Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on August 14, 2023: Justin updates the group on the whereabouts of Victor’s plane. Shawn worries about his grandfather. Brady and Chloe come to an agreement. Li and Melinda debate starting over.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap August 14, 2023: Julie Sends The Perfect Gift
Brady kisses Chloe until she pushes him away. She asks what the hell he's doing and he apologizes, telling her that he feels a pull between them all the time. She tells him that she is with Xander and he tells her that he knows about Xander's marriage proposal and that he wants to talk her out of saying yes. Chloe tells him that she knows Xander has done bad things but so have both of them.
Brady begs her to give them another chance but she tells him that she is committed to Xander and her relationship with him. Brady asks if she is going to marry Xander and she tells him that she hasn't decided. She offers Brady her friendship and he promises to try to understand her relationship with Xander. They agree to just be friends. When Xander gets home he updates them about what is going on with Victor.
At the Pub, Shawn and Belle talk about Rafe and Jada's reaction to his new job and Brady losing custody of Rachel to Kristen. Justin tells the family at the Kiriakis mansion that Victor's plane is missing. Maggie asks if he thinks the plane crashed but Justin doesn't know. Victor didn't file a flight plan when he went to see Bo just in case Megan DiMera was watching his travel trying to track down where Bo is being treated.
Belle tells Shawn about Xander proposing to Chloe and he is shocked to find out that Chloe is considering it. Maggie tries to call Victor but can't get through so she calls Shawn and asks him to call his mother to see if Victor is still with them. Hope tells Shawn that Victor left 3 days before and Shawn relays that to Maggie. The family talk about all of the different reasons there could be for Victor to be out of contact and perfectly fine. Justin decides to call Shane at the ISA to see if he can find anything out.
Shawn and Belle talk about his call with Hope and Victor's disappearance. Maggie sends everyone home, promising to keep everyone updated. Xander asks what she wanted to tell him earlier but Maggie lies and tells him that she doesn't remember what she was going to say. Shawn tells Belle about his fears over how he and Victor left things and what will happen if they never get a chance to fix things. Belle tries to assure him that won't happen. At the mansion, Maggie goes to lie down and Shane calls Justin and tells him that the wreckage of Victor's jet was found and there is no word on any survivors.
Gabi is unwrapping wedding gifts and is baffled when she unwraps two bulletproof vests. She reads the note and sees that they are from Julie and Doug and knows that Julie is having a little fun at their expense. Li shows up and tells her that he has a gift for her and Stefan for their wedding. Gabi asks if it's a bomb and Li tells her that he would never hurt her. She accuses him of being behind Harris trying to shoot Stefan but he denies it.
Stefan goes to Melinda's office to find out the status of the investigation into Li. She tells him that there is nothing she can do without evidence. Stefan accuses her of not prosecuting Li because she is dating him. Li tells Gabi that he was hoping they could be friends but she makes it clear that will never happen and that all she wants is to see him in jail.
Li tells Gabi he won't be going to jail and she asks if that is because he is screwing the DA. Li tells her that he isn't sleeping with Melinda and tells her what actually happened between him and Melinda. Gabi asks if he is romancing Melinda to keep her from prosecuting him and he says that's not a bad idea but he really is just trying to move on. Gabi tells her to stay out of his life and slams the door in his face.
After Melinda tells Stefan about what happened with her and Li, he asks how they are going to take Li down. Melinda tells him that she can't do anything without evidence. Stefan compliments her and tells her that he knows she can do what needs to be done to put Li away. When Stefan gets home he and Gabie discuss their wedding gifts and he tells her that he found another one outside, holding up the gift Li tried to give her.
Gabi tells Stefan that he has to get rid of it, convinced that it's a bomb. Stefan shakes it and it starts ticking so he puts it in water before opening it and finding out it's a clock. Li and Melinda run into each other at the bar and snark at each other before agreeing to give it another shot, both of them thinking about their conversations with Stefan and Gabi.
