Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on October 19, 2023: Leo and Dimitri try to figure out an escape plan. Stefan and Gabi concoct a financial scheme. Kristen learns about Holly’s crush. Tate faces the music with Holly.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap October 19, 2023: Nurse Leona Stages An Escape
Brady calls Tate to the Pub to meet with him and Roman so they can tell him that his new job at the Pub is being the dishwasher. Roman tells Tate that he is truly happy that he is joining the family business and goes to call Kimberly so he can tell her. After he is gone Tate rages against the job and Brady tells him that he caused damage and he has to pay for it. Tate says that the only reason Brady is only focussing on him is that he doesn't have Rachel so he has to make do with Tate.
Brady apologizes for not seeing Tate more but makes it clear that he loves him and is just trying to get him on a better path. Tate offers to help Brady connect with Rachel and Brady asks him what's in it for him. Tate pretends to be hurt but finally admits that he has an ulterior motive. He tells Brady about the text from Holly saying he was dead to her and tells him that he needs an excuse to go to the DiMera mansion so he can talk to her.
After Tate leaves, Roman tells Brady how happy he is that Tate is going to be working at the Pub. Kate comes in and tells them the good news that Dimirti is being transferred to jail today. She asks where Tate is and Brady tells her that Tate went to go visit Rachel. Brady tells him that Tate is doing it to score points with a girl.

Kristen and Rachel get back from a shopping trip and Holly angrily confronts Rachel over using her special shampoo. Rachel denies it but Holly insists that it was her. The girls keep bickering so Kristen sends Rachel to get cookies so she can talk to Holly alone. After Rachel is gone Kristen offers to give Holly money so she will be on better terms with Rachel.
Holly asks if she is going to pay her to be nice to Rachel and Kristen says not exactly. Kristen tells Holly she wants her to tutor Rachel in math and she will pay her. Holly tells her that she doesn't need her money but she would like her help with the boy she is in love with. Kristen doesn't think that it's a good idea to involve Rachel in something like that. Kristen wants to know who the boy is and is shocked when Holly tells her that it's Johnny.
Holly tells Kristen that Chanel isn't her only problem, her mom is as well. She says it's thanks to a jerk named Tate Black and from behind her Tate makes his presence known. Kristen greets him happily as Christopher and he reminds her that his name is Tate. She goes to find Rachel for him and Tate apologizes to Holly for telling Nicole about her being in love.
He asks who the guy is and she tells him that it's Johnny. Tate is surprised because of how old Johnny is and Holly tells him that she didn't ask for his opinion. He apologizes again and says that meeting her made being back in Salem not seem so bad. He asks if they can start over as friends. Tate offers to take the blame if Nicole finds Holly's weed and they agree to be friends again. Kristen comes back into the room and tells them that she can't find Rachel.
Days Recap Today
Stefan and Gabi try to figure out how to use Rachel to get Kristen to sign over her DiMera shares to them. Stefan says that they have to make Kristen feel cornered and desperate and Gabi says they have to kidnap Rachel to do that. Stefan argues against kidnapping Rachel but Gabi pushes for it. He shuts down the kidnapping idea but comes up with another plan. Stefan thinks they should bribe the judge who granted Kristen custody of Rachel.
Gabi thinks that is too risky but comes up with the idea to get Brady to help them. She thinks they should manufacture evidence about Kristen that Brady can use to challenge her custody of Rachel. They make plans to make up something that makes Kristen look like a bad mother and blackmail her with fake evidence to get her to sign over her shares. Stefan reminds her that they would have to stab Brady in the back to do it but Gabi is ok with that.
After Gabi leaves, Stefan lures Rachel to their room and plies her with ice cream and an offer to play another round of twenty questions. Meanwhile, Gabi goes to see Brady at home and offers to help him regain custody of Rachel.

Rafe and Jada are in the hospital lobby, waiting for Kayla and Rafe is very impatient. When Kayla arrives she tells them that she can't sign the release form for Dimitri's transfer because hospital policy says that it has to be the doctor who examined him and that doctor has already left for the day. She offers to try to find another doctor to re-examine him because she is very busy but Rafe begs her to do it.
In Dimitri's room, he begs Leo to break him out and Leo reluctantly agrees to try. They try to come up with ideas to get Dimitri out of his handcuffs and finally, Leo finds a paperclip and tries to pick the lock on them. Rafe and Jada consider just taking him without the release form but Kayla shows up with his chart and says she will examine him for release.
Kayla goes into the room for the exam and tells Leo to leave. He objects but she insists. Once he is gone she goes over to the bed and is shocked when Dimitri, now uncuffed, grabs her arm and says "Surprise!" Dimitri handcuffs Kayla to the bed and then Leo comes in disguised as "Nurse Leona" and wheels Dimitri to an elevator in a wheelchair. As they are escaping the hospital, Rafe and Jada find Kayla handcuffed to the bed.
