Performer of the Week
Sloan, played by Jessica Serfaty, has had some pretty big emotions this week on Days of Our Lives, and none of them were good. Poor girl didn't even get the roller coaster; it was just all downhill! From the closest thing she has to a friend, Melinda (Tina Huang), trying to blackmail her into doing something that would risk her law license to not only miscarrying her baby but also finding out that there was a chance she would never be able to carry a pregnancy to term because of an autoimmune disorder she never knew she had, the girl went through it this week! And Jessica Serfaty played every line to perfection.
Serfaty seems to have an innate understanding of who her character is and never strays from it. Her instincts are spot on when it comes to everything Sloan says and does, including her myriad facial expressions. She goes from tough to soft seamlessly while never losing Sloan's edge. She also showcases Sloan's vulnerability and insecurity, even in scenes where she's acting hard.
This week she played anger, heartbreak, guilt, sorrow, and acceptance and she did them all well. And not for nothing but the fact that she had to do a lot of it with a temporary replacement (Jason Gerhardt) for her regular leading man (Greg Vaughan) when he was out sick, and still did it so well is a real testament to her acting.
We know Sloan tampered with the paternity test to hide that good guy Eric is the father of Nicole's (Arianne Zucker) baby; we know she will continue to lie and scheme to keep him, but we still feel for her. She broke our hearts this week with her grief over losing her child despite us hating her often for lying to Eric. To be able to elicit that kind of response from an audience that dislikes your character is why we are naming Jessica Serfaty our Performer of the Week! Congratulations Jessica!
Days of Our Lives
Sarah shocked Xander by revealing her pregnancy but convinced him the baby was Rex's. Chloe accepted Xander's proposal, and Sarah said yes to Rex. Elliot met Kristen, Rex reunited with his mother, and Chloe was surprised at her door. Sloan and Eric lost their baby, Tripp and EJ had a confrontation, Ava hallucinated, Harris asked Marlena for help, and Nicole confronted Melinda at the hospital. Gabi was determined to uncover Kristen's secret.
Cody convinced Sam to help him, Dante and Valentin had a tense encounter, Nina confronted Sonny, Gregory confided in Liz, Alexis met a potential surrogate for Molly and TJ, Kristina confided in Willow, Brook Lynn was furious about Tracy's actions, Maxie and Lucy delivered bad news, Dr. Montague demanded Gladys to pay up, Trina put Spencer on the spot, Carly visited Drew upon Sonny's offer, and Austin visited Cyrus.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Hope reconsidered moving on with Thomas. He told her she could return to her family if she wanted. However, Steffy had a discussion with Liam where he revealed that he could not forgive Hope for what she did with Thomas. Eric and Ridge had a misunderstanding, and Eric demanded respect from his son. RJ made it clear to Thomas that he was rooting for Liam and Hope. Hope attempted to reunite with Liam, but he turned her down by telling her that he could not forgive her. Finn and Steffy confessed their love for each other.
The Young and the Restless
What a week it was! Victor announced that he was folding S.N.A. media into Newman media. Victoria questioned Ashley, Adam offered Billy dirt on Tucker, and Nick unsuccessfully tried to reconcile Kyle and Summer. Esther received a job offer from Sharon, Chelsea and Connor decided to leave town, Sally questioned Adam about his job offer, Heather and Lily chatted, Elena moved on from Nate, and Tessa and Mariah worried about Aria's hearing.
It was another beautiful week of performances. Thumbs up to Annika Noelle, who continues to shine as Hope Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful, and to Roger Howarth, who delivered one of his best performances on the show since taking on the role of Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt.
