Performer of the Week
Sofia Mattson, who plays Sasha Corbin on General Hospital, has done some pretty heavy lifting acting-wise since she's been there. She's had to play drug addiction, relapse, her infant son dying soon after birth, her husband being brutally murdered by a serial killer, and a mental breakdown in her 5 years and had two children of her own in real life while doing it!
Her latest story is another mental breakdown but this one is brought on by her devious mother-in-law (Bonnie Burroughs) who is trying to hide her gambling debt with the help of an evil psychiatrist (Darin Toonder) who shares her gambling addiction. Poor Sasha is being drugged and gaslit and has found herself committed to Ferncliff after stabbing Cody (Josh Kelly) while hallucinating that he was actually Cyrus (Jeff Kober).
The entire story arc has been very well acted but this latest leg in Ferncliff has been nothing short or amazing. The performances that Mattson is turning in, episode after episode, are almost unbelievable. I would not want to have to be the one to trim it all down for an Emmy reel because there's just too much! Mattson plays crazy very well, and it is beautifully heartbreaking to watch.
When she cried in her bed that she didn't want to be there anymore and just wanted to go home, I cried right along with her, and the screams she let out when she thought her hallucinations of Cody had become real were bone-chilling in their authenticity. We are all hoping that Sasha is free of her nightmare soon, but in the meantime, we are getting one hell of a story to watch, thanks in large part to Sofia Mattson, and that is why she is our Performer of the Week. Congratulations Sofia, you are doing such wonderful work!
Days of Our Lives
What a week it was! A week of proposals? Yes, it was precisely so. Eric asked Sloan to marry him, EJ asked Nicole, Rex asked Sarah, and Xander asked Chloe. John talked some sense into Brady, who wanted to run with Rachel. Brady later handed over Rachel to Kristen. Chloe and Belle got into a little argument. Maggie went to Chicago to see Sarah and learned that she was pregnant with Xander's baby. Stephanie got Yuri to return to town and meet with Alex. She later confronted Chad about him telling Alex to back off. Justin got some news about Victor's plane and updated the crew.
General Hospital
Sonny and Nina talked Wedding plans. Eddie fought with Mason and Carly clanked him over the head. At the station, Sonny tried to do Carly a big favor, but she refused. Carly and Olivia healed the rift between them. Anna learned a lot about the Pikeman group and later found her house in flames. Sam suggested Maxie took Dante and Lulu's old house and later told Dante about it. Trina got her wish and got to see Curtis.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Finn faced off with Liam. He told him that he is no giving the fight for his wife. RJ, Eric, Brooke, Wyatt, Hope and Ridge all learend that Steffy moved out and the reason why. Hope was confident that Finn will not give up his marriage without a fight. Finn went straight to Steffy and begged her to forgive him. He professed his love for her and asked her to move back in. Ridge confronted Liam about his true intentions toward Steffy.
The Young and the Restless
Audra was blackmailed by Adam. She tried to do what he asked but realized that she's screwed. Nikki caught on to Nate and Audra working together. Ashley and Jack called a true for now. Phyllis celebrated her freedom with Lauren. Her children later confronted her and told her they were done with her and she's now on her own. Sharon told Adam that she will not allow him to mess things up for her.
Honorary Mentions
What a week it was in soapland! We had Trevor St. John kicking ass when Tucker McCall was filled with rage and demanded that Audra fix their problem. We had Michelle Stafford, who gave another outstanding performance as Phyllis Summers begged for mercy in court, and we had Tanner Novlan, who delivered a must-see killer performance as Finn confronted Liam and told him to back off. Congrats to all on getting the honorary mention this week.
