General Hospital recap for Friday, July 21, 2023:
Today on General Hospital, Dex gets a new assignment. Josslyn gets shocking news. Drew is suspicious. Nina rushes to the hospital. Ava reassures Austin.
GH Recap Today
Carly pays Drew a visit. He is overjoyed to see her and has missed her greatly. She says she spoke with Sam and that Scout is determined to pay him a visit as soon as possible. Drew is thinking about something. It's Cyrus who welcomed him upon his arrival at Pentonville. She doesn't need to be concerned because he has everything under control. He points out that Sonny is taking care of things. She is content, yet all she wants is for him to return home. She informs him that Willow has returned home. Drew offers to sell Aurora because Carly looks worried. She will not accept it. Carly reluctantly informs Drew that Curtis has been shot. She doesn't know what happened to him; she doesn't know who shot him, but no one else was harmed, and the PCPD wasn't certain he was the intended target. She pledges to keep him updated as soon as she learns more. Her visit is over, and they exchange I love you.
Joss and Dex go to the Metro Court Pool. They discuss the shooting. She claims that they both know who the bullet was meant for. Curtis happened to be in the wrong location at the wrong moment, and the bullet was intended for Sonny. Dex could have been the one who was shot. He assures her that it's not the case. He has never loved someone as much as he loves her, and he will not abandon her. Dex receives a phone call from Sonny. He summons him to keep an eye on Austin Gatlin Holt. Dex departs, pleading with Josslyn to complete the book while he is gone. Josslyn receives a phone call that leaves her stunned.
GH Recap Today
Austin doesn't appear to be having a good time on the double date. Sonny inquires if there is a problem with his toast. Austin admires him. He wants to know what will happen if people let him down. Austin receives a phone call and excuses himself. Gladys calls Sonny to tell him that Sasha has been arrested and is in the hospital. He and Nina make their way there.
When Curtis can't feel his legs, he becomes agitated and demands answers. The doctor explains. He needs to look at some of the test results so he can figure out what's going on. Curtis is confident that everything will be OK once he regains control of his life. Portia believes he needs to rest. But he needs to tell her something. He tells her about his conversation with Sam. He wants her to know that his feelings for her will not change, no matter what happens. He's feeling better by the minute. Portia departs, claiming she is going to check on a patient.
GH Recap Today
Diane arrives at the hospital on the phone and runs into Robert. She is there to see her client, Sasha Gilmore, who needs compassion and complete dedication. She will not have him interrogate her client in her current condition. He is not there to prosecute her client, but on the other hand, he is there to look out for Sasha.
Gladys promises Sasha will get better and will get her all the help she needs. Dr. Montague arrives to help. Sasha is ushered into the hospital room as Gladys approaches the doctor. He doesn't take too well to it and asks her to back off; she's done her part, and now he will do his. The doctor gives her an injection, He asks her to tell him what she remembers. She tells him her version of events.
Gladys attempts to prevent Robert and Diane from speaking with Sasha. Diane steps in and insists that Sasha stop talking, and the doctor immediately switches off the recording. Dr. Montague orders Diane to go, but she makes it apparently clear that she is not leaving. He claims Diane is too late because Sasha has already revealed far too much to him.
Sonny and Nina show up. Gladys informs them that Diane is with Sasha. Gladys notices something strange; it's as if something forced Sasha to do it. Diane appears and informs them that Sasha requires assistance and will be admitted to the Ferncliff Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
TJ consults with the doctor in private. They succeeded in removing the bullet, but was it sufficient? TJ loses his cool, and Portia enters. As they embrace in tears, Portia pleads, "No, please don't say it." Portia returns to Curtis. He urges her to schedule a therapy appointment because, no matter what, he will walk and stand on his own two legs and, one day, he will carry her in his arms and they will dance the night away. He learns that none of the physicians believe he will be able to walk again after the consultation. He asks her for some alone time. He bursts into tears as she walks away.
