Performer of the Week

Dick Van Dyke is a national treasure and Days of Our Lives getting him to appear at all was a massive win for them. The 6 months ahead taping schedule of Days allows for the building of anticipation for things to come when they get leaked, and Mr. Van Dyke's appearance was leaked months ago. Fans have wondered what Days would do with him since his appearance was revealed. As always, rumors ran rampant, and as always, most turned out to be untrue, and we are so thankful for that.

We, for one, cannot think of a more perfect story Days could have given to this icon, and a lot of the reason for its perfection goes to Mr. Van Dyke himself. The genuineness and sincere human emotion he brought to his role were sublime. His touches of humor and that ever-infectious grin made it all the better. His song and dance interlude with Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was a touch of perfection that was not important to the story but needed nonetheless because it was wonderful entertainment. This week, John and Marlena took Timothy home to meet his grandkids, and it reminded us of the good old days of family scenes on this 58-year-old soap opera. These moments proved highly entertaining and were the bite of the soap week for many long-time and even new viewers.

The question of who John’s (Drake Hogestyn) father is, has been revisited many times, but Mr. Van Dyke’s performance made this trip to the well seem brand new, and his natural chemistry with the other cast members added to the wonderful outcome. He really seemed to embrace the role and play it for all it was worth and, in doing so, gave Days fans some of the most amazing scenes they have ever had.

His and Drake's affection for each other was evident in their scenes and added so much to the story as it unfolded. This Timothy Robicheaux is the one that John, and the Days of Our Lives faithful fans, deserved, and much of the credit goes to Mr. Van Dyke and his amazing performance. That is why we are naming him our Performer of the Week. Congratulations, sir, and please come back to visit again soon. 

Days of Our Lives

This week, we wrapped up the Dick Van Dyke story as his character, Timothy Robicheaux, was taken home by John and Marlena to meet his grandkids. Vivian Alamain made a splashy visit to the DiMera mansion to reunite with her son. Sarah's life was in jeopardy after she gave birth. She named her daughter, Victoria Margaret. Stephanie gave Theresa her blessing to pursue Alex. Chanel finally made her choice and chose Johnny. Talia and Shawn drowned their sorrows and shared a kiss. Ava and Harris left for London with the help of Tripp and Wendy. Maggie and Julie had a feud with Vivian. Kristen dropped a bombshell on Gwen but Gwen had a shock for her. 



General Hospital

Blair visited Port Charles and reconnected with Martin. She also had a meeting with Tracy. Sonny's loved ones rally around him when he went to Court. All the charges were dropped and Sonny was sent home. After learning a tidbit from Sonny, Carly gave Ava some unsolicited advice. Nikolas packed and told Austin goodbye. Spencer and Trina geared up for their romantic trip to New York. Sasha and Cody broke out of Ferncliff. Dante and Sam visited them and Dante apologized for not listening to his friend. Maxie confronted Brook Lynn and then fired her. Anna confronted Valentin and later made a shocking discovery. 



The Bold and the Beautiful


A new young woman, Luna arrived and harbored a secret. Eric's revelation blindsided Brooke. Katie played devil's advocate. Brooke delivered a message from Eric to Ridge. Hope made her intentions perfectly clear before seducing Thomas in the office. The two gave in to their desire and had sex right there. Donna brought an unexpected person into the fold. Carter reminded Brooke and RJ of Eric's legacy. Ridge and Eric shook hands and agreed to a fashion showdown. 




The Young and the Restless

Victor gave Adam a wake-up call. Abby confronted Tucker after learning that he returned from Paris without her mother. Tucker and Audra gave in to their desire and then plotted against Jabot. Billy came up with a plan to fool Tucker. Sally observed as Nick and Sharon bonded over business. Jack and Diane set a wedding date. Ashley made a distress call to Jack. Tucker confided in Devon about what really went down with Ashley. Victor demoted Victoria and announced he was returning as CEO. Nikki threatened Adam and Sharon noticed a connection between Chance and Summer. Lily and Daniel talked about Heather and Audra changed the rules of the game with Kyle. 






Honorary Mentions

We want to give recognition to John McCook (who plays Eric on B&B) for his outstanding work in the soap opera industry. Even after decades in the field, McCook's talent continues to impress. This week was no exception, as he flawlessly portrayed a character with arthritis and delivered a heartfelt message through Brooke to his son. Later on, he gave an incredibly moving performance when confronted by Ridge and he acknowledged that he was determined to never give up on his dreams as a designer.
