Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on June 28, 2023: Tripp makes Wendy an offer. Sloan suggests to Eric they try to make a baby. Nicole tells Chloe about how EJ's been a no-show. Xander learns that Dimitri has proposed to Gwen. Leo can't believe Gwen is considering Dimitri’s proposal.

Days of Our Lives Episode Recap June 28, 2023: Dimitri and Xander Face Off Over Gwen

Johnny is in the Square when he calls Wendy and asks her to go to dinner with him that night. She agrees and they decide he will pick her up in an hour. Tripp gets out of the shower and overhears them on the phone. He tells Wendy that he was going to invite her to dinner after his shower but missed his chance. He tells her that they have an hour and promises to show her more fun in 45 minutes than Johnny will all night. Wendy accepts his challenge and goes to get ready for her dates.

Chanel comes out of the bakery sobbing and runs into Johnny. She tells him about Abe and he comforts her the best he can. She wants to go home to see Paulina but he doesn't think she is in any condition to drive herself so he takes her home. At Wendy and Tripp's apartment, she is surprised when there is a knock on the door and Tripp is outside with flowers. They play Jenga and do shots and have a lot of fun in their 45 minutes. 

Just as Tripp is about to kiss her goodnight to end their date, Johnny calls and tells Wendy about Abe and tells her that he is with Chanel and that he doesn't want to leave until Paulina gets home. Wendy insists that he should stay even after Paulina gets home because they will both need him and tells him that they can have their date another night. After she hangs up she tells Tripp about Abe and they talk about how close Abe was to the entire Johnson family. At Paulina's Johnny promises Chanel that he isn't leaving her.

Eric is getting dressed in his room when Sloan arrives, having just finished in court. They kiss and she tells him that she wants to start trying to get pregnant. After they make love, Eric tells her that he doesn't want them to have a baby just because he wants one. Sloan assures him that she wants one too and they talk about why she wants to have a baby. They are both hungry so decide to go to dinner. 

Sloan suggests that he call Marlena to invite her and John. Eric agrees, but when he calls his mother she tells him the news about Abe. Eric is devastated by the news and is worried about Nicole finding out because she was so close to Abe. He wants to go tell her himself and Sloan understands. After he is gone she is getting dressed and says that she hopes she is pregnant so she can stop feeling guilty about messing with the paternity test.

At the mansion, Nicole is frustrated when she still can't get in touch with EJ. Chloe shows up to check on her and Nicole tells her about the good news she got from the specialist before venting about EJ disappearing. Chloe bashes him but Nicole understands because she knows EJ and accepts how important DiMera's business is to him. 

Chloe tells her that if Nicole accepts EJ's flaws then she should understand that Chloe accepts Xander's. Nicole isn't happy about it but they talk it out and she understands. After Chloe leaves Nicole tries to get in touch with EJ again and ends up throwing her phone in anger and saying she will scream if the father of her baby doesn't walk in within the next five minutes. Eric walks in at that moment.

Dimitri is leaving a voicemail about proposing to Gwen for Megan when Xander overhears part of what he is saying. He confronts him and tells him that he owns the Spectator with Gwen. Xander demands to know what Dimitri wants with Gwen and is very confrontational about it. Dimitri tells him that it's none of his business and when he realizes that Xander is Gwen's ex he blasts him for hurting her. They both lob veiled threats at the other before parting. When Xander gets home he tells Chloe about meeting Dimitri and that he and Gwen are getting married.

Gwen is working in her room when Leo comes home carrying a flower arrangement that was at the desk for them. He assumes it is for him and is annoyed when it turns out to be for Gwen, from Dimitri. They argue about Dimitri's intentions and Leo is very upset when he learns that Gwen is considering accepting his proposal. He thinks Dimitri has an ulterior motive and Gwen is upset that Leo doesn't think Dimitri could have real feelings for her. Leo apologizes and tells her that he thinks she is great but he doesn't trust Dimitri. Dimitri arrives and is sweet to Gwen before asking her if she has made a decision yet.
