Spoilers for General Hospital on June 29, 2023: Drew makes a promise. Austin is unrepentant. Liz responds to an invitation. Spencer’s temper flares. Sam and Dante enjoy a date night.
General Hospital Episode Recap June 29, 2023: Cyrus Plans For Drew's Arrival
Liz arrives at Finn's apartment and is confused when he asks why she stopped by. She tells him that she got a text from him inviting her over unless she read it wrong. Before she can text, Violet comes out and tells them that she planned a date for them and used her Dad's phone to make it happen. She reveals that she ordered flowers, dinner, and dessert and is going to be their server while they enjoy their date.
Liz and Finn don't want to disappoint her so they go along with the plan and enjoy their evening together. They talk about her new job and Violet trying to set them up. When they notice Violet has fallen asleep they put her to bed together. Before Liz leaves Finn gives her the flowers to take home and they share a tender moment, with longing looks.
Esme goes to the hospital to talk to Portia after she asks her to. She brings Ace with her because Spencer had plans. Portia wants to talk to her about how she co-parents with Spencer. Esme tells her that Spencer helps her some but he is not Ace's parent and it is always a negotiation with them. Portia suggests that they take a parenting class together and tells her about one that is offered at GH.
Spencer and Trina go to the Highsider bar to try to find evidence they can use against Esme. Joss and Dex show up with the same idea. Sam and Dant are also there on a date but decide to stay out of whatever the kids have going on. Sprina and Jex talk about the fake evidence that Victor left and argue about using it. Spencer gets angry when Dex tells him why it's a bad idea to use it. Joss tells Dex they should leave and when they get up Spencer sucker punches Dex. Words are exchanged and when Spencer swings again, Dex blocks it and puts him on the floor, in pain.
Sam and Dante come over and Dante asks Dex if he wants to press charges since Spencer hit him first. Dex declines to do that and he and Joss leave. Dante helps Spencer up and advises him not to start bar rights as an ex-felon on probation. Sam and Dante go back to their date and Trina rips into Spencer before storming out angrily. Trina goes to the hospital to see her mother and check on things between her and Curtis and Spencer goes home.
Sam and Dante dance and enjoy their alone time at the bar. Esme comes to check on Spencer, worried when she saw him race up to his room so quickly. She sees his bruises and asks about them but he snaps at her and she leaves him alone. At Dex's apartment, Joss wants to know if he's ok and Dex assures her that he is fine. She kisses him as they lay on the bed and tells him that since he is injured he should let her take care of him. Dex happily agrees.
At Wyndemere Ava is drinking a martini and remembering what happened in the park with Austin. He knocks on her door and insists they have to talk. Ava opens the door and tells him that she doesn't want to talk to him but he comes in anyway and pours himself a drink. She berates him and accuses him of getting her dragged into a mess but he points out that she is the one who got him dragged into it since he was helping her. They talk about Mason and his bosses and Austin remains vague about who they are. Ava tells him that she can tell that he is afraid of them and asks him why he is helping her. Austin kisses her in response.
In Carly's room, Drew is determined to enjoy their last night together but Carly feels guilty. She tells him about Michael's evidence against Sonny and Drew understands why she couldn't use it. He tells her that what they are doing is the right thing for everyone and that he doesn't regret it. Drew tells her that he loves her and wants a life with her. He tells her that he wants them to move in together and share everything. Carly tells him that she loves him too and will wait as long as she has to for them to share their lives.
They dance and make love and then we see Cyrus in Pentonville reading a Bible verse ominously. After Carly and Drew make love she asks him to promise to be careful so that he comes home to her safely as soon as he can. Drew promises and they kiss. We see Cyrus again and he is telling a guard the Drew Cain is coming the next day and that they are very good friends.
