General Hospital Episode Recap Tuesday, September 5, 2023: Diane Has Bad News For Sonny
At Deception, Lucy rages against Tracy and the lawsuit while Maxie pleads with her to calm down. Maxie suggests that they should give Tracy the 75% to make the lawsuit go away but Lucy is deadset against it. Maxie tries to reason with her that 25% of a successful company is better than nothing and reminds Lucy that she is a single mother with 3 kids and she depends on Deception for her income. Lucy remains unswayed and Maxie agrees to help her fight as long as they are both committed and have a chance at winning. Lucy is determined to find out how Tracy intends to prove her claim and tells Maxie that she'll figure out a way to get the information she needs.
Ava comes into the gallery and is surprised to find Mason there. He attempts to flirt with her but she shuts him down and demands Nikolas's body. He tells her that he has to wait until the boss gives the okay and then figure out a way to transport it. Ava wants to know where the body is but Mason refuses to divulge that information. Ava tells him that she did what they wanted and now it's time to pay up. Mason tells her that she'll have the body soon.
Austin comes into the house and looks for Nikolas. A few minutes later Nik comes in after finishing his run. Austin is surprised he's out exercising but Nik tells him that he's recovering and feeling better. Austin wants to know his intentions once he's fully recovered and tells him that he needs to let Ava know he's alive. Nikolas wants to know why Austin cares so much about Ava and Austin tells him some of their history but doesn't mention how close they have gotten or that they slept together.
Austin tells Nik that Ava didn't mean to kill him and deserves to know the truth. Nikolas tells him that there are things he needs to put into place before he can go home. Austin brings up the possible charges he could be facing and tells him that Liz gave a statement to the police. Nikolas tells him that he wants to go home to his sons and to make things right with Ava but he can't just yet. After Nik goes to take a shower, Ava calls Austin and tells him about the visit from Mason.
Dante comes home after a long night of trying to get information about the charges Sonny is facing. Sam tries to comfort him, telling him that Sonny has always beaten charges before. Dante reminds her that Sonny always used to have Jason then and doesn't now. Sam tells him that Sonny has others who are loyal to him. Dante is worried that this might be it for his father.
Dante and Sam discuss what Dante does know and who could have turned Sonny in. Sam suggests that it could be one of Sonny's enemies trying to clear the field but Dante isn't sure. He goes to take a shower and Sam calls Ferncliff to check on Cody. They tell her that he's on a 24-hour hold and being watched closely. Sam tells the nurse she will call again later and after she hangs up she hopes Cody tones it down so he has a chance to see Sasha without them knowing.
Drew is getting out of the shower at Pentonville when he is approached by Cyrus who has a warning for him. He tells Drew about Sonny's arrest and tells him that it means Drew is no longer under Sonny's protection. Later in the library, Cyrus offers Drew a chessboard that he made himself and asks if he can play. Drew knows the game and agrees to play with Cyrus. They play a game in silence as they study each other and watch every move closely.
Michael comes to Carly's to tell her about Sonny's arrest but she already knows. She asks him if he was the one to do it but he denies it. He tells her about Wiley seeing the arrest and says that Willow suspected him too but he didn't do it. They both wonder who it could have been and say that neither of them has heard from Dex just as he knocks on the door. He tells them he was hiding out in the Quartermaine boathouse all night after getting Carly's call.
They ask him if he has any copies of the tape he made of Sonny doing the Pikeman deal and Dex swears he gave Michael the only copy and deleted the original. Joss comes in and tells them she was out with her friends all night and just turned her phone back on. Carly is not happy because she had told her not to do that just in case she needed to get in touch with her.
Joss promises it won't happen again and they tell her Sonny was arrested. Carly asks if she did it and Joss denies it. She tells them that she wanted one of them to do it but didn't do it herself. She reminds them that Carly destroyed the flash drive and that Dex didn't keep a copy and Carly wants to know what happened to the destroyed drive. Dex says he threw the pieces in a public trash can after making sure it was completely destroyed. Carly and Michael are upset because someone could have been watching him and the government has equipment to get information from destroyed hardware.
The FBI agents have interrogated Sonny all night and continue to ask him questions. He sits silently while they ask if he knows who Pikeman is and if he has ever done business with them. Finally, Sonny tells the agent that he's not saying anything without his lawyer present. Diane comes in a while later and tells them that Sonny is done answering questions and asks to speak to her client alone. They leave them alone and Diane and Sonny discuss the next softball season.
Outside the head agent requests the file on the evidence they found in the raid and when he sees Pikeman crates he says they hit the jackpot and Sonny's not getting away this time. They go back into the interrogation room and Diane tells them that Sonny has nothing to say. The agent says that Sonny will be in a holding cell for 72 hours until his arraignment as another agent cuffs him. Diane tells Sonny that the agent is right and there is nothing she can do because he isn't eligible for bail with the charges he is facing.
