chance shows up, she is in tears. He hopes he didn't interrupt but she doesn't mind the company. Why is he not seeking Stark's killer, she queries. She is reassured by Chance that the sheriff's office is monitoring this. He was unaware that everyone was aware. Chance informs her that Stark's body was discovered outside of his area of responsibility. He quips that, unlike Sherlock Holmes, the search doesn't need pulling out a magnifying lens. He went to the park to reflect. Summer wants more specifics about Stark's death. Did he drown? Were there any onlookers or any physical proof?
Summer panics when Chance inquires as to if there is anything she is withholding. What else is there besides the fact that her mother is deceased? Chance adds she can let him know if she knows anything. She queries how she may be aware of something he is not. Chance is reluctant to press her. She apologizes for yelling at him. When Daniel enters the scene, he queries why Summer is back there. Seeing Chance was merely a coincidence; she only needed some air. He enquires about Daniel. Daniel is fine, and Summer claims they will survive. Chance leaves them to talk and Summer advises Daniel to disregard everything she said about their mother still being alive. She fabricates the claim that she guessed about Stark's murder when Daniel inquires how she knew before the information got out.
She claims she doesn't know how to exist in a world without her mother, despite Daniel's skepticism. Daniel is concerned for her. Daniel appears perplexed when Summer reveals more information that the cops haven't even revealed yet about Stark's murder. Daniel wants to know how did she find out. Summer frowns. She claims she must have read it someplace. He'll go to Chance if she doesn't tell him the truth. Summer sighs and exclaims, “Fine!” She reveals that she knows what happened to Stark because their mother told her she stabbed him to death. “She’s alive!”

Jack visits Diane. He is there to determine whether she would like to marry him. This isn't romance, she claims. She is devastated by the denial. In Jack's words, it is dedication. As he begs for permission to visit her every day, she thinks he's impossible and sobs. Even while it feels fantastic, nothing has changed, and she won't drag him down with her. He declares that Jeremy Stark is dead after she urges him to go. She is surprised and queries how. Jack believes he was killed by one of his former adversaries. This, in Diane's opinion, does not favor her either.
Diane claims that she is aware that Jeremy killed Phyllis and believes that there is no one alive who can clear her name. Jack encourages her to slow down as she paces. They'll look into it, and perhaps they'll discover evidence that he was responsible for Phyllis' demise. When Kyle shows up, Diane beams wildly at her son. She informs him that she doesn't want to ruin his life as they converse. He is aware of her innocence. Diane is aware that his marriage is suffering as a result.

Chance visits Christine at Crimson Lights to inquire about fresh details regarding Stark. She points out that this is not their situation, but Chance insists that he needs to look into it. Christine advises letting things go. The evidence is still strong in Diane's favor. Jack interrupts. Chance claims to have met the district attorney. Jack believes Chance should uncover Stark's secrets and inform them of what transpired. It's up to him to clear Diane.
