Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on October 6, 2023: Alex stakes a claim. Gabi offers Vivian a warning. Dimitri is threatened by Gwen. Brady returns to Salem with a familiar face.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap October 6, 2023: Alex Claims His Birthright
Maggie is in her office at Titan and she happily throws out Vivian's nameplate and reinstalls her own on the desk. Alex comes in and is surprised to see her there. She tells him that when they discovered that Victor did have a will she kicked Vivian out of the house and the company and took her old job back. Alex tells him that he's happy she was able to kick Vivian out of the house but that Victor left him in control of Titan.
Maggie tells him that Victor didn't name a CEO in his will and Alex disagrees with her. He thinks that Victor giving him the controlling interest in the company was Victor saying he should be the CEO. Maggie argues that if Victor felt that way he would have said something before he died but Alex tells her that he disagrees. He asks her to please not fight him on it because he considered all of his options and he wants the job.
Maggie asks if this is payback for her firing him but he tells her that it's not. He admits he didn't agree with how she ran Titan but this isn't about retaliation. He tells her that he is taking the job because he thinks this is what Victor wanted. Maggie tells him that when she found out he was Victor's son she was hoping that she could be there for him like Victor would have wanted. She wonders if Victor wanted them to work together but Alex doesn't think that would work out because they have different visions.
Alex tells her that if she isn't willing to just give up the CEO job willingly then he has no choice but to bring it to the board and with the controlling interest that Victor left him, all he has to do is call for a vote. Maggie tells him that he doesn't have to do that because she will go but she is disappointed that she couldn't get through to him with what she said.
Alex tells her that there is still a role for her at Titan but she tells him that it wouldn't work out between them. She takes her nameplate and leaves the office. At home, Maggie caresses a picture of her and Victor before putting her nameplate in front of it. Alex talks to a picture of Victor before he puts his nameplate on the desk and sits down behind it. He puts his feet up and looks sober as he contemplates his new reality.

Marlena is in her office and on the phone with John, telling him about Susan being alive. Kate comes in and she hangs up. Marlena asks Kate if she has heard the news about Susan and Kate tells her that she has. She tells Marlena that's not why she's there though, Philip is. Kate adds that he's leaving town with Chloe.
Marlena asks if they are back together and Kate tells her no, adding that she hopes not. Kate is worried that Philip will backslide into his obsession after all the hard work he put in. Marlena tells her that he is a grown man and Chloe must think he has changed if she is willing to go to New York with him. Kate admits that she is also sad because she thought she would finally have the chance to spend time with him so they could be closer.

Gabi is getting ready for work and Vivian comes into her room and tells her that she will be going to the DiMera meeting instead of Gabi. Gabi is confused and Vivian tells her that now that Maggie has kicked her out of Titan, the only place for her is by Stefan's side. Gabi makes it clear to Vivian that she's not going to let her take her job at DiMera and adds that she shouldn't get too comfortable in the house. Vivian tells her not to underestimate her and that she's not going anywhere.

Stefan is reading The Spectator when Jada arrives. He asks if she has more questions about the shooting and she asks him why he lied to her. Stefan lies to her again and repeats his story about hearing the gunshot from upstairs and she tells him that the prints on the gun they gave her belonged to Dimitri and Kristen. Stefan says that Kristen must have shot him then but Jada tells him that the bullet taken out of Dimitri didn't match the gun.
Stefan keeps up his pretense of not knowing what happened and Jada tells him that if she finds out he lied to her she will not hesitate to lock him up. Gabi runs in and tells Jada that she can't lock Stefan up. She tells her that Vivian shot Dimitri and gives her Vivian's gun in a baggie. Upstairs Vivian goes through her purse and wonders where her gun is. Stefan pulls Gabi to the side and asks what she's doing and she tells him that she is not going to let him go down for Vivian. Vivian comes into the parlor and asks if anyone has seen her gun.
Vivian tells Jada what actually happened and Stefan backs her up. Gabi adds that they want to press charges against Dimitri for trying to kill them. Jada asks if they will testify and they tell her that they will. Jada tells Vivian that it might be enough to get her off of the attempted murder charges but her having a gun is still a violation of her parole. She adds that she will be talking to Vivian's parole officer before leaving the house.
Stefan demands to know why Gabi turned his mother in and she tells him that she had to save him from being in trouble. Stefan is still angry and Vivian asks if he is going to let Gabi throw her under the bus. Stefan tells her that there's nothing they can do since Jada already knows. Vivan says that she has no choice but to leave town and Gabi can't hide her happiness about that. Gabi looks on as Stefan and Vivian share a touching goodbye before she leaves the mansion. After she leaves Stefan is upset and Gabi tries to make him see that she did him a favor by getting her to leave.

Leo is in the hospital lobby trying to find a nurse when Kristen steps off the elevator. She says hello to him and he tells her that he knows what she did because Gwen told him about her plan to kill Dimitri. Kristen remembers pulling the gun on Dimitri and then tells Leo that she called it off like she promised Gwen she would. Leo doesn't believe her but she swears it wasn't her. Kristen calls him out for betraying Gwen and he shoots back that she doesn't care about Gwen, only her share of Dimitri's inheritance. He tells her that he is going to check on his boyfriend before storming away.

Dimitri wakes up and finds Gwen looking down on him in his hospital bed. Dimitri asks her what happened and she tells him that he was shot, adding that it's not a surprise with how much of a dirtbag he is. Dimitri is confused and Gwen tells him that she knows he only married her for the inheritance and that he was having an affair with Leo. He tells her that he's sorry and she tells him that she is too before taking a scalpel out of her boot.
Dimitri gets nervous when Gwen threatens to cut his penis off to punish both him and Leo. He is desperately trying to reach his call button and she raises the blanket. Dimitri starts calling for help as Leo comes into the room and asks her what she's doing. Leo tells her that he knows she was hurt but this is crazy and he can't let her do it. He tells her that she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she did because she's not a violent person.
He gives her an emotional, impassioned speech about the kind of person he knows she really is and what she's been through. He begs her again for another chance to make his betrayal up to her but she tells him to rot in hell before leaving.

Gwen sees Kristen in the hospital lobby and Kristen tells her that she talked to Leo and wants to assure Gwen she's not the one who shot Dimitri. Gwen wonders who did and Jada walks over to them and tells them that it was Vivian. Gwen asks why she did that and Jada tells her about Dimitri trying to kill Stefan and Gabi. She tells Gwen that she's there to arrest her husband and Gwen says that's the best news she's heard all day.
Jada leaves to arrest him and Kristen tells Gwen that since Dimitri is going to jail, Gwen could still get the whole inheritance. Kristen tells her to go see her in-laws and tell them a sob story about her husband going to jail and convince them that she deserves the full inheritance. Gwen tells her that there's nothing left for her in Salem so maybe it's time for her to see what else is out there for her.

Leo asks Dimitri if Gwen hurt him and Dimitri says she got too close for comfort but he is ok. Leo asks who shot him and Dimitri tells him everything that happened. They kiss and Leo tells Dimitri that the important thing is that he's alive and now that the truth is out they have nothing to worry about. Jada clears her throat behind them. Leo asks why she is there and Jada tells Dimitri that he is under arrest for attempted murder.

At the airport a disguised Vivian narrowly avoids seeing Gwen who bids Salem an emotional goodbye, vowing that someday she will be back. Right after she boards her plane, Brady and Theresa disembark from their flight back from California with their son Tate.
