Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for October 4, 2023: Xander's In Danger

Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on October 4, 2023: Rafe and Tripp find themselves in a life-threatening situation. EJ gives his inside man new orders. Chloe’s conversation with Xander has an unexpected outcome. Kate tries to talk sense into Rex.

Days of Our Lives Episode Recap October 4, 2023: Xander's In Danger

Brady and Rex talk at the Pub about Victor's will being found and Maggie throwing Vivian out. Philip admits that Vivian carrying him is actually an embarrassment and he can't stand her. Rex tells him about Xander refusing to stay away from Sarah and the baby. Philip understands why Sarah wants to keep the baby away from Xander but wonders if she still has feelings for him. Rex thinks she only feels disgust for him and says that unless Susan comes back from the dead there is no way Sarah will let Xander back into her or the baby's life. 

Rex says that Chloe overhearing them talking complicated things but assures Philip that he's not blaming her. Rex asks about Chloe overhearing what Philip said about still being in love with her and how she took it. Philip says that she took it better than he expected and that she told him that when he came back her feelings for him came back too. Rex tells Philip that he always thought that he and Chloe belonged together and Philip agrees. 

Philip tells his brother that he lost his way the last time and he never wants to go back there. Rex is happy to hear it but asks what it means for him and Chloe. Philip tells him that he is sitting back and letting Chloe decide who she wants to be with. Rex thinks it's funny that the women both of them love have to choose between them and Xander. Philip tells him that he likes their chances and they toast to it.  

After Philip leaves, Kate tries to talk to Rex about his relationship with Sarah but he doesn't want to hear what she has to say. He gets a text from Xander saying they have to talk and leaves to go find him over Kate's objections.

EJ meets with Bronson at the DiMera mansion and tells him that he has a new job for him, he wants him to kill Ava since the last person failed. Bronson is willing to do it but needs to know where she is first. EJ tells him that he has people working on locating her and in the meantime he has something else for him to do, kill Xander for helping Ava kill his mother. 

Bronson questions if that's smart with the Salem PD suspecting him of sending the hitwoman after Ava but EJ is unconcerned. He tells Bronson that they are going to frame Rex for it since he hates Xander as much as EJ does. He tells Bronson that he has no feelings for Rex either way so he is expendable. Bronson agrees to take the job.

Chloe is on the phone with her mother when Xander gets home. She asks where he's been and he tells her that he slept in his office so he could figure things out. He tells Chloe that he plans to sue for custody of the baby and wants her by his side when he does. He apologizes for them not being able to go to New York right now to get married but tells her that he loves her and still wants to marry her.

Chloe tearfully tells him that she doesn't want to marry him anymore. She tells Xander that Philip came over after he left and they talked and she realized that she still has feelings for him. She tells Xander that she loves him but she thinks that both of them are in love with other people and using their relationship to hide from it. Xander tells her that he doesn't want to get back with Sarah but Chloe thinks he is just angry right now and once he calms down he may change his mind. 

She tells him that she is going to spend one more night in her old room and then she is going to move out. Chloe gives him back his ring and they share an emotional kiss before she goes to her room. The next morning she comes out with luggage and tells him that they can arrange a time for her to get the rest of her stuff. Xander tells her that she will always have a home with him and gives her their dart board as a gift. They share one more kiss and Chloe leaves.

A little while later Bronson arrives, disguised as a worker from the gas company. He tells Xander that there was a gas leak reported and asks if he can come in to check it out. Xander reluctantly agrees and lets him in. Bronson puts his toolbox on the table and there is a knock on the door. While Xander deals with that Bronson takes a gun out of his toolbox. Xander opens the door to find Rex and asks what he's doing there.

Chloe finds Philip in the park and she thanks him for meeting her. He asks what Chloe wanted to tell him and she says she wanted to tell him in person that she is leaving Salem.

Ava asks Susan to send a psychic message to someone who can get them out and Susan reluctantly agrees to try. She gets a vision of Edmund holding the gun on Rafe and Tripp and tells them about it. Ava panics and begs Harris to do something to save her son and Harris tries to break the chain holding him. Susan gets Ava to join her in a prayer to God to break the weakest link in the chain. Harris and Ava are shocked when the chain actually breaks.

Tripp and Rafe are being held at gunpoint by Edmund and he tells them that if he lets them search they will find his guests. Tripp asks who his guests are and Edmund tells him that he has Ava and Harris. Edmund is shocked to find out that Tripp is Ava's son and says that he is going to get revenge on Ava for hurting him by killing her son to hurt her. Rafe refuses to get out of the way and Edmund tells him that he will shoot him too. 

Harris bursts in before Edmund can shoot either of them and struggles over the gun with Edmund. A shot rings out but it goes into the floor and Edmund is disarmed by Harris. Rafe asks Harris for the gun and he hands it over. Harris takes Tripp to free Ava and Susan and Rafe calls Scotland Yard and tells Edmund that he is under arrest. Ava is overjoyed when Harris brings Tripp into the room and hugs Tripp tightly.  Harris and Tripp free them and Susan agrees to get EJ to stop trying to have Ava killed.

Rafe is shocked to see Susan alive. Rafe asks how she got there and they tell him about the two men who brought her. Edmund denies knowing who they were and Susan doesn't either but she tells Rafe that it's scary knowing that whoever took her is still out there.

At the Salem PD, Tripp thanks Rafe for letting Ava handle things her way. Rafe tells him that he thinks Harris and Ava belong in prison or back in Bayview but he knows EJ sent the hitwoman and he wants to take him down for it.

At the DiMera mansion, EJ looks at a picture of Susan sadly and vows to avenge her. He is shocked when Ava walks in and he demands to know why she is there. She tells him that she knows he sent the woman to kill her at Bayview and she's there to end this. Harris comes in with Susan who is thrilled to see her son.
