Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for July 17, 2023: Whitley Drugs Lani!
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on July 17, 2023: Rafe and Paulina become concerned when Lani is a no-show. Steve and John break into Jerry’s apartment. Brady rips up the custody agreement. Belle and Jada connect over the search for Rachel.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap July 17, 2023: Whitley Drugs Lani!
Steve bangs on Jerry's door but doesn't get an answer. John shows up and they break in his door but the window's open and he's gone! They search the apartment but don't find any clues as to where he went. Steve calls Jada and she agrees to help them check the airport and bus station. John and Steve go over the information they have but both agree that it doesn't make sense that Jerry would have kidnapped Abe and reported seeing him go into the water without even demanding a ransom.
Steve and John know they aren't going to get the answers they need without finding him. Jerry's printer starts to make noise and they discover that it's jammed. After fixing it they see he was trying to print out bus schedules so they head to the bus station to try and stop him before he leaves. Belle comes to the Salem PD to talk to Jada about Rachel. They talk about Shawn feeling guilty about getting Rafe fired. Jada also feels guilty and very overwhelmed, She insists that the police department needs Rafe, especially with everything they have going on.
Rafe arrives at Paulina's to escort Lani back to prison but Paulina tells him that she's not there. They go to the park to look for her but she's nowhere to be found. Paulina starts to freak out and lashes out at Rafe for being distracted by his relationship with Lani and not finding Abe. She has a panic attack and Rafe brings to the hospital to get checked out.
At the hospital, Whitley gives Kayla her two-week notice. Kayla tries to talk her out of quitting and asks her about overhearing her saying she has to put her needs first. Whitley evades her questions and insists that she has to leave Salem for her own well-being. Kayla asks her to go to her office to do her paperwork but Whitley tells her that she has to get home to pack right away and will handle everything online.
Kayla examines Paulina and tells her that she is ok, she just had too much to handle all at once. She tells her to rest a bit and then she will check her numbers again. After she leaves the room Paulina apologizes to Rafe and he tells her that they are fine. They discuss Lani and are both concerned. The prison calls and Rafe lets it go to voicemail but then calls them back and tells them that Lani is with him and he will have her back that night. After he hangs up he tells Paulina he bought some time but they have to find her quickly.
At the DiMera mansion, Brady rips up the agreement and demands that Kristen tells him where Rachel is. She angrily tells him that he's not in charge but he pulls a gun on her and tells her that he is. They argue and he has her pinned against a chair when Rachel runs in and yells at him to leave her mom alone. Brady quickly puts the gun away and asks Rachel to wait by the door for him. She doesn't want to leave but does as he tells her.
Brady angrily confronts Kristen again and tells her that she went too far and that he is going to tell Rachel every horrible thing she has done. Rachel comes back in and yells that she doesn't want to go but Brady picks her up and carries her out as she cries for Kristen. Kristen calls Belle and she comes over. Kristen emotionally asks her to talk to Brady because he will listen to her and it's best for Rachel. Belle tells her that actions have consequences and refuses to help her.
Brady brings Rachel home and is trying to talk to her when there is a knock on the door. He tells her to go into her room and then puts John's gun back in its lockbox before answering to door. It's Jada and he's relieved to see her. He tells her that he was right and that Kristen had Rachel but that she's home now. He asks her to go arrest Kristen but Jada tells him that she is there to arrest him and asks if he pulled a gun on Kristen. Brady is angry that Kristen called the police on him after kidnapping Rachel but Rachel runs out and yells that she was the one who called the police on him.
At Whitley's Lani talks to Abe and tells him who she is and tries to convince him that Whitley is not his wife but he is confused by the drugs and still has amnesia. Before she can get him out of there Whitley shows up and they argue. Lani tells her that she is Abe's daughter and that she is taking him home. She also tells Whitley that she is crazy and will be going to prison. When Lani turns to get his chair Whitley stabs her with a syringe and Lani collapses on the floor as a horrified Abe looks on.
