Spoilers for General Hospital on October 23, 2023: Brook Lynn is stunned; Cody voices his gratitude; Tracy flexes her authority; Portia and Cyrus come face-to-face; and Sonny confronts Selina.
General Hospital Recap October 23, 2023:
GH Recap Today
Brook Lynn meets with Lois at the Metro Court. She seems a bit distracted by her phone but is excited because she's about to sign an important contract. Lois is proud of her daughter and happy for her success. However, Lois asks Brook Lynn if she is happy being back in the music business. Brook Lynn responds affirmatively, saying that she shouldn't have left in the first place. Lois then warns Brook Lynn that not everyone agrees with her decision. Brook Lynn suspects that it must be Tracy who disagrees. Lois reveals that Tracy is about to give Brook Lynn Deception. Brook Lynn is shocked and wonders how Lois could believe Tracy. Lois thinks that, in her own twisted way, Tracy really wants to do this for Brook Lynn. However, Brook Lynn disagrees and insists that there is no way she would accept the company from Tracy.
Kevin and Mac meet at the Metro Court. Mac expresses his happiness to have Kevin back in Port Charles. Kevin acknowledges that Mac had his hands full as acting police commissioner. Mac admits that it was a lot of work, and there was one specific case that got to him. Kevin offers to listen and asks Mac to talk about it. Mac then tells Kevin about Cody Bell, a person of interest in a case he was investigating. While they are talking, Scott walks in, wondering if they mentioned his name. Mac clarifies that they were talking about Cody. Scott comments on how lucky they are that Cody is a forgiving person because he could have sued the city. Later, Cyrus walks in and interrupts their conversation, asking for a minute with his attorney, Mr. Baldwin, which surprises Mac and Kevin. Cyrus pulls Scott aside and tells him that he needs his legal expertise. Scott reminds him that he was already paid a significant amount of money for the case, and now that Cyrus is free, their business is done.

Cody pays a visit to Sam's place and she considers it a pleasant surprise, as she assumed he was coming to see Dante. To her surprise, Cody informs her that he is there to express gratitude and not seek a favor. He hands her a gift, but Sam insists that it isn't necessary. Cody insists that he had to thank her for all the help she provided in saving Sasha. Sam had taken a leap of faith by believing in Cody despite having reasons not to. Sam acknowledges that Cody's determination to help Sasha was admirable. Sam's gift to Cody is a softball, but she tells him that he didn't have to do this. She loves the gift and decides to place it in the family room for everyone to enjoy. Cody admits that he used to wonder what it would be like to have a family. He also confesses that he found his biological father and lied to him about not being his son. When Sam asks why he lied to Mac, Cody is not sure but says that Mac is too good of a person to have a son like him. Sam suggests that Cody should tell Mac the truth, but Cody is worried that Mac might not need him as his son. Cody reveals that Dante has known this secret for a while, and now Sasha knows it too.
Maxie and Lucy come across Tracy in the Deception office. Lucy inquires what Tracy is doing there, and Tracy replies that she thought high-level executives took lunch at their desks. Lucy mentions how difficult the new shareholder has been, and Tracy corrects her, saying that the shareholder is actually Lucy's boss. Lucy retorts that the position was obtained through blackmail and a hostile takeover. Tracy changes the subject to them changing the direction of Deception without involving her, even though she is the boss. Maxie argues in favor of Blaze being the face of Deception, as she would appeal to a broad range of demographics, but Tracy disregards her opinion and insists that Sasha should remain the face of Deception. Lucy disagrees, saying that Sasha has been through too much and it would not be wise to thrust her back into the public spotlight. Tracy is aware that this job could potentially help Sasha get back on her feet. Maxie agrees that Sasha deserves another chance. Lucy finds it surprising that Tracy is showing sympathy. They question Tracy's motives for reinstating Sasha, but Tracy defends women, stating that women should support each other and not bring each other down. Tracy stands firm and insists that they call Sasha immediately and offer her the job back.

Sasha receives a visit from Dante, and she wonders if he's there on official police business. He responds with a yes and no, leaving her confused. Sasha then asks if she's in trouble, and Dante admits that it's not police-related. Instead, he wants to talk to her about her upcoming decision. He understands the horrific experience she had at Ferncliffe with Dr. Montague, as he went through something similar three years ago and tried to escape from everyone he knew. Dante tells Sasha that running away will make things worse. Sasha explains how her family was taken from her, and she feels immense pain and sadness. She tried to carry on, but it hasn't been easy. Now, she's not sure if she's doing okay. Dante reminds her of how much she's loved and how much she'll be missed. He assures her that he'll support her no matter what decision she makes and encourages her to reach out to him if she needs anything.
Dex meets Sonny and fills him in on everything that has happened while he was away from Port Charles. Sonny tells Dex that he did not cut his honeymoon short for no reason, and they need to put an end to the man that Mason works for. Sonny admits that he believes Cyrus is the boss and that abducting Ava was a big mistake. Dex offers to go see Austin, but Sonny tells him not to yet, as he needs to ensure that all his allies remain loyal. There is a knock on the door, and Selina Wu enters. Sonny thanks her for coming to see him and congratulates him on his marriage on his island. He wants to clear up an issue with her. Sonny asks how she allowed his cousin Gladys to run up such a massive gambling debt without informing him. Ms. Wu says she saw no reason to bother him with it, but Sonny tells her that her next words could have long-lasting consequences. He gives her a choice to be an ally or an enemy. Ms. Wu says her alliance with Sonny is vital to her interests. Sonny then urges her to explain what happened with his cousin Gladys. Ms. Wu tells Sonny the whole story, but he still does not understand why she did not tell him. He thinks she was trying to get information on him, and if that is the case, it will be a big problem. Ms. Wu apologizes and says she has been a good business partner and wants to continue their relationship in the future. She asks how she can make amends. Sonny notes that Cyrus has been released once again. Later, Dex gives Sonny an update on Cyrus's movements. Sonny says that Ms. Wu is helping keep an eye on Cyrus, and they will have him under 24-hour surveillance.

Portia and Cyrus coincidentally meet at the hospital. Upon seeing Portia, Cyrus expresses his pleasure in seeing her. However, Portia is not happy to see him and accuses him of being responsible for his own release despite his wrongdoings. She warns him to stay away from her and her family. She promises him that she will not forget that he held her and daughter hostage and says she will get a restraining order against him. He claims that those things are all in his past and that God has forgiven him, and he is now on the path to redemption. He is trying to reach out to apologize to her. However, she refuses to accept his apology, feeling that it is a travesty that he is free and standing in front of her. She is burdened with resentment towards him, and he is heartbroken by it. Portia firmly believes that he is not a changed man, and she doesn't believe in his act of reformation. She thinks that he is still the same person he was before and always will be. Cyrus mentions that Curtis was a hero the night he saved both her and Trina. He thinks she must be deeply concerned and frightened that Curtis may no longer be able to protect her. She warns Cyrus to stay away from her and her loved ones. She also threatens to call the cops and have him thrown back in prison where he belongs if he approaches her or anyone she cares about.

I’d actually tune if they put Sam & Cody together. She and Dante are just too boring.
