The Young and the Restless Recap for Friday, August 4, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Ashley reveals a new game plan, Adam agrees to play nice, and Daniel stands his ground with Phyllis.

Lily arrives at the Chancellor mansion and is surprised that Devon didn't hear her knocking. He was deep in thought about the potential for product development in Asia and South America and suggests expanding their offices there. Lily thinks it might be because of his new home, but then he shares that Tucker and Ashley are planning to have their wedding there. She warns him to put away the breakables with all the Abbotts coming. Devon also reveals that Tucker asked him to be his best man, and Lily is stunned to hear they are getting along. However, Devon is concerned about the fallout if things escalate and Abby gets caught in the middle. Devon asks how things are with her and Daniel. They are good. He is happy to hear that she is moving on from Billy.

Ashley meets with Abby, who seems stressed out. Ashley apologizes for how the feud escalated and said it was time for peace. Abby wonders if she could let go and accept Diane as part of Jack's life and Jabot. Ashley explains she is focusing on her future and starting a company with Tucker. Abby hopes Ashley is being sincere, and Ashley admits she wants to fix things with Jack, but it is complicated. Ashley is certain she will never like Diane but promises Abby she is done with all these pointless battles. She is committed to mending things with their family. Ashley asks Abby to reach out to Jack. She doesn't want him to hug Tucker or give any speeches but wants him to come to the wedding; after all, he is her brother. Abby promises to try. 

Abby meets Devon at home. She informs him about how her talk with her mother went. She wants this wedding to go off without a hitch. She promises to do whatever it takes to ensure this wedding doesn't go down in flames. 

Phyllis informs Tucker of the disturbing news, but he remains unfazed. She has evidence of a scandal and needs him to locate Carson immediately. Tucker points out that he had resold the companies at the time of the scandal and that Newman Enterprises would be the one to take the hit if she should do anything with the evidence she has. Phyllis argues that he was the ship's captain then, and certain emails exposed his involvement. Tucker tells her to do what she must, but Phyllis warns him not to underestimate her. When Tucker asks about her conversation with the DA, Phyllis doesn't respond, and he thinks he is not the one in danger.

Phyllis tells him that her trial date has been set, which means it's crunch time for her and crunch time for him. She wonders what Ashley would think of all this. She has the emails, so he is liable. Phyllis calls it a game-changer. He says this leverage that she believes she has means nothing to him. He calls off their deal. Phyllis tells him not to force her hand. He walks out, advising Phyllis that she cannot touch him. Daniel strolls in. He saw her talking to Tucker and wonders why she would give that snake the time of day. Phyllis notes that they have bigger problems; Christine is after Summer, accusing her of aiding and abetting. Daniel blames his mother. She tells him about the offer that Christine made. Daniel advises her to take the deal. Phyllis disagrees. She is certain she can protect Summer and walk free at the same time. Daniel calls out his mother, saying that she hasn't changed. He tells her to take the damn deal, pay the consequences, and then make amends as he leaves. 

Daniel meets Lily in the park. He is mad at his mother and shares with Lily how she refuses to take the deal Christine offered her and Summer's life is hanging by a thread. Lily is confident he will do everything he can to protect his sister. He will not let his mother's actions dictate his sister's future. Lily believes he is amazing brother and commends him for taking care of his sister. 

Sharon visits Adam to discuss office space for Adustus. Victor offered space at Newman Tower, but Sharon thought it was important for them to have their own dedicated space. She found a few places on the other side of town with a different atmosphere than Newman. Adam agrees and then opens up about his feelings for Sally. He believes they belonged together and that Nick was only a safer choice for her, not her true love. He points out that the whole town can see Nick still in love with Sharon. He thinks if she opened her eyes and saw that, everything would fall into place. Sharon wonders how they can work together if he sees her and Nick that way. Sharon tells him to get rid of these delusions. Nick and her share a special bond because of their history and their children, but it doesn't mean there's some romantic future in store for them. Sharon advises Adam to stop; she will not be a pawn in his game trying to come between Nick and Sally. Soon after, Tucker arrives and Sharon leaves. He asks Adam about the company's restructuring progress. Adam realizes that Tucker talked to Phyllis and has a proposal for him. Adam wants Tucker to keep Phyllis out of prison, and in return, he won't hear about the singer he worries about. Adam tells Tucker to release the witness, Carson, to Phyllis.

At Society, Sharon approaches Phyllis and mentions they might work together depending on the outcome of her trial. Phyllis thinks Sharon is optimistic, but Sharon suspects Phyllis has something up her sleeve to get out of this one. 

Later, Tucker and Ashley are at the Abbott mansion. Ashley tells Tucker about smoothing things over with Abby without lying too much. Tucker informs her that Phyllis has become a liability more than an asset, but he refuses to disclose further details, saying he can handle it.
