The Young and the Restless Recap for Thursday, September 28, 2023:
Today on The Young and the Restless, Phyllis is surprised by an old friend, Tucker retaliates against Jack, and Diane makes a shocking discovery.

Phyllis calls Tucker on the phone to ask for the rest of the money. Tucker makes some jokes, but Phyllis asks him to stop and he suggests they meet in his suite. As she ends the call, Billy enters and notices that it sounded intense. He asked what's going on, but Phyllis said it's nothing. Billy doesn't believe her and keeps asking. Phyllis says she's been looking for a job, but hasn't had any luck. Billy sympathizes with her and Phyllis says she's confident she'll find something soon. Billy expresses concern, but Phyllis doesn't think he is genuinely worried about her financial situation. Billy asks about Tucker and Phyllis jokes that they might be having an affair. Billy doesn't think that is likely and suspects they are up to something illegal. However, Phyllis doesn't give him any information. Billy receives a text from Jack, urgently summoning him to Jabot.
At the office, Jack tells Diane about Mamie's return and how she was being evasive about it. Emily shows up with a transaction flagged by the financial team and gives it to Jack. Jack tells Diane about a large transfer of funds. He is shocked to see that Billy's name is associated with the payment approval. Billy walks in and asks what's happening. Jack questions his brother about why he approved the transfer of funds. Billy denies approving it, as they no longer use that lab. Jack realizes that someone is trying to frame Billy for embezzlement and they need to find out who it is. Jack receives a notification from the financial team that the funds have been moved from the dormant account to another, but it doesn't specify who did it. Billy suspects it's Phyllis, working with Tucker.

Nick approaches Nikki with concerns about Victoria's worries regarding their father, Victor. Nikki shares her own concerns, not about Victor's mental capacity, but about the potential conflict Victoria may stir up, causing Victor to take on too much responsibility. She reveals her shock at Victor appointing Adam as Nate's assistant, fearing it could lead to trouble. Nick asks how he can help, and Nikki suggests talking to Victor as a family to keep an eye on the situation. Victor enters and questions what they are discussing. Nick explains Victoria's worries about his health and judgment, specifically concerning Adam's appointment. Victor suggests Nick return to the company, but Nick declines.


At Society, Summer bumps into Chance and notices he's in a good mood. He reveals that he's been chosen as the new Chief of Police. Happy for him, Summer offers to treat him to lunch and celebrate his promotion. Though hesitant at first, Chance agrees. While joking about parking tickets, Nick arrives and Chance has to leave for a news conference. Summer sits with her dad and clarifies that she and Chance are only friends. She asks if he'll ever forgive Phyllis, and he admits he's still angry but working on it. Summer pleads with her dad to consider hiring Phyllis, and he promises to talk to Sharon about it.

Tucker is in his suite, reflecting on his recent conversation with Phyllis. She arrives and demands the rest of her money, but Tucker reminds her of how she double-crossed him and made things more complicated. Phyllis threatens to trigger something with just one touch, but Tucker challenges her to do it. She reveals that she has set up secondary triggers and he thinks she is bluffing, but Phyllis insists that she holds all the cards. While Tucker tries to persuade her about his big plans, she is not interested and wants to change her life and keep her promise to her kids to be a model citizen. Tucker takes out his phone and transfers the rest of the money to her account and then tells her to hold up her end of the bargain. She gets on the computer and gets it done. Tucker is confident that he is better at the game than Phyllis and vows to take over Jabot and streamline it. However, he doesn't see a place for fashion. Phyllis threatens to warn Jack, but Tucker knows she won't because if he goes down, she goes down too. After Phyllis leaves, Tucker receives a call from Leanna Love, who wants a scoop about his marriage. He says they are trying to work it out and gives her a rumor about Billy Abbott.

Phyllis on a call, checks to verify that she owes the insurance company nothing. As she hangs up, in comes Danny who says, "You look like you just lost your best friend."
