Spoilers for General Hospital on Thursday, August 31, 2023: Diane’s curiosity is piqued. Brook Lynn lashes out. Chase makes a proposition. Spencer confides in Alexis. Ava is frustrated.
General Hospital Episode Recap Thursday, August 31, 2023: Austin Has a Houseguest
Diane runs into Robert in the courthouse and he flirts with her. Diane is surprised that he is there to see her. Robert says that since she didn't take him to the car show, he brought the car show to her and asks her to go for a ride with him. She tells him that she can't right now because she is working, she is there on Drew's behalf. She tells Robert the judge handed down an unfair sentence. He agrees but asks what she is going to do about it now.
Diane tells him she is there on Carly's behalf and is trying to prove the judge was biased against Drew. Robert asks if he can help. Diane doesn't think he can but they go over what happened at the sentencing. Robert wishes her luck and Diane says she wishes there was some way to get concrete proof of the judges's bias against Drew.
Robert tells her it will be an uphill battle and Diane says that's insane considering all the good Drew has done. Robert admits that it's weird that the judge threw the book at him. Diane asks Robert if he can ask the WSB to put in a good word for Drew and he tells her that the WSB won't do anything he asks them to. He also tells her that they won't help Drew because what they did in Greenland embarrassed the bureau and they would rather he be in prison.
Diane wonders if there is a connection between the judge and the WSB. Robert tells her she will never be able to prove it. She wants to go over the judge's past cases to try to figure out if the judge was getting kickbacks for getting inconvenient people out of the way for government agencies. Robert tells her that she could be spinning her wheels for months. She says she is going to try anyway. Robert tells her to make sure if she finds anything it's solid.
Brook Lynn is at home when she texts Chase that she needs him because everything is falling apart. Leo comes in and asks her if she needs a hug because she looks sad. He hugs her and asks what's wrong. She tells him that she had a really bad day and he hugs her again as Olivia watches them and smiles. Olivia sends Leo back to the kitchen to put a snack away so he doesn't ruin his dinner.
After he is gone, Olivia asks Brook Lynn if she and Chase got in a fight but Brook Lynn tells her that it's her friends, not Chase. She says she betrayed them in the worst way. Olivia asks what she means and Tracy appears and says she'll explain. Tracy says Brook Lynn asked her for a favor and she did it for her and then she asked her for one in return and didn't like the outcome. Brook Lynn says she blackmailed her and Olivia asks if that's true.
Tracy tells Olivia that she is trying to explain that it's just business. Brook Lynn tells her that she actually thought Tracy cared about the family but it's all an act. Tracy asks if she is done and Brook Lynn says no and tells her that she was wrong about her and walks out. Olivia rips into Tracy and asks how she could do that to Brook Lynn. She asks if she knows how much she looks up to her.
Leo runs in and says Brook Lynn left in her car and he is worried about her. Olivia promises they will check on her later. After he leaves the room, Olivia asks Tracy if she's happy now. Tracy says she taught Brook Lynn a valuable lesson, that nothing is free. Olivia says that if Ned was there he could get through to her. Tracy says he's not and they're stuck with Eddie Maine before walking out of the room.
Ava is at Wyndemere thinking about the night she killed Nik when Austin shows up and tells her that he's happy she wanted to see him. Ava tells him that all she wants from him is answers. Ava says she is grateful that Betty is gone and away from Avery. Austin tells her that she is in Mexico on vacation. Ava doesn't care as long as she never has to see her again. Austin isn't sure that's the case but Ava says Betty got the information Mason wanted so she can stay gone. She reminds him of their deal and asks where Nik's body is.
Austin tells her that Betty is gone and asks if that can be enough for her. Ava wants to see her get what's coming to her and Austin tells her they shouldn't make waves right now. She asks if she should just wait for Mason to want something else from her when he has to power to have her charged with murder. Austin asks her to trust him right now. She says that she kept her end of the deal and she wants Nik's body back.
He asks her what she's going to do with the body and she tells him she will bury it in the Pine Barrens like she originally planned. Austin offers to reach out to Mason and tells her that she can think of a better place to bury him. Ava doesn't want to bury him on the island and realizes she doesn't even want to live there anymore.
