Y&R Recap August 25, 2023: Adam Confronts Nate

The Young and the Restless Recap for Friday, August 25, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Victor and Nikki share a difference of opinion, Nick and Sharon struggle working with Adam, and Elena moves on from Nate.

Y&R Recap Today

Tessa and Mariah are at Chancellor Park with Aria, assuring each other that whatever happens, they will ensure their daughter has everything she needs. Elena approaches, and they tell her they just got upsetting news from Aria's pediatrician. They tell her about their worries about Aria's hearing and that Sharon suggested that they have her hearing tested to put their minds at ease.

Mariah and Tessa share with Elena that the pediatrician thinks Aria could have severe hearing loss. Elena asks more questions and tells them the specialist will have more answers. She assures them that many treatments are available and tells them to take everything one step at a time.

Mariah changes the subject and asks how Elena is doing. She tells them she is working a lot at the hospital and on a new research project. They worry that she's using work to not have to deal with what happened with Nate. Elena says that work is the one thing that hasn't disappointed her yet, and they remind her that she has them.

Elena thanks them for being her friends. She admits she was a mess after the break-up but really enjoys the work that she's doing. They're worried about her burning herself out without realizing it, but she promises she is keeping on top of it. She tells them that Nate is out of her system and she is doing better. They are both happy for her and tell her they are always there. She asks them to keep her updated about Aria and then leaves to get some sleep. Mariah tells Tessa it's time to tell Sharon about Aria's condition.

Y&R Recap Today

Esther and Sharon talk about Aria, and Esther is excited about her new job as the manager of Crimson Lights, but Chloe worries that it will be too much since she is still working for Chancellor-Winters. Esther thinks the job is perfect for her and Sharon tells her she can make her own schedule. Nick comes in and asks to talk to Sharon privately.

They go into the other room, and Sharon asks if Victor's done something. Nick says not yet, and she says Adam was right. He asks how she is feeling about things, and she says that she held onto the company because she wanted to do something positive with it, but she doesn't think that can happen with Victor's plans. 

Nick says they can fight him, but Sharon doesn't think that will be possible. Nick worries that they will end up answering to Adam. Sharon tells him not to get ahead of himself, but Nick worries that this is more of the same push and pull with Victor and Adam and that he and Sharon will get caught up in it.

Sharon wants to see the details of Victor's plan, but Nick thinks Adam is already planning on running everything by himself. Sharon says it won't be Adam's decision but Nick worries that nothing will stop him from getting what he wants. Sharon hopes that he's wrong. 

Sharon leaves Esther in charge before leaving with Nick. Esther assures Chloe that she can handle it. Chloe tells her that she is happy for her before they hug. Esther tells her that she's sweet to worry about her and that she loves her so much.

Later, Tessa and Mariah come to Crimson Lights to see Sharon, and Esther tells them she's not there. Tessa asks Esther if she is already working there and Esther loudly proclaims that she is officially the manager of Crimson Lights. Aria starts to cry, and Esther apologizes for her big mouth scaring the baby but Tessa and Mariah are happy that Aria's hearing seems to be ok.

Nikki is shocked when Victor tells her he is going ahead with the merger. She asks why he's doing it and tells her he thinks it's the right time. She asks how Nicholas took it, and he tells her that he doesn't know but that Adam thinks he has ulterior motives. Nikki says he's right to wonder what Victor's up to.

Nikki wants to know why Victor changed his mind, and he said it was always his plan to create a powerful media company. She asks how Nate plays into everything, and Victor says Nate's analysis impressed him. Nikki asks who will run the company, but Victor tells her he has yet to decide. She asks him to be careful not to push his son too hard. She also worries about Nate's ambitions and wonders what Victoria thinks about the merger. 

Victor is waiting for her return call but isn't going to hold off. He tells Nikki that the merger will take place, and when Victoria gets back, everything will be different at Newman Media.

Y&R Recap Today

Adam approaches Nate at Society and demands to know why he met with Victor. Nate tells him it was business, and when Adam wants specifics, he tells him to ask his father. Adam says he is asking him and demands to know what Nate is up to. Nate says his private conversations are private, and Adam tells him about Victor changing his mind about the merger. 

Nate reminds him that it's what he wants and congratulates him on the win. Adam wants to know where Nate fits into it and tells him that Nick said he can't be trusted. Nate thinks it's funny that the brothers can agree on him but not on a business plan. Adam wants to know if that is what Nate is doing, offering a business plan to Victor. Nate tells him that Victor approached him, and gave him his opinion. 

Adam wants to know what Nate told him, and Nate replies that he told Victor what he has always believed, that the merger is a good idea. Adam is happy that he was right, but Nate points out that he played dirty. He thinks Victor should have fired Adam, but instead, he is giving him the prize, the merged companies. He asks Adam why he can't just take the win without making another enemy.

