Days of Our Lives Episode Recap Friday, September 8, 2023: John Uncovers The Truth
At the Kiriakis mansion, everyone keeps insisting that Vivian should leave but she refuses to. Philip is bounced between her and Kate and he tries to be diplomatic. Vivian proves to everyone that she was released from prison early for good behavior by producing her release papers. Justin looks them over and says they look legitimate. Vivian tells them that she is staying until Victor's will is read. She remembers parts of their relationship and acts like she is mourning him.
Kate confides in Philip that Victor set up a secret trust for him and suggests that they leave. After they are gone Justin says that he is going to get Victor's will to prove to Vivian that she is not named in it. He goes to Victor's safe but discovers the will is gone. After calling the estate attorneys, Justin tells them that Victor ordered them to destroy the last will and died without one. He tells Maggie that means she inherits everything as his spouse but Vivian disagrees. She tells them that her and Victor's divorce papers were not filed properly and they never received a divorce decree. Vivian says that his marriage to Maggie is null and void and that she, Vivian, is the widow Kiriakis and therefore inherits everything.
At the Pub, Kate and Philip talk about Vivian, and Kate says she wishes she could be there to see her find out that Victor left her nothing. Philip remembers a touching conversation he had with his father and Kate tells him that despite their fights, Victor loved him very much.
Sarah‘s water breaks and Rex wants to get her to the hospital but she says that she has to push. Xander and Sarah both have flashbacks of her having Mackenzie on the side of the road with Xander helping her deliver. They get Sarah set up on a reclining lawn chair, and Rex sends Chloe to his car for his medical bags and sends Xander to find clean towels and blankets.
Sarah confides in Rex that she's worried that while she is in pain in labor, she might accidentally slip and tell Xander the truth but he assures her that it won’t happen. Xander and Chloe help coach Sarah through the birth and Rex delivers a healthy baby girl. Sarah is overjoyed that the baby is but Rex notices that Sarah is shivering. Xander offers to hold the baby and right after he takes her Sarah passes out.
Marlena is talking to John Doe in her office and tells him that his memory loss is from a skull fracture he got long ago. She tells him that other than that he is in excellent health. He is happy to hear and wants to go look for his son but she tells him that her husband has been working on his case and asks him to stay and talk to him. John arrives before the man can leave and Marlena introduces them.
John tells him that he fought in the Korean War and the man says that it does sound familiar. John goes on to tell him that he served in the same unit with his biological father, Timothy Robicheaux. The name sounds familiar to the man and he has a memory from the war. John tells him that Timothy was a deserter and turned out to be evil and even tried to kill him. The man tells him that they were in a foxhole together and when he was injured and asked Timothy for help, all the other man did was switch their dog tags.
John realizes that John Doe is actually his father, Timothy Robicheaux and that the man who tried to kill him was Joseph Bell. They share a very touching moment realizing they are father and son and Marlena has tears in her eyes as she watches them. Timothy asks why John was adopted and not with Maude and John tells him that it's a long story.
Timothy asks about Maude and John tells him that she has passed away. He says he thinks there is a part of him that knew that and that was why he wanted to find his son so bad. He can't believe that the man who was helping him find his son turned out to be his son. He tells John he's always loved him even though he never got to meet him and that he loved Maude very much.
Timothy believes that it was fate that brought him to Salem. Marlena asks John if he is ok and he talks about his journey trying to find out who he was and how horrible it all was. He says he didn't know how he could be a good person and at times he wasn't. Marlena tells him that what Stefano did to him wasn't his fault and that he made himself the good man he is. John gives her the credit and gives the real Timothy credit as well. They can't believe that they finally found each other and promise to never lose each other again before hugging.
