The Young and the Restless Recap for Thursday, October 12, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Victor’s actions cause concern among his family, Nick reaches a decision about his future with Sally, and Nikki sets ground rules with Claire.

Y&R Recap Today

Nick and Sally are in her room at the GAC and she is talking about her new company but Nick is distracted. She finally realizes that he's not listening to her and he tells her that he's trying but he has a lot on his mind. She thinks he is preoccupied with Adam kissing her and says he hasn't acted the same since he found out. Nick tells her that he would love to forget it but he can't. He is also questioning the timing of Sally telling him that she's in love with him.

Sally tells him that she wouldn't have said it if she didn't mean it but Nick's not convinced. She admits, again, that Adan got to her but says that he knows what buttons to push. Nick asks if she thinks Adam would be able to push her buttons if she wasn't still in love with him. Sally assures him that she is not in love with Adam and tells him that she wants to just concentrate on them. She says that she and Adam are friends, but that is all. 

Nick says that losing Ava bonded them and she agrees. She tells him that she thinks he should understand because he went through something similar. She assures him that she meant what she said about falling in love with him and asks Nick if he can please believe her. Nick tells her that he can't be with someone who isn't as committed as he is and Sally tells him that she is. He says that his instincts are telling him otherwise. He says that the kiss tapped into something that Sally isn't admitting and until she does he can't be with her. Sally tries to stop him but Nick gets up and walks out of her room. After he leaves Sally cries as she thinks about their breakup. She tries to call him but he ignores her call. 

Y&R Recap Today

Nate and Victoria are at Society when Adam comes in and tells Nate he is just stopping to give him a report of what he's gotten done so far and to see if he needs anything else before Adam heads back to the office. Victoria tells him that it could have been a text but Nate tells him to give him the report. Adam runs down the list of menial tasks that Nate gave him that he has completed and then asks if there is anything else he needs him to do. Victoria thinks Adam is putting on an act but he insists that he is being sincere and asks what he can do to prove it to her. 

Nate tells him that they are both giving him the benefit of the doubt and tells Adam he can go back to work. After Adam leaves Victoria asks Nate if he is buying into Adam's act. Nate tells her that tolerating Adam isn't the same as trusting him and that he's doing what they agreed to do. He reminds her that they said they would sit back and wait for Adam to screw up so that Victor would see that he hasn't changed. Victoria tells him that she's worried about more than Adam, she is also worried about her father.

Nate says that he thought she had said she accepted the changes and she reminds him that she only said she would accept them for now but that she's not patient and it's harder to wait than she thought it would be. She feels insulted that Victor included her in his plans to clean up the company when she wasn't the one messing up. She admits to Nate that she feels alone without support and he assures her that he supports her and he's on her side. 

Nate tells her that he is only suggesting that she keep the peace because he thinks it's the best way forward for her. He tells her that he is just trying to protect her and swears that he is on her side. Victoria tells him that she doesn't need to be protected and he says he was just trying to let her know she could count on him to be by her side. He tells her that he has to get back to the office and asks her to ride with him but she says he should go and she will see him later. 

After he leaves, Victoria thinks about her conversations with Nikki and Nick about Victor. Nick comes in and Victoria asks him if he has a few minutes to talk. She asks if he has spent any time with their father and he tells her that he hasn't. She wants to know if he has noticed that things are off with Victor, but Nick thinks she is just being bitter. Victoria tells him that she feels isolated by everyone, including Nate. 

She admits that what Victor did hurt her but says she isn't imagining that Victor isn't the leader he used to be. She asks him to come back to Newman and tells him that she needs him and is scared for their father. He tells her that he can't come back but he is there for her. She asks him to spend time with Victor to see what she is talking about and he promises that he will.  

Y&R Recap Today

Nikki takes Claire into Victor's office so he can meet her new assistant. He tells her how important her job is and Claira tells him how grateful she is for the opportunity. Nikki and Claire go to her office and Nikki tells her that she impressed Victor and that's not easy to do. Claire tells her about her admiration for him and that she did a paper about him in school. Audra comes in and tells Nikki that the podcast network they are trying to acquire wants a lot more money than they were planning to pay them. Nikki says they just may need more time but then asks Claire what she thinks.

Claire suggests paying them what they want but adding more to the deal for Newman Media. Nikki thinks it's a great idea, but Audra isn't sure. She wonders what else they may have that Newman Media would want and Nikki suggests a bigger cut of the advertising. She tells Audra to bring it to them and Audra thanks Claire for her insight and leaves the office. When she gets outside, it is obvious she is not happy.

Nikki praises Claire's instincts and tells her that she wants her to call her Nikki. She tells Claire what she expects and what Claire can expect from her and they talk a little about Claire's great aunt and Victoria. Nikki probes a little about her family but backs off when she realizes Claire doesn't like to talk about her past. Claire tells her that she would rather concentrate on the future. 

Audra comes back in and tells Nikki that Claire's suggestion worked and the negotiations are back on track. Nikki is happy and thanks Audra and Claire before leaving for a meeting. Claire tells Audra that she hopes she didn't overstep and Audra assures her that she didn't and tells her to keep up the good work. Claire comes back in and asks if there is anything she can do for Audra while she is waiting for Nikki to come back and Audra tells her that she's fine. Claire goes back to her desk and Audra sits down and starts researching Claire online. 

Y&R Recap Today

Adam checks in with Victor in his office and Victor asks how things are going with Nate. Adam tells him that he is learning how not to treat an assistant and Victor says that is a valuable lesson. Adam wonders if Victor thinks he is going to backslide and Victor says that it's too soon to tell but he hopes Adam won't prove that he has wasted his time believing in him. Nate comes in looking for Adam and tells him that he needs him to sit in on a conference call. 

Adam agrees and as they are leaving the office, Victor says, "Nicholas, do a good job." Adam tells him that's funny, calling him by his brother's name but Victor doesn't know what he's talking about. Nate and Adam talk about Victor's mistake outside of the office and Nikki asks what they are talking about. Adam tells her that Victor confused him with Nick. Nikki goes into Victor's office and asks if he is okay. She tells him that Adam told her that he called him Nicholas and he tells her that it was intentional. She asks why he would do such a thing and Victor just grins. (Photos: JPI Studios)
