Y&R Recap Today

Chloe is taken aback when she learns of Victor's proposition through Sally. She is perplexed as to why Sally is willing to accept this offer while dismissing her recommendation that Nick backs them with no strings attached. Sally adds that allowing money into her relationship with Nick might wreck things, but this thing with Victor is clean. Chloe opposes, pointing out that Victor does not do clean and that they would be working for Victoria, who wants to see Sally burn. Besides, they already have a job with Chancellor Winters, so why throw that all away? At least Lily and Devon are two people they like and can trust, but this Newman Enterprises plan is a recipe for disaster.

The terms of Victor's offer are quite appealing. Chloe calls out Sally, stating she wants to impress Victor so she can prove to his family that they have been wrong about her all along. Sally acknowledges this, but claims it is not the main reason. Chloe interprets this as Victor wanting to control Sally, and if they take the offer, he would control her as well, which she does not want. Chloe tells Sally that she can count her out.

At the office, Nate applauds Nikki for her brilliant work. Nate is gushing, but Nikki stops him, telling him that it doesn't flatter her but rather makes her suspicious. Nate apologizes. So far, he hasn't given them any reasons to doubt him, but Nikki says she trusts Nick's instincts because they are telling him that Nate has a hidden agenda. And if that turns out to be true, Nate should consider himself forewarned because it will never come to fruition. She says Newman Enterprises has survived much more dangerous threats than any self-serving game plan that he can come up with. Nikki has a quick meeting outside of the office and tells Nate to meet her at the Athletic Club, where he can tell her how he sees his future at Newman.

Phyllis gets a visit from Adam. He is late because he has been busy. She wants to beat the charges for herself and her kids. Of course, also for Adam, Nick, and Sharon, so that she can help with the company. The thought of that scumbag Tucker McCall getting in the way of that is out of the question for Adam. So, if he can help her and her lawyer get some leverage to keep her out of prison, he's in. She promises to make it worth his while. He shares that he has already found something buried in the paperwork of Tucker's old company. If she puts it to good use, Tucker's control over her will be seriously compromised. It seems the PR department of his recording labels sat on some information that a major artist slept with several underage girls while he was on tour. Tucker was out of commission at the time, but it went on at his company, and he may still be held accountable. He found out about it after the fact and had his team work very hard to bury the whole thing. Adam did some digging and found the information in two emails Audra sent to Tucker.

Phyllis is stunned that Tucker and Audra covered up statutory rape. This is the kind of leverage that she needs. It means so much to her that Adam found this. He says he has a new company to run and he wants to work with the best of the best which is her and that cannot happen with her behind bars.

Nikki and Nate meet for a meal. She wants an honest answer from him. She asks him directly what does he want at Newman. He says if he can have anything it would be to run Newman side by side with Victoria and if that makes him ruthless and ambitious then he is guilty as charged. The short time he has been at the company, he has grown to admire and love everything that it represents. He hates that Nick doesn't trust him but he thinks he can be a huge success at Newman. Nikki asks him if he's in love with her daughter. He says no. He is enthralled, impressed and attracted to her but he doesn't think they are anywhere near a relationship level that's ready for love. Honestly, he doesn't have any idea if that's in the cards for them. While they haven't categorized their relationship yet, down the line he can definitely see himself falling in love with her if they keep seeing each other romantically and he has a strong sense she feels the same way.

Elena listens at a nearby table as Nikki expresses gratitude to Nate for his candor. She returns the favor by describing him as a man with intelligence, a huge ego, and a lot of ambition but a fairly bad track record when it comes to relationships. She can, however, give him credit for seeing Victoria for who she is. He has put himself in a position where he will be continuously scrutinized. Victoria's parents are exceedingly protective, and Nikki threatens him that if he causes more pain and anguish for her daughter than happiness, he will be gone in minutes. Elena smiles at her table.
Nikki receives a phone call and excuses herself. Nate walks over to Elena. He says it's good to see her. He asks how she's doing and how things are going at the hospital. She tells him to stop with the good guy act. Stop attempting to be courteous with her; she will not reciprocate. He expresses regret. He wishes they could coexist harmoniously. She claims to have heard that he truly wants to fall in love with Victoria, but she hopes Nikki didn't fall for it. Maybe she should talk to her about what his definition of love is. She tells him that the games he continues to play will backfire and burn him to the ground. Who knows? Maybe she'll be the one who lights the fire. She tells him to stay away from her. As she is leaving, Nikki returns. She asks if this is what her daughter has to look forward to—being a pile of rubble in his wake.

Back at the office, Nikki and Nate talk about lunch. He’s glad they did it and that she forced his hand. What he’s building with Victoria is deeper than what he had with Elena. Nikki says her daughter deserves happiness and if they can all count on him to be there, Nikki’s his new BFF. She warns him that if Victoria’s his next Amanda or Elena, she will be his worst nightmare.

Adam runs into Sally in the park. He asks how she's doing. She says it's not great because Chloe refuses to consider Victor's offer and walked out on her. He thinks Chloe is a true judge of character and agrees with Chloe that Victor always has an ulterior motive. It's what he does; it's who he is. Adam admires how great it is to see Sally getting her fire back. Nick is not in town, and Sally appreciates the space to heal a little bit every day. Sally asks him if he's finding a way to heal as well. He is, though it’s hard for him to talk about it. She admits it’s hard for her as well, and they have to keep finding ways to cope.

Phyllis crosses paths with Christine, who says it's nice to see her enjoying her short-lived freedom. She assumes that Heather told her that the trial date had been set. Phyllis warns her not to get too gleeful because she will beat the charges and be a free woman again. Christine tells her to wait until the jury decides. Christine calls out Phyllis for putting Summer in a tough position. Phyllis warns her to leave her daughter out of this. Summer made some bad judgment calls, but it was all to protect her. Christine offers to make a deal. She demands that Phyllis waive her appeals and drop the not-guilty plea, and she might be persuaded not to pursue charges against Summer.

Tucker appears and asks Phyllis what's going on. She brushes him aside. As she mulls over Christine's words, he orders a drink for them. Tucker admires Phyllis's ability to remain calm under pressure. What made her want to meet? She believes Carson will emerge from the shadows shortly, but Tucker is insistent that the EMT will not until he says so. Unless she has a counterproposal, She does, and she and Heather agree to take him into their custody in exchange for Phyllis not speaking out about the record label that decided to cover up the statutory rape of multiple minor females. He pretends to be dumb, but it's clear he wants to test how much she understands. She informs him about the emails. She says, clinking her glass with his problem. Tucker is dissatisfied.
