Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for Friday, October 13, 2023: Sarah Can't Believe Her Eyes
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on Friday, October 13, 2023: Sarah is shocked to learn about Susan. Rex blasts Kate. Eric is unpleasantly surprised to learn that Xander is Sloan’s client. Xander and Sloan discuss his plans for full custody. Susan gives EJ a reminder. EJ learns the details of how she wound up in London. Tripp and Ava discuss their respective relationships with Wendy and Harris.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap Friday, October 13, 2023: Sarah Can't Believe Her Eyes
Sarah is in the Square having coffee and talking on the phone with Maggie. She thanks her mother for giving her some time to herself and tells her how tired she is from being up all night with the baby. She gets off the phone and then sees a woman drop her things. Sarah gets up to help her and she's shocked to see that it's Susan and she is alive.
Sarah tells Susan that she hadn't heard the news because she was so busy with her new baby and Susan congratulates her. Sarah says that she spent so much time being angry at Xander for Susan's death and Susan tells her that she doesn't have to be angry anymore. EJ interjects that he is still responsible for kidnapping her and Susan losing a year of her life but Susan tells him that with the things he has done, he needs to stop judging others.
Sarah tells Susan that she is thrilled she is alive but then tells her that she has to get back to her baby before leaving. Susan reminds EJ of his promise to leave Ava and Xander alone. He tells her that they have both done bad things and she tells him that he has too. She makes him swear to her on her life that he will never harm either of them and he tells her that he wouldn't dream of it.
Susan tells him that he better be telling her the truth because she's not going to be there to keep an eye on him. EJ asks what she means and she tells him that she is going home to Memphis. She reminds him that she has a husband and when he insults Roger she says he sounds like Edmund which he takes offense to, calling him a kidnapper. Susan tells EJ that Edmund didn't do the kidnapping himself and EJ wonders who would want to kidnap her.
EJ tells her that he sat on the cliff all night the night of the accident and didn't see anything. He is determined to find out who took her but she doesn't want him to run himself ragged. EJ is unswayed and still determined and then we see someone's hand as they read the news story about Susan being alive.

Sloane gets off the phone with Melinda and updates Eric about where they stand with the adoption. He talks excitedly about them becoming parents and then tells her that he is going to get coffee at the Pub. When he opens the door to leave, he is unhappy to see Xander standing there and demands to know what he wants. Xander tells him that he has a meeting with his lawyer and Eric is not happy to learn that Sloan brought him on as her client.
Sloan admits that she should have told him but sends him to get his coffee, telling him they will talk about it later. After he is gone she asks Xander if he is serious about going for full custody of his daughter and he tells her that he is. Sloane reminds him of the things he has done and he tells her that Susan is alive so he can't be accused of being a murderer.
Sloane tells him that it is very hard to take a newborn from its mother and Xander says that she is unfit because she lied to him about being the child's father. He rails against people keeping someone from their child and Sloan looks panicked. She asks him if he really thinks that makes someone unfit and he tells her that he does. He also tells her that Sarah did it to Eric as well but doesn't tell him that he went along with it.
Xander tells Sloane that she is going to marry Eric so she must know how much what Sarah did hurt him and Sloane admits that she does. Sloane tells him that it is a good play in court and Xander tells her to go for the jugular. Sloane asks if he hates Sarah and Xander says that he does. Sloane tells him that full custody will be an uphill battle and suggests co-parenting but Xander says no. He says any woman who could lie to a man she loves about his child doesn't deserve a second chance. After he leaves Sloan looks concerned.

Rex invites Kate over to the Kiriakis mansion and blasts her for going behind his back and telling Sarah to divorce him. Kate doesn't deny it and Rex tells her that it worked and Sarah told him that she wants a divorce. Kate is thrilled but Rex isn't and tells her so. They argue about it and Kate tells him that Xander knows about the baby so Sarah has no use for him anymore. Kate asks him to accept that Sarah is never going to feel for him what he feels for her just as Rex sees Sarah walk in.
Kate snarks at Sarah and Rex asks her to leave so he and Sarah can talk. After she is gone Rex apologizes and Sarah tells him that Kate has a point. She says she asked a lot from him and gave nothing back. She tells him about Susan being alive and he tells her that he saw it on the news and was going to tell her when he saw her. He asks how she reacted and she tells him that it gives Xander more leverage in court. Rex asks if she changed her mind about the divorce and she tells him no. She says Kate is right and it's time for them all to move on.
Rex tells her that he is going back to Chicago and she can send the divorce papers there. She thanks him for being the best best friend in the world and they hug before he goes to say goodbye to Victoria. Sarah cries after he leaves the room. Xander shows up and demands to see Victoria and Sarah tells him that Rex is with her, saying goodbye. She tells Xander that they are getting divorced because of him.
He asks what she means and she tells him that she knows he will make Rex's life hell as long as they are together so she is letting him go. She tells him that she knows Susan is alive and it changes things.

Harris is sitting at the bar in the Pub and calls Ava to see how she is doing. They chat for a few minutes about their night and Harris tells her that he needs to find a job to pay rent. He says that he isn't sure anyone will want to hire him with the things he has done but Ava tells him that he is a hero. She tells him that she has to go when Tripp walks in and he returns to his coffee.
Eric comes in and Harris introduces himself and gives him some pictures he found that Eric left behind in his room. Harris assures him that he is no longer brainwashed and a threat and Eric tells him that he's not worried. Harris tells him that Salem is his home and he's planning on staying and starting his life over. He tells Eric that he needs to find a job and Kate comes in and asks how Harris slept. He tells her that he slept well and thanks her again.
Kate suggests that he go to the Salem PD and apply for a job as an officer but Harris isn't sure someone with his record could become a cop. She offers to give him a recommendation and tries to talk him into it. Harris promises to think about it before leaving the Pub. Marlena arrives and tells Kate that Harris texted and is very happy there. She tells Kate that she wanted to check on her about Philip leaving with Chloe and Kate tells her that she is trying to accept it. Rex comes over with a suitcase and tells her that he is going back to Chicago. Kate isn't happy but he tells her to smile because he and Sarah are getting a divorce and that is what she wants.

Eric gets home and apologizes for being mad earlier. He tells her that Xander presses his buttons and she asks about Sarah keeping his child from him. Eric tells her that they have gotten past it but he can't forget the pain that he caused not only him but everyone. Sloane looks worried as they hug.

After she gets off the phone with Harris, Ava wants to make Tripp breakfast but he tells her that he is ok. She tells him that she can make breakfast for Wendy but he tells her that Wendy already left for a job interview. Ava asks how serious things are with him and Wendy and he tells his mother that it's serious and that he is in love with her. Tripp asks about Ava and Harris and she tells him that there's nothing going on.
Ava says they are just friends and Tripp tells her that he heard her call Harris a hero. She reminds him that Harris saved both of their lives and he says that he knows Harris isn't the same guy who tried to kill him before. He is worried because they met in Bayview though and Ava admits that they bonded. He mentions them sharing a room in London and Ava tells him that Harris slept on the chair. She tells Tripp that Harris is a different person and she is too.
Tripp is about to leave for work when Harris knocks on the door and asks if Ava is there. Tripp thanks him for saving their lives but tells him that Ava has been through hell and doesn't need to deal with anyone else's baggage. Ava tells him to go to work and apologizes to Harris after he is gone. She explains that Tripp is just worried because she has a history of getting obsessive with men and he tells her about his experience with Hope.
Ava tells him that they both know what it's like to want something so much that you will do anything to hold onto it. Harris takes her hand and slowly pulls her closer so that he can kiss her.
