Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on October 17, 2023: Harris pitches a new job. Clyde threatens Ava. EJ and Chad bond over their losses. Belle has a warning for Talia.

Days of Our Lives Episode Recap October 17, 2023: EJ and Chad Have Regrets

Days Recap Today

On the phone, Clyde instructs Ava to come visit him at Statesville and after she hangs up she grabs her keys and starts to go. Tripp comes out of his room and asks where she is going. She tells him that she has some things to take care of before leaving quickly. Wendy comes home and they talk about her trip to the unemployment office. They kiss and Tripp suggests that they mess around but Wendy wants to know where Ava is. 

Tripp tells her that Ava let to take care of some things but she seemed off. He thinks it might have something to do with Harris and tells Wendy about what he thinks is going on with them and what Ava told him. When they are kissing again Wendy touches his wound without knowing and he reacts. Wendy is upset when she finds out he was attacked at work but he assures her that he is fine. Later Wendy is working on her unemployment claim and tells Tripp that she has to be looking for work to qualify and he tells her that Ava is looking for a job too and suggests that they do it together. 

Days Recap Today

Ava goes to the prison to see Clyde and demands to know why he tried to kill Tripp. Clyde tells her that it was just a warning, this time. Ava wants to know what he wants and he tells her that he wants her to run his drug business for him while he is in prison. Clyde tells Ava that since it was her fault he lost the last person who was going to do the job she owes him. 

Ava doesn't understand and Clyde explains that he was the one behind Susan being delivered to Edmund and that he was going to use her as leverage to make EJ run the drug business but Ava ruined that by bringing Susan home. She tells him that she won't do it and Clyde makes it clear that if she doesn't he will have Tripp killed. 

Days Recap Today

Rafe is reading Shawn's resignation letter in his office and then he and Jada talk about Shawn leaving. She is going to miss him but admits that she isn't sad that he won't be around her sister anymore. Rafe tells her that he is going to have to find her a new partner and since they are already short-staffed, he will have to hire from outside the department. Just then, Harris knocks on the door and asks if he can speak to Rafe. 

Jada leaves them alone to talk while she goes to get lunch and Harris hesitates before asking Rafe for a job. Rafe teases him a little but agrees to try to hire him. He tells Harris that he has to get the mayor's permission but he thinks she will agree. Harris tells him that once he is a cop maybe he can get that confession from EJ. Rafe admits he thought about that but also has another case in mind to put him on.

Talia sees Belle outside of the Pub and approaches her to apologize for everything and to assure her that her visit to Shawn at the Salem PD was a one-time thing. Belle tells her that Shawn is leaving so it doesn't matter. Talia is surprised but Belle makes it clear that they are still together, he is just going to rehab to get help for his issues. Belle tells Jada that she doesn't want to talk to her again. 

She knows Salem is a small town but she wants them to avoid each other at all costs and not talk if they do happen to meet somewhere. After Belle walks away Jada arrives and Talia tells her about their conversation and tells her sister that she isn't going to be there for it to be an issue. 

Days Recap Today

In the Pub Marlena and Kate have coffee and Kate asks how Belle is doing. Marlena says she was doing better but things changed after she found out Shawn had cheated on her with Talia. 

Jada brings Talia inside, sits her down, and asks her what she meant. Talia tells her that she thinks she should go back to California. Jada argues that Talia has a good life in Salem and Talia doesn't disagree but thinks she should leave anyway. She goes upstairs to pack and Rafe arrives and comforts Jada after she tells him what is going on. When Talia comes down with her suitcase, the sisters share a tearful goodbye before Talia leaves for the airport.

Days Recap Today

Chad sits in the park and talks to Abigail about how much he loves and misses her. He tells her about his plans for her birthday with the kids and then talks about being unable to let go of his anger at Clyde even though he knows she would want him to. Later he goes to the mansion and he and EJ discuss Abigail and what she meant to them and their family. He and EJ both agree that they regret not killing Clyde when they had the chance. 

Days Recap Today

Ava has her head in her hands on a bench in the Square when Harris approaches. She acts like she is okay and asks how he is doing. He tells her that Rafe gave him a job with the Salem PD and she is happy for him. Then he tells her that Rafe has given him his first assignment and it's to find whoever took Susan to Edmund Crumb.
