Y&R Recap for June 20, 2023: Nick Supports Adam and Sally

The Young and the Restless recap for June 20, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Victor shares words of wisdom with Adam, Nick and Sally’s relationship is tested, and Sharon sees a new side to Nikki.

Sharon and Nick hope that Faith can get some sleep and the sewage scent off of her. Nick wants to wait around until Sharon showers but she insists that they are fine and he should go check on Sally and get some sleep too. When Nick leaves, Faith comes and Sharon is frightened for a bit. Faith was terrified of being alone upstairs. Faith notices Cameron's duffel bag and begs her mother to place it on the porch until the cops arrive to pick it up. 

Sally, in her hospital room, wonders how Adam could do this. He doesn't get it. He needed to make a decision, and Elena didn't give him much time to make one. Sally was unconscious, and this was not something they had discussed. He had to choose Sally since the baby's lungs would not have been ready. Sally is shocked that he picked her over the kid. He claims that was not the case. But he couldn't let her go. Sally reminds him that she is no longer his and accuses him. Adam describes it as the most difficult decision of his life but believes he made the right one. 

Sally wants what was taken from her. He is concerned about her. She sobs and grips her chest, and he fears that she needs a doctor, but all she wants is her daughter.  Sally does not want to go on without her. She didn't want it to disappoint her daughter the same way her mother had failed her. Sally begins to blame herself. Adam loved her and would have cared for her. He would have completely spoilt her. Sally tells him to go. Elena arrives to check on Sally and makes Adam leave.

When Nick appears, Adam explains the situation. He inquires as to why his brother did not call and discovers that they were in a life-or-death situation. Adam claims that they lost the baby. Nick is at a loss for words. Nick visits Sally and kisses her. He ought to have been there. She informs him that it should have been her. Adam had to choose between her and the kid, and he went with her. Nick believes he made the correct decision. She sobs in his arms and begs him not to let her go.

He walks away, and Elena hands Adam a bag. Nick suggests that Sally take medication to help her sleep. Elena departs, and Nick could do with a drink. He and Adam arrange to meet at Society. Elena returns to Sally to express her regret. She offers to sit with her, but Sally prefers to sleep, so she informs her that the nurse will be there shortly to help. 

With a present from the nurses, Sally opens it to find small booties and a card with her name, Ava Spectra, written on them. Sally sobs. She swears she will never forget Ava. She has to say her goodbyes and will do so while holding her. She activates the call button and requests to see her baby. 

Adam meets Nick at Society. He expresses gratitude, and Adam informs his brother that they had to induce labor due to danger and a lack of time. There was a difficulty, and Elena pressed him to make a decision. Nick understands, and while he regrets having to pick, he is pleased his brother was present.  Nick assures him that he made the correct decision. He realizes he'll never be able to persuade him that it wasn't his fault. 

Before Nick leaves, the men embrace. Nick returns to Sharon's house and informs her and Faith of the baby's death. The women are worried when they discover Adam is alone. Faith hugs her father, and before she goes to bed, Nick inquires about Sharon's well-being following the murder of Cameron. She swears she is OK. Sharon says for the first time since Rey's death, she feels alive, active, and awake. 

Back at Society, Adam opens the identical small pink box Sally had. Victor approaches him and expresses his condolences for his loss. Adam holds himself responsible. Victor attempts to convince him that it isn't true, but Adam believes it is due to something in his genetic composition. Victor says he's been through something similar. Victor claims he made a mistake by turning away from everyone. When something like this happens, you turn to those who care about you. Adam claims there is no one and that he must go through this alone. Victor disputes this. Adam believes that people will be content to hang the baby's death over his head. Victor, Sally, and Connor will be there for him. He only needs to ask. Adam only wants Sally's forgiveness. Victor claims he cannot expect that from her right now. In due course... Adam appreciates it, but nothing else counts.
