Spoilers for General Hospital on August 18, 2023: Sam is concerned. Sonny makes an offer. Finn receives shocking news. Anna is rocked. Tracy and “Eddie Maine” bicker.
General Hospital Episode Recap August 18, 2023: Sonny Offers Help Carly Can't Turn Down
Tracy is suffering from her hangover in the kitchen when Neddie comes in and teases her. They argue about Brook Lynn and his refusal to accept that he is Ned and he confronts her for wanting him committed. Tracy tries to explain that she is desperate to get her son back but Neddie doesn't care. His position remains that he can't be someone he isn't and he isn't Ned. When Tracy asks him why he is at the mansion and not Sonny's, he tells her that there are too many "goombahs" there. This gives Tracy hope that her son is still inside of him and makes her even more determined to get him back.
Kristina confronts Molly about not inviting her to the party and Molly finally confesses that she didn't invite her because she was telling everyone that she and TJ had found a surrogate. Kristina is confused and upset that Molly didn't want to tell her or let her be their surrogate and they argue. Molly is hurt when Kristina points out that she won't be related to the baby if she uses a surrogate she isn't related to and they argue more. Molly makes it clear that she feels Kristina would use the surrogacy to make everything about her and Kristina storms out angrily, calling her sister "selfish and insecure."
Gregory admits to Finn that there is something going on with him and answers all of his questions before finally revealing that he has been diagnosed with ALS. Finn is in denial for a little while, hoping that there could be something else going on but finally accepts what it is. He's upset with his father for not telling him but understands why he wanted to keep it a secret. Finn promises his Dad that nothing will ever change how he or Violet sees him and tells him that he will help him tell Chase.
Dante and Sam talk about their horrible days and what is going on with Molly and Kristina. Sam is worried that her sisters will never be able to heal their rift but then is concerned about bringing up a sensitive topic for Dante with what happened to him and Lulu when Maxie was supposed to be their surrogate. Dante tells her that he is fine with talking about it and tries to assure her that her sisters will come through it.
Dante gets a call with more information about Valentin and then he and Sam talk about that situation without him revealing the details. Neither of them trusts him and wonders why he is lying to Anna when she claims to care for her so much. They both agree that they need to be careful so their family stays safe.
Valentin and Anna get to her room in the MetroCourt and he tries to get her to not be so hard on herself after everything she's been going through. He tells her that he wants her to come to the ballet with him and Charlotte and then Martin shows up to drop off an envelope to him. Valentin and Martin talk privately and Anna tries to eavesdrop on them. Anna hears Martin ask Valentin why he wanted the information that night and not the next morning but when she asks him if everything is ok he tells her that Martin insisted on dropping it off that night.
When Valentin gets in the shower, Dante calls Anna and tells her that there was no water main break at ELQ and that Valentin didn't go there the night of the fire. She thanks him and then looks through the papers Martin gave Valentin, seeing things from Pikeman. When Valentin gets out of the shower, Anna is already in bed. She calls him out for lying to her but then plays it off as being about how long he was in the shower. When he kisses her she tells him that she is very tired so they each go to their sides of the bed to sleep.
Carly is worried when Sonny shows up at her house late at night. He tells her everyone is ok so she thinks he needs a favor. He tells her that he is there to do a favor for her. She immediately turns him down and they argue about it but she has to reconsider when he tells her that he can get Drew out of solitary so he can have visitors again. She questions if it will cost Drew anything or if he will owe anyone but Sonny promises that he won't.
Carly asks if there are any strings attached for her and Sonny tells her that there aren't. He says that he is doing it as a gift for her. Carly is skeptical but accepts his offer. She calls him out for needing to prove something to her after she turned down his help at the PCPD. He tells her that he was just being nice and they laugh about it and she thanks him before he leaves.
