The Young and the Restless Recap for Monday, October 2, 2023:
Today on The Young and the Restless, Victor and Victor reach an understanding, Sally confesses to Nick, and Nikki recruits a new member to her team.
Y&R Recap Today
Nate meets Adam at the GAC and thanks him for coming. Adam tells him that he already ordered coffee for him and Nate says he wanted to meet to lay out how things were going to work with them. Adam asks how he takes his coffee and if there's a paper he likes to read in the morning and Nate tells him to drop the attitude. Adam remarks that Nate must love the power he has over him and Nate tells him that he's not buying his new persona.
Adam insists that he is sincere in his promise to work his way up but Nate still doesn't believe him. Nate tells him that as his assistant he could be privy to key information about the company and use it to his advantage. Adam tells him that he has no intention of doing that and Nate says he is going to make sure he doesn't. He tells Adam he will only be doing menial tasks and that he intends to hire another assistant, at his own expense, to handle important things.
Adam asks Nate if he's run any of this by Victor and can tell that he hasn't. He warns him that he's going against Victor's orders and it could cost him. Nate tells him that he doesn't care about his opinion and that he thinks Victor has a bigger agenda at play. Adam agrees but asks what that has to do with him. Nate tells him that he thinks Victor is preparing for Adam to betray him again and put him with Nate as a safeguard against that. He tells Adam he takes it very seriously and Adam asks if that's a warning.
Adam tells Nate that he thinks that he's trying to get him to blow up but Nate says that he is just happy that Victor has put such faith in him. Adam makes it clear that he will not do what Nate is expecting and he's in it for the long haul. He says he is going to keep his head down and his nose clean to show his father that he is serious about his change. He tells Nate that he won't break him no matter how much he tries to demean him with menial tasks. Nate tells him that he won't have to because Adam will do it to himself. "Not this time," Adam replies.
After Claire leaves to make arrangements Audra comments that Nikki seems to like mentoring young people. Nikki admits she does but says that if a protege gets in her way or tries to slow her down then forget about it. Audra says that she assumes Nikki is not just talking about Claire. "You assume correctly," Nikki replies before getting up and leaving.
Y&R Recap Today
Sally and Nick are in bed. She is asleep and he is watching her until room service knocks on the door with breakfast. Nick gets up to get it as Sally dreams about kissing Adam and Nick catching them. Sally wakes up and Nick brings her a glass of juice. He jokes about them both quitting work and just spending all of their time together and she reminds him that they both need a bigger sense of purpose.
Nick tells her how much he missed her on his trip and tells her that he loves her more than he thought was possible. Sally admits that she loves him but isn't in love with him yet. She tells him that it's not him, it's her. She has been hurt so much that it's hard for her heart to commit again. Nick apologizes and says the last thing he wants to do is pressure her. He offers to take back what he said but she tells him not to before snuggling up to him on the bed.
After they get dressed they discuss their days and Nick says that Victor wants to meet for lunch but he wants to try to avoid him for now. Sally invites him to join her in the park for a picnic and he eagerly accepts her invitation. He calls Victor to tell him that he can't meet him for lunch and then tells him not to read into it because he just has other important plans. After he hangs up, Sally asks if he is upset and Nick admits he is. She suggests that he let his father know that he loves him so Nick calls Victor back and asks him to join him for a drink at the end of the day and Victor accepts his invitation.
Later Sally is setting up their picnic but can't stop thinking about Adam kissing her and her dream about Nick catching them kissing and confrotning them. Nick interrupts her thoughts and asks if she is okay. "Adam kissed me." Sally blurts out.
Y&R Recap Today
Victoria goes to Victor's office and asks if she can come in. He says yes and she tells him that he looks content and that the big chair suits him and always has. He asks if he should be preparing for another attack and she tells him that she wants to make peace. Victor is surprised at how fast she has turned around and asks what happened. She tells him that she thought long and hard about everything and made a decision about the future.
Victoria tells him that she realized that he made the right choice, putting himself back in charge. Victor questions that after everything she had said to him. She tells him that she knows he is looking at the long game and he returned to fix a fractured work environment. Victor asks her what she thinks made it so fractured and Victoria blames it all on Adam. Victor tells her that he had been optimistic but she went right back to scapegoating Adam.
Victor tells her that he will no longer discuss Adam with any of them. He says he is his son and he loves him. Victoria says that Adam will disappoint him again and thinks he is up to something but says that she will accept what Victor says. He asks why she is giving in so easily and she says she doesn't want to fight with him anymore. She tells him that she doesn't trust Adam but knows that Newman is stronger than him and can survive anything he might do.
Victoria admits that her feelings were hurt by her demotion and Victor tells her that it was a business decision. She tells him that she knows that and has accepted it. Victor is happy about that because he was afraid that their relationship was becoming untenable. Victoria asks what he would have done if that happened and he tells her that he would have fired her. He then adds that if it happens again he still might. After Nick calls and cancels their lunch Victoria asks if Nick is avoiding him too and he tells her that he thinks he is.
Adam and Nate go to Victor's office and Adam tells him that they had breakfast and worked out their working arrangement. Victor tells them that he is happy they have all accepted things and happy that Adam has accepted his position. Nate agrees that they have an understanding and Victor likes that as well. Adam comments that he seems happy and Victor says that he is, adding, "Your sister has come around, you've gotten in line, and I am where I belong."
Victoria leaves for a meeting and Adam leaves to get settled into his new office. Victor asks Nate about his conversation with Adam and Nate says he is insistent that he has changed. Victor asks if Nate believes Adam and Nate says he is cautiously optimistic. Victor says that he is less so because he thinks Adam fell into line too easily. Victoria and Adam are at the elevators together and Victoria makes it clear that if she had her way, Adam wouldn't have a job. Adam tells her that he doesn't believe her change of heart any more than she believes his and says that she is the one their father really has to look out for. He promises to nail her to the wall if she does anything to betray Victor.
