Y&R Recap Today
Upon returning to his suite, Daniel is surprised to find Lucy waiting for him. She's back in town and thought it would be a great time to visit, given that her mother is working on Phyllis's case and she has finished camp. Heather partly urged the visit, worrying about Daniel and everything happening with Phyllis. Despite his assurance that he's fine, Daniel suggests they grab a coffee. Lucy agrees, eager for them to have fun on this trip. However, Daniel is concerned about Summer, who has already lost so much and doesn't want her to lose anything else.
As they get their coffee and head to the park, they run into Mariah, who is with her sleeping baby Aria. Mariah is happy to finally meet Lucy and compliments Daniel on having such a wonderful daughter checking up on him. However, Daniel just wants to focus on Omega Sphere and being a better father and man. He can't expend energy on watching those he cares about ruin themselves. Mariah accuses him of being judgmental and talks about how everyone changes at their own pace. She hopes everything works out with Phyllis and knows how special moms are. Lucy asks Daniel to take her to see Phyllis, but he thinks they should hold off for now.
Y&R Recap Today
Summer bumps into Chance and they have a chat. Summer seems anxious, but Chance reassures her she can trust and talk to him about anything. However, when Summer mentions that he was the cop who arrested her mother, Chance is taken aback. He thought they were friends. Summer says that everything has changed, but she can't explain it. She does tell Chance about her fight with her mother and her desire to try a rollercoaster. Chance can't go with her but promises to join her another time.
At Crimson Lights, Heather advises Phyllis to wait until they can talk privately, but Phyllis talks to Christine. Phyllis agrees to plead guilty on the condition that Christine won't pursue charges against her children. She also wants to make a statement to the judge before sentencing. Christine agrees and arranges a meeting with the judge. Phyllis is confident that she can convince the judge of her innocence, but Heather reminds her that Christine could use her influence to give her the maximum penalty.
Y&R Recap Today
Later, Phyllis, Heather, and Christine are summoned to a judge's chambers. Phyllis describes the dread she felt beneath Jeremy Stark's hands when he attacked her, which Carson watched but did not attempt to help. Christine openly shows her mistrust of Phyllis' narrative when she adds that she had no choice but to defend herself, which ended in Jeremy's murder. Phyllis begs the judge not to lock her up so she can do community service and fix the damage she has done to her loved ones.
The judge adjourns the meeting, but Phyllis does not have to wait long. She and Heather head to Society to wait and discuss. Heather later receives a message informing her that the verdict has been reached.
Christine and Chance cross paths. She gives him an update on the matter. She also informs him that she received a message from Paul indicating that he wishes to speak with her. Once Phyllis is sentenced, she must speak with Paul about their future. Chance inquires as to how she wishes for all of this to end. She wants Phyllis to pay for her crimes once and for all, not out of vengeance but because it's the right thing to do; it's what she stands for as a DA. At the same time, she wants what is best for Phyllis' children so they can move forward. Christine receives a text message informing her that the judge has reached a verdict.
In the judge's chambers, Judge Linda notes listening carefully to Phyllis' testimony about how she was coerced by a dangerous criminal to commit a series of crimes. She went to great lengths to commit fraud to make it appear like she had died. She framed an innocent party, made her children accomplices to her crime, and ultimately killed a man. So it's reasonable to believe that Phyllis feared for her life. Furthermore, there are no witnesses to contradict her story. There's only Carson, who confirmed her story that she acted in self-defense. The judge reveals the sentence; Phyllis will do six months of community service and a year of probation. Judge Linda advises that if Phyllis does anything except be a model citizen for that year, she will have to return to the judge's chambers and will not be as forgiving as in today's hearing. As Phyllis is free to go, she thanks the judge. The judge leaves, and Christine walks over to Phyllis and tells her this is a gift, so she better not squander it. Phyllis promises not to.