Austin is happy to hear her say that and Ava tells him that there is nothing but bad memories for her there. Mason knocks on the door and asks her why she invited him over. Ava tells him that she wants what he promised her. She demands that he give her the body but Mason says it's not up to him. He tells her that the boss says she won't get Nik back until everything is resolved. Mason tells her to relax because it's all going down tonight.
Ava kicks them both out and tells Mason that whenever whatever is happening tonight is over she wants Nik's body back. Mason promises to pass the message. Outside Austin tells Mason the boss said he's out and he has nothing to do with whatever is going on that night. Mason tells him he doesn't know about that because there is one more thing he has to do.
Alexis thanks Spencer for meeting her at the pool. He asks why she invited him and she tells him she just wanted to check up on him because his dad and grandmother aren't there. She says she is the closest thing he has to a parent. Lucy stands at the edge of the pool and Martin pulls her back a few inches, warning she was close to falling in. She says it doesn't matter if she falls in because she is about to lose her company and feels utterly betrayed.
Martin gets Lucy to sit down and orders them drinks before asking if he can do anything for her. She tells him that she is really upset. He apologizes for the hearing not going her way and says there must be a way to save what's left. Lucy tells him that is up to him. Alexis talks to Spencer about how shocked she is about Esme being so good at her job. She tells him that she loves to see Ace in the daycare because he always makes her smile and Spencer tells her he feels the same way.
He remembers when he was mad Nik had gotten Esme pregnant but now can't imagine life without him and is grateful that Ace is his little brother. Alexis tells him babies make things better. Spencer tells her that he can never forget what Esme did to him and his friends but she is a very good Mom. He is grateful he gets to live with his brother and thinks if he can live with Esme he can do anything especially if it means giving Ace a happy childhood. Alexis tells him that he reminds her of Nik.
Lucy questions Martin and wants to know why he can't be involved in her lawsuit. She asks him if he stole the idea for the Deceptor from Tracy. Martin tells her that he didn't do that and Lucy wants to know why he wouldn't take any credit for it when she tried to give it to him. He says it was a genius idea that was 100% hers. Lucy is upset about the trial being in 6 months and says Deception will be bankrupt before then.
Alexis talks to Spencer about how much Nik loved and indulged him and how he was sweet like his father was. Lucy tells Martin about Brook Lynn spying for Tracy and how betrayed she feels by it. Martin thinks it's low even for Tracy. Lucy tells him about the deal Tracy offered her. Alexis and Spencer talk about Trina and her family and everything going on with them. He also tells her how supportive Trina has been about him being there for Ace. They talk about Nik and Alexis asks if, deep down, he still loves him.
Martin agrees 75% is unfair but says Lucy should consider it to keep the company open. Lucy says absolutely not and tells him some of the history between her and Tracy. She vows to fight her and not let her win. Martin asks what she will do if it costs her Deception. Lucy says it's a good thing she kept her realtor license. Ava calls Lucy and interrupts her conversation with Martin. She tells her she wants to sell Spoon Island and asks if she is still in real estate.
Spencer tells Alexis he doesn't want to think about Nik because he just gets upset. Alexis tells him to think about the good times but he thinks it was all an illusion. Alexis tells him that Nik has demons but he does love him. She says she isn't asking him to forgive him but she is asking him to try and understand him. Spencer says he and Ace are doing fine with him. Alexis asks if he is saying he doesn't want his father back. Spencer says Nik is gone and won't be back.
Joss is working and Dex approaches her. She is happy to see him and tells him that she is excited about the concert. She tells him that she's almost ready to go and he apologizes. He tells her that he has to work. She is confused because he had told her Sonny gave him the night off but he tells her that things change with Sonny.
Joss is upset and they argue. Dex tells her that he will make it up to her and that things are just intense right now but she says things are always intense with Sonny. She wishes Carly hadn't destroyed the flash drive because it was their one chance to turn Sonny in and they blew it. She storms back into Kelly's and leaves Dex standing outside.
Joss calls Dex and asks him to come see her whenever he gets off. She tells him she loves him. Chase meets Brook Lynn outside of Kelly's and he asks her what happened. She tells him that Tracy happened and she can't live with her for another minute. Brook Lynn tells Chase what she did and vents about Tracy. Chase doesn't blame her for not forgiving Tracy and asks Brook Lynn to move in with him.
Austin walks into a cabin and asks someone how they're feeling. Nik tells him that he's feeling great and takes a drink of his beer with a big smile on his face.
