The Young and the Restless Recap for Monday, July 31, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Phyllis works to rebuild her image, Tessa helps Mariah with an important decision, and Nick puts Adam on notice.

Phyllis has a dream of Nick visiting her. He lashes out at her for faking her death and destroying what Summer and Kyle had. He is there to make her a deal; if she is acquitted he will pay for all her legal fees and all she has to do is leave town forever.

Summer is seated at the bar in the Jazz Lounge when Daniel walks in. She notices he looks happy and wonders why. He says that while life isn't perfect, things are going great with Lily and Omega Sphere. Intrigued, Summer considers trying his video game, hoping it might help improve her own life. Just then, Phyllis arrives and apologizes for being late. They inquire if it's difficult for her to be there, given that they held a memorial for her in the same spot. Phyllis chooses to let it all go and move on, hoping they can too. She's excited for a second chance with her kids and asks for their opinion on working for Adam Newman. Daniel laughs, questioning whether it's wise to take a job with someone so shady, given that she wants to rebuild her reputation. Phyllis needs money to take care of business but refuses to accept it from them. Summer suggests returning to Marchetti, but Phyllis declines. Although she can handle Adam, she's worried about his partners, especially Nick. Summer is confident that once her mother gets in front of a jury, they will understand what she did, besides she has a witness on her side. 

Mariah and Tessa bring Aria to visit Sharon and ask how she's doing after the Cameron incident. Sharon confidently replies that Faith will be okay and that she is moving forward with her new company. Mariah was curious about how Sharon is working with Adam and Nick, considering their history of animosity towards each other. Sharon acknowledges that it is a new challenge, but she is confident they will figure it out. Tessa finds Sharon to be an inspiration. Sharon then surprises Mariah by asking if she would consider leaving Jabot to work with her. Mariah had not expected this and had planned to return to Jabot full-time after her maternity leave. Sharon explains that they needed someone vibrant, creative, and forward-thinking to be the Director or Vice President of Marketing. She understands if Mariah doesn't want to leave Jabot, but wanted to offer the opportunity. Mariah promises to take some time to think it through. Sharon has to leave for a meeting. 

Mariah asks Tessa what she really thinks about the opportunity. They weigh the pros and cons of this decision. Tessa encourages Mariah to trust her judgment. Tessa actually thinks this is a good opportunity. 

Y&R Recap Today

Adam informs Nick about his recent meeting with Victor, who is currently in Germany. They are awaiting further instructions from Victor, and Nick speculates if Adam may have upset him again. Despite this, Nick commends Adam for his efforts. However, Nick believes that this is potentially another test from their father, and suggests that they focus on doing what's best for the business rather than settling old scores. Adam disagrees, arguing that they should not wait for their father's approval and make decisions based on what's right for the business now. Nick disagrees, stating that they should concentrate on making a positive impact and changing the perception of their business. He also suggests changing the name from Adustus which is pretty dark. Sharon arrives. Adam says Nick was trying to get them to change the name of the company. He admits that the name Adustus came from a dark place. 

Sharon suggests that the group should view their new company as a fresh start with a promising future. Adam reminds them of their repeated attempts to sway his opinion, which have never succeeded. Do they genuinely believe they can change him? Sharon suggests that he enjoys playing the villain, but they know otherwise. Adam relents and offers to let go of his resentment. He should focus on the future and not worry about Victoria and Victor's manipulative tactics. Adam confesses that he made a decision without consulting them and offered Phyllis the position of head of IT. Nick is furious and accuses Phyllis of breaking his daughter's heart and possibly ending up in jail. Phyllis calls and accepts Adam's job offer, but needs his help with something.
