General Hospital Episode Recap August 28, 2023: Curtis Makes a Big Decision
Robert meets Anna at the pool and asks her what she needs and she tells him she needs a favor, no questions asked. Anna tells Robert that she needs him to use his contacts with the feds and the WSB to find out if Valentin is working for Pikeman. Robert wants her to tell him everything that's going on.
Robert asks Anna if she thinks Valentin has anything to do with her house burning down. Anna tells him that he promised to not ask questions and Robert tells her that he lied. She tells him that Valentin is complicated and theorizes that he could still be working for Pikeman. Robert asks why she doesn't just confront him directly and Anna says she can't. Robert laughs that she can't trust Valentin. Anna tells him she needs him to find out the truth because she doesn't know what it is anymore.
Valentin arrives and Robert leaves quickly. Valentin asks Anna what's wrong with him and she lies and tells him that Robert is worried about Robin. They talk about his lunch date with Charlotte and he tells her he isn't hungry but he will join her for dinner. She asks him to order her more wine while she goes to the lady's room.
Martin greets Lucy happily when she arrives at the pool and then she throws his drink in his face. She confronts him about the alimony that he receives and he finally admits it before asking why she cares. She tells him that she's upset because that's why he doesn't want to marry her. He reminds her that she told him that doesn't want to get married either and she tells him that was her attempt at reverse psychology. Martin tells her that he loves her but she accuses him of loving the money more.
Martin reminds her that neither of them is good at marriage and then eyes her before asking how she found out about his alimony. Lucy admits that she went to Pine Valley and snooped. Martin can't believe she was willing to break the law and can't believe she did something like that. She turns it around and tells him that she can't believe he kept the alimony a secret from her. Martin tells her that it's in the past and doesn't matter anymore and all he cares about is her.
Lucy tells him if that's true then he should tell his ex-wife he doesn't want the alimony anymore. Martin tells her that it's $50,000 and asks her if that's really what she wants. She admits that she doesn't know and tells him that she's not in a place to be demanding he give up that much money when she could be bankrupt soon. She is venting to him about the case when Valentin motions him into the hallway.
Valentin asks Martin if he's heard back and Martin tells him that he has and it's not good news. Valentin tells him that the clock is ticking and he needs Martin to get it done so he can take the next step. Valentin goes back to Anna's table and she asks if everything is ok. Valentin tells her it was just business and asks about her day. Martin asks Lucy what she wants for dinner but Lucy tells him she's not hungry because she is too nervous about the hearing.
Joss is bussing the outside tables at Kelly's when Trina stops by. Joss tells her that it's not glamorous but she's happy to be able to help her mom. Trina is sad that she can't help her mother and Joss asks if things have gotten any better. Trina tells her that she thinks they're getting worse and she doesn't know what to do to help. Trina tells Joss that she feels it's partly her fault because her lashing out at her mother when she found out Curtis could be her father put her mother in a vulnerable state.
She thinks it could have played a part in her mother coming down so hard on Curtis about the kiss with Jordan which drove a wedge between them and made it easier for Curtis to push her mother away. Joss tells Trina that it's not her fault and that they are adults who are responsible for their own actions.
Carly thanks Diane for coming to Kelly's and they talk about her new path. Carly tells her that it's going better than she ever thought it could and that working there makes her feel closer to her family. Diane tells her that it's nice to see her happy and Carly tells her that she'd be happier if Drew was out of prison. She tells Diane that she has to get him out.
Diane tries to tell Carly that she doesn't think there is anything she can do for Drew but Carly isn't willing to accept that. She has a bunch of ideas of things Diane can try and finally Diane tells her that she could argue bias on the judge's part. Carly asks if that means she'll take the case and Diane tells her that it depends. She asks Carly if it's her or Drew hiring her.
Diane asks if Drew knows she is trying to hire her and Carly tells her that he does and she was just with him at Pentonville. Diane asks how he is and Carly says that he is holding up. She says he can survive but he shouldn't have to. Diane tells her that the appeals process can take years and is a rollercoaster of emotion. She suggests that the best thing may be for him to just finish out his sentence.
Carly begs her to help get him out and Diane says it's very tricky to get a new judge. Carly suggests she pull strings or get help from Robert right before Robert comes in. He tells Diane he stopped by to tell her that he bought a new set of wheels. Diane is surprised and he tells her that he is opening himself up for new possibilities. He asks her if he can take her for a spin and behind his back Carly motions for her to accept. Diane tells him she will check her schedule and get back to him before heading for the door. As she is leaving Carly calls after her, asking about the "other thing" and Diane calls back that she's on it.
