Spoilers for General Hospital on October 18, 2023: Lois confronts Tracy; Austin interrogates Dex; Blaze opens up to Kristina; Portia and Curtis confront their issues; and Carly updates Sonny.
General Hospital Episode Recap October 18, 2023:
GH Recap Today
Curtis gets into bed, and Portia comes in and asks if he wants some company. As she joins him, they talk about how nice dinner was and how fun it was to celebrate her becoming co-chief of staff. Curtis agrees and says that it was lovely of Stella to take them out to celebrate. Portia is a big planner and can already see more celebrations in their future, like Trina's graduation party at The Savoy. She suggests having a DJ instead of a band since Trina won't want to dance all night long. Curtis shares his concern that he won't be able to dance with his daughter and that he has to get used to that view. Portia tries to comfort him, reminding him that she's there for him. He pleads with her to stop, saying that he can't show her love the way he used to. Portia suggests that they could still connect physically, but Curtis tells her he's just not ready. Portia apologizes for coming on too strong and tells him they need to take things slowly. She promises that they'll get there together, but Curtis isn't sure. Portia reassures him that she won't give up on them.

Lois and Tracy have an argument. Lois insults Tracy by calling her an epic fail of a grandmother and accuses her of taking advantage of Brook Lynn. Tracy retorts by telling Lois to get off her high horse. Tracy explains that Brook Lynn needed help and came to her. Tracy believes that since Brook Lynn got what she wanted, it's only fair that she should get what she wants too. She says that Brook Lynn brought this situation upon herself. As Lois criticizes Tracy's greed, Tracy reveals that she acquired the company for Brook Lynn. Tracy had attempted to buy Deception legally, but Lucy Coe wouldn't budge. Lois remains skeptical of Tracy's story. She clarifies that she doesn't want Brook Lynn to waste her life on music like Lois did. She then reveals that Brook Lynn now owns 51% of Deception, and she will get her 1% of ELQ shares from Lucy. Lois tells Tracy to keep her 51%, as Brook Lynn won't want any part of it. Tracy responds by saying, "We will see.".
Nina and Sonny are lying in bed, discussing their recent wedding. Nina expresses her gratitude towards Sonny for everything and they share a kiss. Nina observes how calm and peaceful it is in their current setting. Sonny admits that he has let something go on for far too long and promises to resolve it upon his return home. Nina then requests that he forget about his problems and concerns, and focus solely on their time together, leaving all his worries in Port Charles.

Carly meets with Josslyn, but before they start talking, someone knocks on the door. To her surprise, it's Ava, accompanied by Dante and Dex. Carly asks if Ava is alright, to which she replies that she will be okay once she sees her daughter. Ava expresses her gratitude to Josslyn for helping with Avery. Dante interrupts to inform Carly that Ava was abducted by Mason Gatlin. Carly is shocked to hear this and asks for details about the rescue mission and Spinelli's involvement. Carly notes that Ava's life was in danger, and Dex admits that he could have died if Dante hadn't intervened just in time. Ava expresses her hope that Mason is dead, and confesses that her biggest fear was that they would come after her daughter. Carly tells Ava that she can spend the night there. Carly then goes to visit Drew at the hospital. Josslyn hands Ava her phone, and Ava thanks them both for everything they did to ensure her safe rescue.
Austin attends to a patient and realizes it's his cousin, but he doesn't want to take the lead on this patient, so he requests assistance. He pleads with Mason to wake up, and as soon as he opens his eyes, he asks for Ava. Dr. Larson states that Mr. Gatlin appears stable enough for surgery and tells him he's a lucky man. After the doctor leaves, Austin questions Mason again, but he says he has no idea. Later, they take Mason to the Emergency Room. Dante arrives and tries to enter the room, but Jordan prevents him from doing so and tells him to stay away from the patient. She advises him to go home and informs him that the Pautuck Police Department is making a lot of noise about him taking matters into his own hands. Later, Austin approaches Jordan seeking information. She is hesitant, but she tells him that Ava was badly shaken but unharmed. He then tries to contact Ava, but she does not answer. Jordan asks Austin if he can think of why Mason would abduct Ava, but he says he has no idea.
Sam pays Drew a visit and feels happy seeing him. Scout had sent a gift for Drew, and Sam was delighted to deliver it. It's a plaque that recognizes Scout as an exceptional swimmer. Drew is impressed by his daughter's accomplishment and longs to be there to support her. He asks Sam to extend his gratitude to Scout and promises to hang the plaque on his office wall, bragging to anyone who inquires about it. Carly drops in later to see Drew but finds him asleep. She calls Sonny to inform him that Ava was kidnapped by Mason, but she's now safe. Dex and Dante found her, but she is still shaken. Carly also reveals to Sonny that Cyrus Renault has been released from jail, and Ava's kidnapping is not the worst of it. Sonny promises to fly back home first thing in the morning. As he ends the call, Sonny says that it was "him" all along. Nina is left wondering who Sonny is referring to.

Sam is asleep in her bed at home when Dante arrives. She wakes up when he tries to take her glasses off. Apologetically, she tells him that she tried to stay awake but eventually dozed off. Dante explains that he wants to forget about the day and move on. Sam discovers that he's on administrative leave because he shot someone. Later, she learns that Ava was kidnapped and wonders why Mason specifically targeted her.
Kristina expresses her disbelief to Blaze about being in Puerto Rico. As they talk, Kristina makes a drink for Blaze and they exchange compliments. They raise a toast to Blaze's offer of becoming the new face of Deception. However, Blaze admits that she has not yet accepted the offer. She explains that she has reached a point in her career where she wants to be in control and not answer to anyone. Kristina asks Blaze if she has always wanted to be on stage. Blaze admits that she did, but also wanted to live her life without being a tabloid headline. However, as she becomes more popular, it becomes more difficult to maintain her privacy. Kristina acknowledges that it sounds like a challenging situation to navigate. Later, Kristina introduces Blaze to Sonny and Blaze congratulates him on his recent marriage. Kristina offers to get a drink for her dad, but he declines and informs her that they will have to fly back home in the morning due to something that came up.
