Today on The Young and the Restless: Diane and Jack share a special evening and more... (Spoilers recap for October 5, 2023)
The Young and the Restless Recap for Thursday, October 5, 2023:
Today on The Young and the Restless, Jill returns home to settle unfinished business, Mamie stands her ground, and Diane makes an important decision.

Diane arrives at Society for her date night with Jack and he is blown away by how beautiful she looks. She tells him that he’s outdone himself and that she can’t wait to see what’s next and they share a passionate kiss. Jack tells her that he bought the restaurant out for the evening and it’s all theirs. Music starts to play and he asks her to dance with him which she happily agrees to do.
Diane confesses to Jack that she’s nervous about their wedding party the next day. She can’t believe how lucky she is to have him after being alone for so long, and believing that she doesn’t deserve happiness, Jack suggests that they take their vows again at the start of the party so all of their friends and family can see how committed they are to each other. Diane agrees and they continue their dance.
After they finish their dance, they sit down to eat, and they toast their love and their family. Diane asks if Jack thinks that Kyle will stand up as his best man tomorrow and tells him that she wishes that she could they could find a way to help him. Jack asks if she’s talking about healing Kyle‘s heart or giving him his own job back, and Diane tells him that they can’t heal his heart.
Jack says that it’s not that easy and that he can’t just cut Billy loose and put Kyle in his place. Jack says it would be mending one relationship by destroying another. Diane tells him that she’s not trying to make him choose between his son and his brother. He tells her that at the end of the day, that’s really the choice he would be making. He tells her that there are a lot of reasons he doesn’t want to remove Billy as co-CEO right now, some of them are business-related and some family-related.
He’s worried about the perception of unsteady leadership at Jabot to the outside world, but also worries about Billy going to a dark place if he’s feeling abandoned. Jack wonders how they got off the topic of them and their love and wants to get back to that he tells her that together they can conquer anything and they toast to their love and commitment. After they get home Diane thanks Jack for a wonderful evening and they go upstairs and make love.

Lily asks Mimi what her intentions are with the company and Jill comes in and says that she has the same question. Mamie tells her that she got a great investment opportunity that offered her the opportunity to also come back and be with her family again. Lily and Nate both agree that it’s wonderful to have her back and Maime says they have so much time to make up for. Jill says that this is all a crock and demands to know what’s really going on. Mamie grins at her and takes a drink of her champagne
Jill wants to know why all the secrecy and why Victor would put his stake in Chancellor-Winters up for sale. She asks Victoria and Abby if they had anything to do with it and they both deny it. Lily tells Mimi that it is weird what happened and tells her that ever since Nate did what he did they have been wary of family making secretive moves that affect the company. Maime tells her that’s why she’s there so that they can all put the animosity behind them. She says it’s what Drucilla and Neil would’ve wanted.
Maime tells Jill that for her it’s business but for Maime it’s her family. Jill thinks she’s working an angle, but Maime tells her that when she was there a few months ago she saw how things were so bad between Devon and Lily, and decided that she had to be the elder family member they needed to bring them all back together. Jill still doesn’t believe her and Mamie tells her that it’s not about her.
Jill doesn’t believe that either and asks Maime how much it will cost to buy out her stake in Chancellor-Winters. Maime tells Jill that her stake is not for sale for any price. She asked if they could stop talking about business because that evening was supposed to be about celebrating being back together again. Devon Lily and Nate all agree and Jill tells them that none of them have any idea what’s going on there. Maime tells Jill that she can stay as well, if she’ll stop talking about her intentions and Lily asks Jill to stay and celebrate with them.
They’re all happy that the company wasn’t forced to go public and they still have control of it. Jill agrees to stay because she says she doesn’t think they’ve heard the full story yet. Jill talks to Devon and Lily privately and asks what they think about the Maime thing. She tells him that that they don’t know Maime like she does and Devon admits that he hardly knows her at all. Lily asked if they could just enjoy the night together as a family, and be happy that the company is strong. Devon agrees with that but Jill warns them again that they don’t know Maime. Lily says she wants to just concentrate on them all being together again.
Maime chats with Nate, Victoria, and Abby and they discuss how proud Maime is of Nate and talk about Neil. Victoria gets a call that she has to take and Maime starts to grill Nate about his relationship with Victoria. Abby leaves them alone to talk privately, and Maime asks Nate, what happened to his relationship with Elena. Nate tells her that it’s a story for another time if she promises to listen and not pass judgment. He tells Mimi how good it is to have her back, but asks her to please not meddle in their personal lives.
Jill corners Mimi and congratulates her for how far she’s come from the Abbott house. Maime is suspicious, but Jill tells her that she’s sincere and that while she thinks there’s more going on she’s putting it aside for that evening. Maime tells her that she’s always been smart and capable, but Jill didn’t see it because she doesn’t like her. Jill asks her again what’s really going on and Maime says "never show your cards until it's time" before walking away.
After everyone else leaves Nate and Victoria talk about the evening and Victoria asks if he was tempted by Mamie's suggestion that he return to Chancellor-Winters. He tells her no and says he is right where he should be and that Devon and Lily wouldn't let him back either way. He asks if she is trying to get rid of him and she says not a chance, sir before kissing him

When Devon, Abby, and Jill get back to the house Jill tells Abby she is happy they got to spend time together and asks about her mom. Abby updates her and then goes upstairs to check on Dominic. Jill and Devon talk about her relationship with Katherine and Devon asks what's really on her mind. Jill admits that seeing Mamie opened old wounds. She asks for his honest opinion and he admits he was surprised and wishes Mamie would have said something beforehand. Jill still thinks Mamie has an ulterior motive.
Y&R Recap Today
Mamie gets to her room at the GAC and toasts to herself before getting a phone call and telling her caller that she just got back and everything went off without a hitch. She says it went perfect and laughs.
