Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on August 30, 2023: Gabi and Stefan do some investigative work. Dimitri schemes to sort out the validity of his marriage. Leo runs into Sonny. Alex struggles with guilt in the wake of Victor’s death.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap August 30, 2023: Gabi Gets Answers
Elliot is trying to eat his breakfast at the Inn when there is a knock at his door. He thinks it's housekeeping and tries to send them away but the knocking continues. He finally answers it and sees that Gabi is his visitor. She barges into his room and tells him she wants to enroll her daughter in his school. He tells her he isn't the one who handles those things, so she asks for the name and number of who to call. Elliot is flustered, and Gabi keeps pushing him until she catches him in a lie he can't cover. He finally tells her who he really is and why he's there.
Kristen greets Gwen and Dimitri when they arrive home. She is caught off guard when Gwen tells her that she knows everything but Dimitri quickly cuts in with the cover story he told Gwen about how he and Kristen needed to have an emergency strategy session regarding their DiMera stock before the next meeting. Gwen goes to unpack so they can talk business, and Kristen tells him what Elliot is there for.
Dimitri panics about how to convince Elliot that his marriage is real without Gwen knowing what is going on, and Kristen leaves him alone to figure it out. Gwen comes down and sees that he's upset and he covers and tells her that it's about business. He tells her he is going for a walk to clear his head and think it all through, and she wishes him luck before he goes.
Stefan gets Rachel alone and tricks her into playing "20 Questions" with him like she did with Gabi. He gets her to reveal that Dimitri had a sleepover with someone but before he can get more details Kristen interrupts them and gets Rachel out of there. When Gabi gets home he tells her he almost got what they needed and she tells him not to worry about it because she found out everything from Elliot.
Leo runs into Sonny in the Square and offers his condolences about Victor. Sonny isn't happy to see him and throws some barbs his way and Leo tells him that he has a very handsome, rich boyfriend who he is in love with. Sonny is doubtful so Leo shows him a picture but it's just of Dimitri's torso so Sonny still isn't convinced. Before he leaves, Sonny tells Leo that they aren't friends anymore after everything that happened around Bonnie's kidnapping.
After Leo gets back to his room, Dimitri shows up in a panic about Elliot and the codicil. He tells Leo what's going on and tries to come up with an idea of how to deal with it all. He considers hiring someone to pose as Gwen and says he needs someone he can trust. Leo suggests himself for the role.
Chad surprises Stephanie with breakfast, but they are interrupted by Alex. He tells them that he's not there to horn in on their meal, but he needs to talk to Stephanie about a business issue. He asks her to handle things with Yuri herself because he isn't doing well with the loss of Victor. Chad asks him if he's just going to close himself off and be alone, and Alex admits that was his plan. He confides in them about his guilt over how he and Victor left things after his fight with Maggie.
Chad suggests that the best way to make it up to Victor would be for Alex to fix things with Maggie and Alex agrees, thanking him for his advice before leaving. Stephanie compliments Chad for being a good friend to Alex. Alex runs into Sonny at the Kiriakis mansion and they talk about things with him and Maggie. Sonny thinks it's good that he is going to repair the rift. They find a photo album of Victor on the table and look through it together. (Photos: JPI Studios)
