The Young and the Restless Recap for Wednesday, August 23, 2023:


Today on The Young and the Restless, Nick and Sally discuss their future as a couple, Mariah and Tessa are challenged as parents, Summer and Kyle reach a decision about their marriage.

Y&R Recap Today



Mariah and Tessa enjoy a day in the park. They talk about Mariah's transition to S.N.A. Media and how Tessa will miss her at Marchetti but is happy that she can focus on some work. They are startled by a loud thunderclap. The moms then notice that something is a little off with their baby because the noise didn't wake her up. They’re both surprised that Aria is still sleeping as if she didn’t hear such a loud noise, which piques their curiosity.






Sharon is excited to see Esther at Crimson Lights and shares that she has a new company to manage. She asks Esther if she would be interested in managing Crimson Lights. Esther mentions speaking with Devon and Lily before making any decisions but she's ready to accept the job offer. 






Sally and Nick are at Society. She is happy she successfully distracted him from Adam and Victor's mind games. Nick calls her a sexy lady, noting that she can distract him from almost anything. Sally suggests they continue this back in her suite. 


Y&R Recap Today




Kyle runs into Summer. After a brief discussion regarding Harrison, Summer informs him that she believes it is time for a divorce. Kyle is astonished; it may be what he wants, but he didn't expect her to say it first. Summer is adamant that it's time to formalize and finalize their things. Sally and Nick arrive. He realizes things are tight and instructs Sally to proceed to her suite, where he will meet her later. Nick approaches Kyle and requests to talk with him alone. Summer assures her dad everything is OK and that he does not need to get involved, but Nick refuses to back down, so Summer goes upstairs.





Nick and Kyle finally have a chance to catch up and discuss their current situation. Nick acknowledges that his daughter crossed a line by lying to Kyle, who trusted her deeply. Despite the breach of trust, Nick remains hopeful that Kyle and Summer can work through this rough patch and maintain their strong relationship. However, Kyle reveals that he is unable to forgive Summer and that she has already expressed her desire for a divorce.






In her suite, Summer breaks down. Kyle informs her that he doesn't think they have a second chance and agrees it's time for a divorce. Summer promises to contact a lawyer and move out her things soon. They vow to keep it amicable for their son's sake. As Kyle is leaving, Summer apologizes for everything. When she is alone, she flashes back through their marriage's collapse, pouts, and removes her wedding ring.




Y&R Recap Today




Adam phones Sally and tells her about the new company's location and encourages her to take the job offer despite her reservations. After some convincing, Sally agrees. "Fine, but I am not making any promises, so please do not get your hopes up," she tells Adam. Adam thinks that's fair and hangs up. Nick joins Sally in her suite and tells her about what happened with Kyle and wishes he could ease his daughter's pain. Sally notes how much of a good father he would have been to Ava. She apologizes for making it all about her, but Nick assures her he understands. They discuss the possibility of having a child together in the future and share a kiss.






Before the rain starts, the family arrives at the coffeehouse. Aria remains asleep while Mariah and Tessa worry about her unresponsiveness. Sharon notices their tension and asks what's wrong. Mariah shares her concern, but Sharon reassures them that everything is probably okay. Despite this, Mariah and Tessa can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. Tessa points out that Aria should be responding to her name at six months old, but she isn't. Sharon advises the girls to relax and not let their fears take over, reminding them that babies don't have set schedules. She suggests they get Aria's hearing tested if they're really concerned and arranges a pediatrician's appointment. She offers to watch the baby so they can have a date night, but they decline for now.






Kyle is alone in the dining room, drinking when Audra texts and invites him to meet up. He declines, citing exhaustion.
