Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for Thursday, September 21, 2023: Chad Quits!
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on Thursday, September 21, 2023: Vivian and Maggie butt heads. Chad is shocked to have a new boss. Kayla presses Stephanie about her relationship with Chad. Brady and Alex become suspicious of Theresa.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap Thursday, September 21, 2023: Chad Quits!
Theresa is going through the contents of the briefcase when she hears someone at the door. She quickly closes it up and hides it before Alex and Brady come in. They blast her for the very expensive room service she ordered but she shrugs it off and asks them if they found anything out about Victor's will. They tell her about their meeting with Konstantin, their search for the letters, and how they came up empty.
She grabs the briefcase she hid and suggests that maybe the letters are in there. Brady wants to know where she got Victor’s briefcase and she tells them about Shane dropping it off. Brady thinks they should open it to look for the letters but Theresa says that Shane wanted it delivered safely to Maggie and that Maggie should be the one to open it. Brady reluctantly agrees and wants to go home immediately, but Alex reminds him how late it is and tells him that there won’t be any flights until the morning.
They agree to get some sleep and leave early and Theresa starts to follow Brady to his room but he stops her and tells her that there’s no way in hell. She tells him that she just wants to sleep and they argue. Brady tells her, again, that they are not getting back together and that she looks desperate and pathetic. Alex tells him to lighten up but Brady tells him to stay out of it before heading to his own room.
Theresa is upset and crying and Alex comforts her. He tells her that Brady didn't mean what he said but Theresa thinks that he meant every word. Alex tells her that she is beautiful and not pathetic and makes her smile. They start kissing and are soon tearing each other's clothes off. In the hallway, Brady calls John and updates him about the briefcase and tells him that they are coming home in the morning.

Chad calls Stephanie to apologize for being late getting home from work and she reminds him that they’re supposed to be having dinner with her parents. They joke about if she sounds like a nagging housewife and Chad promises to be home soon before hanging up because there’s someone at the office door. He’s surprised to see Vivian when he answers it and she explains to him that her and Victor's divorce was never final so she is his widow and his sole heir.
He scoffs at her claims, but she tells him that she is his new boss, and the only question is if he’s going to end up fired like Maggie or as her number two. Chad calls Maggie, who confirms Vivian's story. She tells him that she doesn’t expect him to quit his job out of loyalty to her and suggests that if he stays, he might be able to find out what Vivian is up to. Chad tells her that he will do that before hanging up and going back to talk to Vivian.
He asks her what her vision for the company is and she tells him that she wants to take Titan back to its roots. Vivian tells him that she plans on having Titan start to sell illegal street drugs again and asks if he is on board or if she needs to fire him. Chad tells her that she doesn’t need to fire him because he quits.

John and Steve are having a beer at the pub and Steve teases John about his classic John Black silence. John tells him that what he has to say is very important, he’s just trying to put it into words Steve apologizes and John tells him about how he figured out that the mystery man was actually his father.
John is overjoyed about finding his real father and how wonderful he is. Steve is very happy for him and tells him that he can’t wait to meet him. They share a toast to John’s father and then John asks Steve how Tripp is doing with Ava being on the run. Steve updates him and John asks if Steve is going to go look for Ava. Steve tells him that he's not because Rafe asked him not to.
They talk about Brady and Alex being in Greece and Steve asks why he didn’t go but John says they have it covered. They talk about Vivian showing up and Victor destroying his will. Vivian comes in just in time to hear them talking about how crazy and dangerous she is. Steve leaves to go have dinner with his family and John and Vivian share a hug. She asks if he's surprised to see her and he admits that he already knew she was in town.
They talk about what happened with Victor's will and Vivian tells him that she wants him to come work for her at Titan. John tells her that he is happy with his present job and doesn't want to work at a company. Vivian asks if there is anything she can do to change his mind and John tells her that she can give Maggie her house back. Vivian tells him that she can't because it would give Maggie a claim to more of Victor's estate. She wonders who else she can get to come work for her if John won't.

Julie finds Maggie having a cup of tea to calm her nerves after everything that happened with Vivian. Maggie thanks her and Doug for letting her stay with them, and Julie reminds her that they're family. Julie shows her a registered letter that came for her from Vivian and offers to open it for her or destroy it. Maggie tells her that she needs to know what Vivian's up to and opens the letter.
It turns out to be Vivian's notice terminating her as CEO of Titan. Julie wants to call Justin to see if there’s something he can do, but Maggie tells her that there isn’t since Victor died without a will. She says that Vivian is Victor's sole heir and the majority stockholder of Titan. Julie still wants her to fight but Maggie thinks she should start looking for her own place to live. Julie insists that Maggie stays with them a while longer so she's not alone through this. They talk about Brady and Alex's trip to Greece and then Vivian shows up to drop off some of Maggie's things. Julie takes great joy in physically throwing her out of her house.
