Performer of the Week



This week was one of the easiest Performer of the Week decisions we have ever made, and it was unanimous. Sharon Case, who plays Sharon Newman on The Young and the Restless, turned in outstanding performances every day this week. A pivotal part of her rich history as the character she has played for almost 30 years was the basis for the storyline that played out and Case nailed every second of it. She played Sharon’s terror, rage, and resolve to perfection. Sharon was facing down the man, Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby), who had terrorized her decades before to save her beloved daughter, Faith (Reylynn Caster), and was willing to die doing it. Nick (Joshua Morrow) had told Cameron that Sharon was no longer the scared, weak girl she had been when he had last seen her, and truer words couldn’t have been spoken when it came to Sharon. Her strength and growth over the last 2 decades were on full display this week and it was an absolute joy to watch Case play. Many actors struggle to put together a Daytime Emmy submission reel, but this year Case will have the opposite problem. How can she possibly condense this down, short enough to showcase her best scenes within the time constraints put on submissions? It will certainly be a struggle because every moment was amazing acting, every line, every expression, and every inflection of her voice was absolute perfection. Any aspiring soap actress should watch Case’s scenes this week as a wonderful how-to for the soap genre and that is why we are naming Sharon Case our Performer of the Week. Congratulations Sharon!


Days of Our Lives

It was a hot week in Salem! Megan DiMera is plotting and plotting. She met with Li and plotted with him to get rid of Stefan. As EJ learned of her plans, she knocked him out and tied him up. Kristen found him and was ready to rescue him but Megan caught her and tied her up too. Sloan suggested to Eric that they have a baby together and he agreed. They eventually shared the news with Nicole. Abe discovered something about his past as Whitley continued to lie to him. John and Steve searched for clues to locate Abe. Gwen finally had her interview with Dimitri and her protective bestie, Leo tried to protect her from another heartbreak. Bonnie struggled to keep Sarah's secret a secret but confided the truth to Justin Chad took off his wedding ring and was ready for the future. Stephanie confided in Alex. 



General Hospital


Nina was a bundle of nerves as she realized that once Ned woke up her secret could be exposed. Thanks to Ava who encouraged her to tell Sonny the truth. Zeke finally learned the truth about who Jordan is. Portia told her truth to Trina and Spencer. Drew decided to sacrifice himself and save Carly. TJ updated Olivia with some news about Ned. Sam gave Cody a suggestion. Gladys had to answer Sonny's questions. Tracy wasn't too pleasant to Cody when they crossed paths. Trina bonded with Curtis as Taggert broke down but Jordan was there to help him through. 



The Bold and the Beautiful

Hope continued to battle her feelings for Thomas. Liam went on and on to just about anybody he could tell about Thomas. RJ got some attention as then men got into shape. Brooke announced her going to Rome. Steffy offered to keep an eye on things between Thomas and Hope. Brooke's sisters; Donna and Katie supported her. Taylor was left disappointed. Everyone jetted off to Rome for the big fashion preview. Deacon listened to Liam whine about Thomas and Wyatt gave his brother some advice. 



The Young and the Restless


It was a drama-filled week. Adam was left to make a hard decision after Sally was rushed to the hospital with the pains she was feeling. Nick supported Sharon after their daughter was abducted by Cameron and Chance was there to help. Victor did as much as he could. Kyle and Audra got acquainted. Summer begged Mariah to help her. Diane told Summer she would encourage Kyle to forgive her. Jack, Diane, Tucker and Ashley got into it another time. Lily told Daniel that maybe he should let his mother experience prison. Billy helped Chelsea with Connor. 


Honorary Mentions


We had a host of superb performances this week. Reylynn Caster as Faith Newman (Y&R) got a chance to show off her acting chops as Faith was in a dire situation. Joshua Morrow (Nick, Y&R) was off the charts as a father fighting to rescue his daughter meanwhile Linden Ashby (Cameron, Y&R) blew our minds as the villain we knew we needed as he upended the lives of Sharon and Nick. Then, we had the gutwrenching and heartbreaking performance by Real Andrews as Taggert (GH) who was struggling to come to terms with the harsh reality that after all these years, Trina wasn't his biological daughter. Lisa LoCicero as Olivia (GH) literally broke our hearts as she played the part of a worried wife wondering if her husband would make it after his nasty fall and James Reynolds (Abe, DAYS) once again showed off his incredible acting chops as amnesiac Abe this week. Congrats to all on getting the honorary mentions this week.