Nate and Adam exchange insults and ask if Adam really thinks he could influence Victor. Adam is sure that something is going on. Nate reminds him again that the merger is what he wanted and wants to know if Adam is so arrogant that he will only be happy if everything happens on his terms. 

Adam gets a text from Nick saying that it's important that they meet at his place. Adam tells Nate he knows that there is something going on and he will find out what it is before leaving. Nate calls someone, tells them that the merger is happening, and asks if they knew about it before asking them to call him back.

Y&R Recap Today

Adam is waiting for Nick to arrive at his apartment when there is a knock at the door. He is surprised to see that it's Sally. He lets her in, and she tells him that she's been thinking about his job offer. He asks if she's there to accept it, but she says she has to talk to Nick first. She tells him that she also has some questions for him. 

Sally and Adam discuss his suspicions about Victor's motives, but Sally thinks he should be happy that he is getting what he wanted. Adam says that he is cautiously optimistic but very happy she wants to be part of things. Adam is mainly worried about Nate's involvement. He tells Sally that he intends to end up with control of the company they built together and wants her by his side. 

Sally thought he was going to share power with Nick and Sharon, but Adam says that would never work and Victor knows it. Sally asks if Victor told him that, and Adam tells her that Victor's not calling it a merger. Adam feels that there can only be one vision, one leader, and it should be him since he built the company and never should have been taken away from him. 

Nick and Sharon arrive before Sally can say anything else, and Nick is surprised to see Sally there. She tells him about Adam's job offer and says she was trying to get specifics before she talked to him about it. Nick says that Adam should have discussed it with him and Sharon first and reminds Adam that he is not in charge. Sally heads for the door, saying they all have things to discuss.

Nick walks her out, and she asks if he is mad that she didn't say anything. He doesn't like it but understands why she said nothing. He warns her that Adam will say anything he thinks she wants to hear to get what he wants, and Sally tells him that she's not naive. Nick agrees with her, and they agree to meet up later before kissing goodbye. Adam watches uncomfortably from across the room.

After she leaves, Adam asks Sharon and Nick if they are there to figure out how this will work. Sharon and Nick agree that it's not working. Adam agrees with them and says that he should be in charge since Newman Media is the major player. Nick and Sharon disagree, and they all argue about it. Nick accuses Adam of planning all along to take sole control of Newman Media.

Sharon tells Adam that he never gave their co-Ceo plan a chance, and it could still work if they all try. Nick agrees with her and asks Adam to work with them as partners. He tells him that he has to let go of the past and get his ambition in check, or he will destroy everything they've accomplished.

Y&R Recap Today

Nate and Audra meet at the GAC, and Audra asks him to give her some good news. He tells her that the merger is happening, which isn't the good news she hoped for. Nate says that Newman Media will be a much bigger company, but Audra says she won't be running it. She can't believe that Victor is giving Adam what he wants after he tried to blackmail her, but Nate tells her that it's a mistake to assume to know what Victor is thinking or what the endgame will be.

Audra wants to know if Nate has more information, and he tells her that he doesn't. She wants to know if she's going to be demoted or just fired, and he promises her that he won't let that happen. She is skeptical because Nick and Adam are Victor's sons. Nate says that Adam's actions are not confidence inspiring but Audra thinks Victor wants his whole family working at the business together. 

Nate tells her that they have no idea what Victor is planning. Audra doesn't think there's any chance she can stay CEO, but Nate tells her to keep showing Victor she deserves the job. Audra says that she is not going to just sit back and wait. She points out that Adam fights for what he wants. Nate asks her what she is planning, and she tells him that she is going to fight for her job before leaving the GAC.

Audra goes to the Newman Ranch and tells Nikki and Victor that she heard a rumor that the merger was happening. Nikki asks how she heard about it and she tells them about Adam confronting Nate about it and says that Nate told her as a courtesy. Audra tells them that she wants to know if she's going to be out of a job. 

Victor assures her that she will still have a job at Newman Media regardless of his decision. She thanks them before she leaves, and Nikki comments that she is as driven as Nate is. Victor likes that about her, but Nikki worries it could become a problem. Victor wonders if Audra is who he should be mentoring, but Nikki says he will never be able to trust her or Nate.

Audra returns to the GAC and joins Nate, who drinks at the bar. She tells him about her meeting with Victor, and Nate says he's even more impressed with her. Nate compliments her attributes, and Audra happily accepts his praise. Neither of them is aware that Elena is watching from the entryway.

Sally runs into Chloe at Society, and Chloe asks if they are celebrating her new job. Sally tells her it's not a specific job, but Chloe is confident it will happen. She admits feeling bad because she had taken the job with Chelsea while she was away with Connor, but Sally tells her that she is happy for her and has nothing to feel guilty about. Chloe asks about Nick's reaction, and Sally tells her that the whole thing may be more complicated than she's ready for.
