Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for Tuesday, September 5, 2023: Eric Rescues Theresa
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on Tuesday, September 5, 2023: EJ tries to rub out Ava. Sloan grapples with her guilt and considers coming clean. Chloe and Nicole have a tense exchange. Sarah struggles with her feelings for Xander.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap Tuesday, September 5, 2023: Eric Rescues Theresa
At the hospital, Eric tells Sloan that her discharge papers are ready. She says that there's something she has to tell him about the baby but when he asks what it is she says that she's sorry that she lost their baby. Eric tells her that it wasn't her fault and that they still have each other and good things to look forward to. He offers to make her dinner at the Pub but she tells him that she will meet him there later. Sloan says she needs to take a walk and clear her head and that she needs some time alone. After he leaves the room she tearfully says that it's her fault that he won't be a father to either of his kids and remembers changing the results of Nicole's test.
EJ is on the phone asking someone to meet him in the park to discuss killing Ava. A woman arrives and asks if she is in Bayview. EJ tells her that she is and asks if it's a problem. The woman assures him that it isn't and EJ asks how she is going to get in. She asks if he really wants the details and he tells her that he doesn't. All he cares about is Ava ending up dead like his mother.
The woman is surprised that he is hiring her for this because she didn't think he did these sorts of things anymore. EJ tells her that he doesn't but Ava is a different thing. She promises to get the job done and he gives her an envelope of money. EJ tells her that after she kills Ava he wants her to kill Xander too.
After the woman leaves Sloan walks by and sees EJ talking to a picture of Susan. They talk about wanting vengeance for their parents and she warns him that it can send someone down a dark path. EJ gives her condolences about the baby and she thinks he enjoying Eric's suffering. EJ tells her that he's not but maybe being a parent isn't in the cards for Eric. Sloan disagrees. EJ tells her that he hopes that she is right and that his heart goes out to the both of them before leaving.
Xander and Theresa trade barbs outside of the Pub after he sees her crying on the bench. She tries to say it is about Victor but he doesn't believe her and she admits she was crying over Brady. Xander mocks her for Brady telling her to go to hell and she fires back that Sarah did the same to him. They argue more and Xander tells her that he's marrying Chloe.
Theresa tells him that she hopes Chloe comes to her senses. She thinks he will go back to how he was before and tells him that she hopes Chloe stabs him too. Xander grabs her arm and threatens her but Eric pushes him away from her before it goes any further. Xander and Theresa trade more insults and then he leaves.
Eric asks if she is ok and she tells him that she's fine. Eric is happy to see her and they talk about Victor. They hug and she gives him her condolences about the baby. She asks if they can try again and Eric tells her about Sloan's medical condition. He is wondering if his being a father is in God's plan and she assures him that it is. She promised her support and says any kid would be lucky to have him for a Dad.
Rex asks Sarah how she's feeling and she tells him that she is fine and hasn't had any more Braxton-Hicks contractions. He is happy to hear it and tells her that he thinks they should get married before the baby is born. She wants to be sure that he is really sure he wants to marry her when it's just to keep Xander away from the baby. He tells her that he is committed to her and committed to making her fall back in love with him.
Rex is surprised when Sarah tells him that she hopes he can do that because she hesitated when he said they should get married before the baby is born. She tells him that she just doesn't want to do it before Victor's funeral because it doesn't feel right. She wants to be there for Maggie. Sarah says that she's sad that none of Victor's kids can be there just as Philip walks in and surprises them both.
Philip tells them that Brady isn't pressing charges so he is in the clear. Sarah is surprised that he's in the clear and Rex congratulates them. Sarah gives him her condolences about Victor and Rex offers him support. Philip asks her who the father of the baby is and they tell him that it's Rex and that they are getting remarried. He congratulates them and Sarah welcomes him home before going upstairs to rest.
Philip brings up Chloe and Xander's engagement and says that he can't believe she is marrying that loser. Rex asks him to please tell him that he's not still obsessed with Chloe. Philip tells him that he is not obsessed but he still loves her. Rex is worried about him jeopardizing his recovery but Philip tells him he has nothing to worry about.
Chloe tells Nicole about Philip being alive and everything he did. Nicole wonders if Brady is going to go after him and Chloe tells her that Belle convinced him not to. She tells Nicole about Philip's time in the psych hospital and that they released him. Nicole says that it's good news that he's well so now Chloe doesn't have to marry Xander.
Chloe isn't happy and asks Nicole what one has to do with the other. Nicole reminds her that she was with Philip before he died and now that he's back they can resume where they left off. Chloe tells her that he faked his death and framed Brady for murder. Nicole argues that he was sick and asks if there is a chance for them to try again.
Chloe tells her that she has moved on with Xander and she's not going back to Philip. Nicole asks if they ever really move on from their first love. Chloe asks if they are talking about her and Xander or Philip or if are they talking about Nicole, Eric, and EJ. Nicole tells her that it's different but after she can't explain she admits it is sort of the same. Chlo admits that her heart skipped a beat when she saw Philip but she thinks was just the shock of seeing him alive. Chloe makes it clear that she is with Xander and staying that way. Nicole backs off and Chloe suggests a pact where they accept who the other is with. Nicole agrees and they hug.
Philip runs into Chloe in the Square but they are quickly interrupted by Xander arriving to take her to dinner. As they walk away, Chloe looks back at Philip. Theresa talks to a picture of Brady and says she isn't giving up. Sloan meets Eric at the Pub and asks if he wants to adopt a baby with her. Sarah comes back down and asks Rex if he told Philip the truth about the baby and he tells her that he didn't and tells her that he is still in love with Chloe.
Harris is shocked when Ava tells him that Susan Banks is alive. He asks if she is sure and she tells him that she saw it clear as day when Marlena had her under hypnosis. She saw Susan standing outside of the car before it exploded. She walks him through everything she remembered and he asks why she didn't tell Marlena. Ava is afraid that they won't believe her and will think she is just trying to get out of trouble.
Harris asks where she is but Ava doesn't know. He thinks they should tell Marlena but Ava doesn't agree. He suggests telling EJ but she shoots that down too. The woman EJ hired comes in dressed in medical clothing with a syringe and tells Ava that it's time for her medication. Ava says that she has never gotten an injection there before and the woman says it is a new med the doctor is adding.
Harris asks what it is and the woman tells him to leave. He tells Ava to call her doctor but before she can the woman pulls a gun on them and says they are both going to die. She asks them who wants to go first. Harris wrestles with the woman and she drops the gun. Ava grabs it and aims it at the woman.