Kristina comes to Alexis' office and thanks her for suggesting Diane for the board of her foundation because she said yes. She also wants to apologize for ignoring her at the pool earlier. Kristina tells her that she was looking for her and Esme said she was at the pool so she went there to talk to her but when she saw her with Molly and a woman she assumed was the surrogate she got upset and left.
Kristina doesn't want what's going on with her and Molly to affect her and Alexis. Alexis promises that it won't. She tells her that she is her mother and she loves her. Kristina asks about the surrogate and Alexis tells her that she liked her. Kristina is happy for her sister and knows she will make a great mother. Alexis tries to reassure her that she and Molly love each other and will get past their issues.
Gregory interrupts them and Kristina leaves. Alexis asks if he is there to work and he tells her that he is but he isn't sure how many working days he has left. He tells her that he told Finn and Alexis tells him that they talked about it and about her already knowing Gregory asks if he is upset and Alexis tells him that Finn is more concerned about him. She assures him that she and Finn are fine and more worried about him. Gregory thanks her again for keeping his secret.
Alexis asks how Chase took it and Gregory admits he hasn't told him yet. He just wants a few more days of normalcy. He thanks her again and she tells him that he will tell Chase when he's ready. Gregory wonders what will happen if he's never ready to tell him. Alexis tells her that he's not giving Chase enough credit because he was raised by a great dad. She tells him how much she admires him and they hug.
Liz finds Finn on the roof and he asks if Gregory told her about his diagnosis. Liz tells him that she did and Finn talks to her about his feelings about it all. They talk about the Disney trip. Finn isn't sure Gregory still wants to go because he doesn't want Violet to see him have another episode. Liz reminds him that kids are resilient and that they need to enjoy the good times they have left with Gregory.
Finn is being hard on himself for how much he pushed his family away when his father never gave up on him. Liz tells him that it's his turn to not give up and his father and to put everything on the table to be there for his father. Finn thanks her for being there for him and she tells him that she's here for him every step of the way before they share a hug.
Curtis is working out alone when Stella stops by to visit. She questions if he is pushing himself too much and he tells her that he's ready to get out of there and go home. Stella disagrees. She tells him that it's going to be a huge adjustment and that he needs to talk to his physical therapist so he's prepared for what he's facing. He tells her that he doesn't want to talk to someone who doesn't know him.
Stella says that she knows him so he should talk to her. She tells him that she knows he can't stay there forever but she needs to know he is ready before he leaves. He asks if he should sit around feeling sorry for himself and she makes it clear that he needs to deal with his emotions around what happened. He tries to interrupt her but she shuts him down.
Curtis rages about how everything was going so well and then his shooting happened and ruined everything. Stella tells him that it might be to show him how strong he is and he admits he doesn't feel strong. She reminds him that FDR ran the country from a wheelchair and that there are different kinds of strengths. She tells him that he has a superpower inside and until he finds it they are all standing right beside him.
Stella asks him what life at home looks like for him now and asks if he is going to try to do everything on his own and shut Portia out. Curtis admits they were making progress but once he found out he was paralyzed he was deliberately hurtful to drive her away. Stella tells him that Portia didn't leave and he needs to let them in. She tells him that she knows he is a proud man but they are not looking at him with pity. She tells him to open his heart and let Portia in and if he can do that he may be ready to go home. Curtis agrees that he has to put his life back together.
Portia thanks Marshall for coming to her office and tells him that Curtis is getting released but that she's worried that he's not coming home because neither of them has heard from him. Portia tells him that she made the house wheelchair accessible but she's scared that he made other plans. Marshall doesn't think that's the case and tells her to be patient and let Curtis do things in his own time.
Marshall talks about how he pushed his family away to protect them when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He tells her that Curtis loves her but he doesn't know what their relationship is going to be like so he could be avoiding her to avoid the questions he doesn't have the answers to yet. Trina comes by after Marshall leaves and Portia tells her that Curtis is being released the next day. Trina is excited but Portia tells him that Curtis may not come home. Portia gets a phone call from Curtis and she is thrilled when he tells her that he is coming home and that while it might be difficult they will get through it together.
